Do not, and I say, do not deal with them. I wish I had read some of the reviews here before calling them last week.
Here is my story: I am a lawyer. My Wife is a college professor. I have a one year old. Gentlemen by the name of Bob showed up to my house to assesss a heating issue. To his credit, within a few minutes he was able to identify that the "blower motor" on the unit was defective. Within less than five seconds, he suggested to go upstairs to chat about my options. He immediately offered three options: either I replace the motor for $1,500.00, pay him $4,800.00 to replace the heating, or $7,300.00 to replace everything. He insisted that he could get the work done that weekend and inquired about my credit -- they offer financing. He was barely in my basement for five minutes. He did not go outside to check the AC unit at all. Again to his credit, the best option was to actually replace the entire system, and he did say that it would be best to replace the AC since he would already be here working. I don't fault him for that, but how did he know what to replace it with without even checking it out? How bout if my unit was only 2 years old?
He did not know I was a lawyer and I was letting him loose to see how far he could go. Over his insistence, I firmly told him that I will have to think about my options. When he realized that I was firm, he then asked for his $99.00 consult fee and we issued him a check for that amount. Up to that point, I still didn't realize who I was dealing with otherwise I would not have paid the consult fee.
After Bob had left the house, I asked my wife whether he indicated in his proposal which system he was going to put in for us. My wife told me that he only left a receipt, not a proposal. Thus the system he was going to put in was only known to him. He did not tell us what system he was going to put in for $7,300.00. My wife then suggested to get additional evaluations and request for a written proposal from Fahrenheit. I didn them both. This was when I realize that this company is a pile of crooks. Within less than 48 hours after Bob had quoted me $7,300.00 to do the job, he asked me to take a picture of my unit so he could decide what he will put in there for me. I told my wife that this was a bit funny at best. How come he did not know what units I had but he quoted me $7,300.00 to replace them? I already had the picture on my phone so I sent it to bob.
Next day, I received their quote. That same day, I obtained quotes from three additional companies in the local area. All of the other companies confirmed that 98 percent of what their quote was proposing to do was unnecessary. Moreover, all of the other companies had a discussion with me about the nature of the heating and cooling of the house, my preference, they took measurements, they make recommendations, they explain things to me, they were patient. When I intentionally told them that Bob was in the basement for less than five minutes, they ask me then how could he have been able to submit such a detailed proposal. This is when I decided that I needed to write this review. The company I hired quoted me much less and for better units.
Bob saw that I had a baby in the house and my wife and I are very young, he thought that there was an opening to make a quick buck. so, he wanted to get the job at all costs. At the end of the day, I believe tit was best for me and for them that they did not work for me because I would have sued them the next day because of the above. After all, this is my day job. They would have come into my house, mess with things that did not need to be messed with, and who knows what problems they would have left behind. I hate dishonest companies like that with a passion because if they could have tried it on me, they certainly would try it on my parents, who, unfortunately would probably have signed them a check to get rid of the problem. After reading this review, they will learn to no longer judge the book by its cover.
Get multiple evaluations and ask a lot of questions. This is the only way you will identify these crooks. read more
