John and…read morehis team completely gutted and remodeled two bathrooms for me last year and did a beautiful job. He gave me solutions when other contractors told me to figure out an alternative (e.g. two previous contractors told me to buy a certain type of vanity based on the location of a pipe and John opened the wall and said, "Nope, I can move or reroute the pipe, there isn't any electrical or anything in the way that prevents it"). I have a handful of examples like that, and it made me realize that the others just wanted to do everything the easy way. He also found a potentially catastrophic problem under one of the showers that had previously been missed. On top of that, I really appreciated that he has an eye for little details - paint touch-ups, visual alignment, etc. Highly recommend.

Being a perfectionist I was happy that every one of his crew was as conscientious and concerned with details and completing the job including some specific requests. I opted to have them install cabinets they constructed in their shop which allowed unusual sizes and even a narrow broom closet door which gave my washer/dryer a built in look. We went with new pavers around the pool, a small turf area, new plants and some lighting. Meir was our project manager and was actually involved throughout the job. One thing I appreciated was when we weren't sure about the paver layout, he had the crew lay out a section first so we could see it before committing to the whole yard. Little things like that made the process a lot easier. Everything came together really nice and the backyard finally feels finished.

Ah, the joys of shared walls! After getting everything dried out, we brought in Dan Grisa and his crew to do the repairs. Dan met with us and clearly communicated everything that needed to be done and gave us a timeline for how long the job would take. I sent a written request for a quote through Yelp to several general contractors for a lot of work we will be doing on a new home in PS. His assistant proactively called me and connected me to Mike on the phone, so I did not have to reach out myself. Most other companies wrote back, "Yeah, I can do the work. Call me." eh. Nothing really wrong with that, but if I wanted to call, I would have and if you want the business...make it happen. I respect that they reached out to me, making it easier on me. What I appreciated from today's call is: *his VERY down to earth demeanor; I could see getting along with Mike very easily. *Mike took close to thirty minutes of his time to talk me through his style, and giving me specific ideas he would suggest for the remodel just based off the pictures from the property listing I sent. Awesome and appreciated. This gives me a chance to see how his mind works and if we would be a good match for such a large job. This got his foot in the door and made me decide to get a rough quote from him, which I am only doing with three total companies. *He stressed two things that he specifically addresses which are a notorious problem in this industry - (1) he is value conscious, suggesting alternatives to what you want to do so YOU can choose what you want to spend and where you may want to save....AND (2) he stays to the budget you give him probably more than his customers do. These are invaluable things to consider as he is promising to be done when says he will and on budget. HUGE. His work has been on TV shows and has many jobs being done simultaneously - all due to word of mouth, no real advertising. Other thing to note is he doesn't do pools, but will refer you to a few people that are good that he has worked with before. I am getting three total quotes, including from Mike, and ...so far, I am impressed.
