One business did not show up, the second gave me a quote for thousands of dollars that included tearing up the deck. Clarence Smith Roofing is run by two brothers. One does the estimate, the other performs the work with a small crew. The estimate was reasonable and the work was scheduled quickly. The crew showed up on time. They were professional and worked clean. Since then, there have been no leaks. The work has a ten/fifteen (?) year warranty as long as I schedule maintenance every five years. Danny, the owner, told me they could swing by and take a look. I finished my walk, and within minutes they were already at my house. They put a ladder up and immediately saw I was missing shingles. Danny was shocked I wasn't getting water inside. Without hesitation, he and his guys grabbed shingles from their truck and fixed the problem right then and there. BEWARE! I would not recommend this company. I had my roof installed just over three years ago and…read morewas given a 15-year warranty. I am now experiencing an issue with the roof and was told it cannot be repaired under the warranty because I did not have a silver coating applied within three years, which I was told would cost approximately $1,750. This is extremely frustrating and disappointing. A roof is a major investment, and when you're told you have a 15-year warranty, you expect the company to stand behind its work. Instead, just three years after installation, I'm being told the repair isn't covered because of this coating requirement. If you are considering using this company, ask very specific questions about what can void your warranty, what maintenance is required, and how much those requirements will cost you over time.
