    Lump crab cake

Best crab cake I've ever had! Housed in the Lexington Market (which is an experience not to miss!), the ambiance is super casual- not upscale at all. Seating, noise can be a challenge during busy times.

Most delicious crab cakes! And we love this location. Lots of seating and friendly folks.

Y'all- if you're near Maryland and want some breathtakingly delicious crab cakes, this is the place to go to! Historically, this place is award winning- receiving national recognition for the quality and taste of the lump crab cakes. What's even better is you see Nancy- the owner- working side by side with her team. There was a line l, upon arrival, full of locals- that's always a great sign. When we ordered, we mentioned we were first timers- and it was recommended that we try the lump crab platter (best decision). Ambience: CULTURE. diverse group of people from all walks of life in one setting to enjoy some of the best seafood in town. In door stand up tables and outdoor seating options available. This market did not smell fishy at all and was clean - in addition to crap cakes, other seafood options like lobster and oysters were also sold there. Service: warm, old school service. Reminded me of New Orleans feel with warmth and authenticity. Food quality: y'all- MELT IN YOUR MOUTH DELICIOUS! I couldn't stop eating - from the first bit until the plate was empty. I was slumped over enjoying every bit of the platter. My boyfriend was shocked - as I normally eat like a bird. Covid precautions: mask. Social distance. Mindfulness Price: about $50 (with tip) for a platter and an additional crab cake. You can get away with just one platter for two (~$24).

I have heard about this place for a long time and always wanted to try it. I finally had a chance today. Similar to many reviews that I read, the location is definitely interesting but there are lots more to explore there in the market if you have some extra time. I have the jumbo crab cakes and it totally met up to my expectation. They use lots of crab meat and it's absolutely delicious. We also ordered a bowl of cream of crab chowder. It's creamy and you can also taste the crabmeat. The staff were patient to give me recommendations and explanations. I had a very nice experience with Faidley's.

Honestly, the area this Seafood Market is in is so bad - it's not worth coming here. Even if the crab cakes WERE the best I ever had, I would never come back. This area is SCARY and I'm surprised more of the reviews don't mention this. The crab cakes themselves were very good - made wholly of crabmeat, no filler. Though I would say that they would benefit from a light mustard sauce or something.

a bunch of very happy Jersey Boys.....best crab cakes & Yankee fans!

A group of co-workers and I planned a trip to see the Yankees play the Orioles in June of this year. An RV trip for 10....full day of drinking, eatign and carousing. But it's Baltimore and I had to do my infamous research. The Faidley's brand is over 100 years old, in the oldest public market in the U.S. of A. (Lexington Market, ext 1782!) I had seen Faidley's on various Food Network shows and websites. Supposedly "the best" crab cake around, using only the every best part of the crab...the jumbo lump meat instead of the scraps form the crab legs, body. To begin, the atmosphere is loud as you wait at one of the 3 counters that make up Faidey's section of the market. They also serve beer. Counter 1---the raw bar for raw\steamed clams or oysters. I had some local oysters. The meat was huge, but lacked the briny flavor I like in an oyster. To compare, I love Blue points. Counter 2--this section sells a large variety of raw\cooked fish\shell fish to take take home. Counter 3---I'll call this the "why we are here line". On a Saturday, I'd say the line is at least 20 peeps long...all day..but it moves. Here you can get fried calamari, shrimp,soups\bisques, fish sandwiches, AND " the crab cakes". But it's all about the " baseball sized" crabcake. You can order it ala carte or with 2 sides. I had the side of mac & cheese ( it was ok, nothing to rave about) and the cucumber salad (pickled & sweet, delish) As for the crab cake .........hands down the BEST one I have ever had in my life............and I have had them from ritzy, expensive places to waterside shacks,...all over the U.S.....and this is THE ONE to compare the rest to. Simply the best! and that's all I have to say about that..................

Yes the best crab cakes and worth the extra effort to get there.. Our first time here was sometime around 2004 or around that time and the experience was as good back then as it was today.. I understand some people have a concern about the area looking sketchy, however we felt safe and secure as we entered and ordered our Large LUMPS.. I love that term.. go there to know what I am referencing.. note* a bit more $$ than we remembered but our first time was back in 2004 so naturally the costs will have increased.. but still good for what you get..

Blown away like sands from an hour glass this is a crab cake that I could eat all the days of my lives. The coleslaw was great. If you compared the price of the crab cakes to others it is beyond worth it. No fillers. Straight up meaty and flavorful. The fries could have used a little more seasoning. Going back to the crab cake I could eat this crab cake throughout eternity! Treat yourself. This is Baltimore at its finest, and the golden standard of Crab cakes by which others falter!

