Dr. Kathy Moudy…read more She is our son's doctor - she was also my husband's pediatrician for his whole childhood - and his siblings. The concept of family is so important - I haven't gotten to have that in my life - (I bounced around doctors like crazy) so I really appreciate the trust that comes with time and age and experience. Our son has Erb's Palsy - an injury that affects the Brachial Plexus part of his shoulder and it was because he was stretched at birth and it affected him single handedly from the day he was born. She recommended occupational and physical therapists and is still forward facing even after his 5 years of life. Now he is starting Kindergarten and his shoulder is very useful and is affecting him only mildly when we were scared he was going to have very limited use. We are so grateful for her connections and resources. She let's us ask the questions that make us feel dumb as first time parents and trust me, none of us REALLY know what we are doing. Then there are the wellness visits, and any of us Yelper's with kids know anything - toddlers are crazy unpredictable sometimes and when you go to the doctor's once per year your child is completely different year to year. This year - about a week ago we had our wellness visit and he needed to finish up his school immunizations, discuss everything we had questions about and she did it with grace - all while giving his little Winnie the Pooh Bear the exact same exam to make him feel better. It was glorious - calm and peaceful office, great insurance cooperations and so forth. We are blessed.

A follow-up to my review:…read more **please take note of my 'previous' review. It reflects many of this hospital's "ER's"performance reviews. *I submitted two complaints*. The first one was several letters to hospital upper-staff. I wanted them to know what is going on in their ER. I wanted justice. I wanted something to be done. I was told the staff acted in accordance to protocol. The letter written back to me ignored the fact that I was ignored for 4 to five hours while suffering with extreme abdominal pain, vomiting, and nausea. They also disregarded my complaint about the Drip-Line issue. (Sort of bushed it under the rug). There was no mention or apology about staff behavior. **My second complaint was to a government agency that deals with review on matters with hospitals around MEDICARE. I filed this complaint with the government agency because I could not figure out why I was treated this way. Someone had mentioned this agency to me. My question was: was I treated this way because of my MEDICARE status? Again: "staff behaved in a matter consistent with protocol". Yes, all tests were done. It did not mention anything about the rudeness of the staff. And the treatment as a human being that I had gotten. Again: the drip line was swept under the rug. And again: there was no mention of my 4 to 5 hour wait as I suffered in pain, vomiting and nausea. Rudeness=especially intake staff and nurse. I spoke on the phone with a person from the government agency. She had asked me, what do you want to get out of this? She said, 'they acted accordingly'. 'The timeline of events measure out'. Then I told her, I just want an apology. I would like to sue, but according to you, I don't have a case. She said, they aren't obligated to apologize, so don't expect it. She could clearly see that I was upset over this. And basically said, without saying it, "just drop it".

I would like to express extreme disappointment in the care that my husband recieved at Holy Family…read moreemergency room. My husband came in with a large piece of glass stuck in his knee area creating a cavern in his tissue under his skin. It was this past Wednesday. We explained that it was a very dirty piece of glass and that it went through a pair of jeans. We tried to explain the severity of my husband's autoimmune disease and how it correlates with infection but our concerns were cut short as the PAC said "yes, i saw that". I tried to explain that my husband is no stranger to severe infection from foreign objects and that we would like the wound opened up and flushed well, our concern being bits of jean possibly being in there. She did not even comment on that just that "we will flush it out." We also stated that in the past, it is best for him that these types of wounds are left open and packed with sterile material. The response was that "that is not recommended anymore." I said even though that is what works best for my husband? She stated that she was not comfortable with that plan but was agreeable to put in "loose stitches." There was an xray, but it actually showed that there was nothing in the wound. The PAC knew that was not true as she already had hold of the large shard of glass and had made attempts to pull it out. She made the 3cm hole into a 4cm hole and was able to pull out the 5cm piece of glass. She then called in a nurse to flush the wound. I asked the nurse if the squirt bottle method would get into back of the wound and she said she was not sure. She irrigated the opening area that was already swollen, the only thing that came out was the water and some blood. When she was done the PAC came in and placed 6 loose stitches. Gave 2 oral antibiotics and a RX for them. She cover the stitches with a bandaid, put him in a knee brace and sent us on our way. That night my husband felt hot in his head, but we knew there would be infection from past experiences so we just stuck to the plan with the antibiotics. His pain worsened, again we knew it would, so he took Tylenol. We waited. Thursday afternoon the pain worsened, there was warmth at the incision site and then there was clear drainage trying to come through. It was bulging behind the stitches so I decided to pop a stitch and a glob of thick creamy goo came out. We rub the area and expressed more goo. My husband said it felt better. It continued to drain until Saturday morning when things changed. My husband said he can feel a pressure in the area where the tip of the glass hsd been and it was specifically hot at that spot. We rubbed it towards the stitches and more creamy fluid tried to come out. We decided to pop the top stitch and again goo oozed out. But this time, there was a piece of thread. We thought at first it might be a piece if stitch but then we continue to express it and a larger piece of fabric came out- the very thing I asked the PAC about as a concern for this wound. I then continued to massage it and another bit came out followed by a tiny piece of rock. It is now Sunday morning, my husband continues to massage the area and I took out all but 1 stitch. We continued with the antibiotics and there is still drainage but its not as painful. We consulted with my husband's very personable orthopedic yesterday and he said we did the right thing and thank goodness my husband's body did what it needed to do to clean itself of the debris. We will visit him on Monday to have a proper assessment of this wound with a doctor who listens to his patients. If I could have properly treated this at home I would have. I dont have the irrigation tools or the numbing medications or antibiotics necessary to treat a wide range of possible bacteria. This is not the first time that this has happened to him. Doctors in the ER must be trained to NOT listen to patients. Patient history is essential in understand their bodies and despite our verbal rundown and sharing what has happened in the past, this PAC did not listen to our years if experience in dealing with my husband's unusual situation both past and present and it AGAIN led to more suffering that he had to deal with at the negligence of someone who "thought" they knew better. Why is this the normal for doctors to dismiss valid concerns based on history and experience and then tell us what their plan is and make us "agreeable" to their plan? Because if we had forcibly expressed that we did not want her treatment, it would have been written up in their notes as such and a red flag hits my husband's chart permanently and we will be treated like we are a threat the next time we go to the ER. I work the medical field, I know how it works. But what I continue to not understand is the god complex that doctors/PAC are allowed to have. Medical care, in the field i am in, must be individualized to be successful and that does come with listening to patients.