One of the oldest and well-known seafood establishments in Baltimore for a reason. They have fresh oysters and clams shucked right in front of you in the center as you walk in with $3.50 draft beers. Everyone is always friendly and the service is quick. You'll never be rushed out after you've finished your food. The other parts of Faidley's offer fresh seafood for purchase to cook at home, crabs, and prepared food to eat at one of the tables in the market. I have been coming to Faidley's since I was a young kid, and am never surprised by their consistency and service. Today I was on crutches after a hip surgery, and one of the guys quickly brought me a stool out of the back so that I could sit comfortably, which took the stress out of being at the market with very limited seating. If you've never been, I would highly recommend this Baltimore staple!

Now this is a crabcake! This is by far the best crabcake I have ever had in my life. More crab meat & filling and I got the greens and macaroni and cheese with it. It's nestled in a market which has other available items for sale if I wasn't so full on the crabcake I'll probably have some oysters but it was very filling. A must!

This is a cool little spot that is a must tourist stop. Stand at the oyster bar with a beer and talk to locals or sit at a little table for two and have some seafood. Fried shrimp were great. The fried soft shell crab sandwich Isn't much to look at but it is fantastic!! Friendly service and a nostalgic atmosphere round out this great local favorite.

I've tried the crab cakes, fried calamari, and the cream of crab soup. The crab cakes are consistently good. The calamari has had two different coatings in the past couple months. The first time it was more of a panko bread crumb then more recently it was like a tempura batter. The bread crumb was better; the tempura ones were a little flat. The cream of crab was pretty good. I'd give them closer to 3.75 stars

Fried soft shell crab ss sandwich, $16.95.
    Thomas S.

Mrs and are staying very close to Lexington Market and decided to try the lump crab cake and soft shell crab sandwich from the famous Faidley's Seafood Market located there. We paid $21.95 for one lump crab cake and $16.95 for the soft shell crab sandwich. We were not impressed with both items. The crab cake was good tasting, but we had crab cake just as good or better at similar and lower price points. The soft shell crab sandwich was not good, period. The over fried small crab was laid between two thin generic wheat bread slices. The bottom sliced bread fell completely apart from the liquids & grease of tomato, lettuce, & crab. A thicker sliced bread such as Texas toast or a roll would work better. The taste of the soft shell crab was lacking. The employees were friendly and efficient. Even though indoor dining had resumed, there were no seats for any of the tall tables. Everyone ate standing up. So we got our foods to go. We believed the competitors had caught up and passed Faidley's. We will not return.

The mix of strong competing perfume scents in the dining room was overwhelming enough that I legitimately felt like I was on the verge of an asthma attack. Thankfully, Melissa completely turned the experience around service-wise. She was personable, knowledgeable, and refreshingly honest about the menu. You can tell she's been there a long time because her recommendations were spot on and she guided us well. The crab cake was INCREDIBLE. Excellent flavor, packed with crab, and very little filler. Easily the standout of the meal. The scallops and shrimp were also really good. My only complaint there is one I'll never stop having with restaurants in general: if you're serving shrimp in a plated entrée, just take the tails off. Nobody wants to stop mid-meal to perform seafood surgery and get their fingers messy. Overall, the food and service were strong enough that I'd come back, but hopefully next time the fragrance cloud in the dining room is a little less aggressive.

So it cost me $10-15 to for a plastic takeout container. Had I not looked at the customer copy of the bill I would have not only not known but I would have tipped based on the total which already included the additional gratuity charge (which was not disclosed on the merchant copy). This is so unnecessary and ruined what would have been a good experience. They said it was a "sharing charge" which I have experienced and applies when u have another diner with you and u decide to split an entree. Had they disclosed I would at least had the option to finish the meal. The saying "stepping over dollars to pick up pennies " seems to apply as this left such a bad taste I doubt I will return despite the fact the crab cake was delicious and the loaded baked potato was average (hardly loaded) Beware of the hidden gratuity for take home leftovers!!! Update to above: I did follow up with Angie this morning and she was very kind and offered to credit back my card for the extra gratuity. She also explained that I was misled about the "sharing charge" but they do automatically add 15% gratuity regardless of party size or quality of service. So I would give 4 stars for the food quality and 1 star for the way in which they present and charge gratuity. Tipping should remain at the discretion of the diner based on service and food quality otherwise just get rid of tipping and raise your prices
