I approached Factory Frames to do matting only for 20 unsigned prints. They cut the mats for me but refused to fix the prints to the matting, claiming they would not take responsibility for trimming the artwork to match the mat size. This policy was never explained to me in advance and no clear reason was given at the time. They charged me one thousand dollars for this basic job, which took them around half an hour to complete. That rate felt unjustifiable, especially considering it involved no mounting, no framing and no signing, just cutting. After signing the prints at home over the weekend, I returned to have them mounted to the mats, expecting the job to be completed as originally intended. Instead, I was told there would be an additional charge, more or less one hundred and forty dollars, to finish what they had started. After a short discussion, Sharon, the employee I dealt with, consulted the owner, but they still refused to complete the work without further payment. I left feeling upset and disappointed. I found the service to be unreasonable and unaccommodating. If there was a policy around not mounting untrimmed prints, it should have been made clear at the outset. I'm not normally a huge fan of large, industrial sized businesses like this - they're often impersonal and cookie cutter but not Factory Frames. Sure, the space is "factory" sized but the service sets it apart. Mum and I went in the weekend to get some of artwork framed (we're decorating the office!) and the lady who served us was nothing short of brilliant! She showed us a tonne of options, made helpful suggestions and even pulled out artwork they'd recently framed to show us examples. Price-wise they are extremely competitive and on top of this they have a one week turnaround! Would happily use these guys again and recommend them to others! read more

I rarely frame art and personal gifts but on this occasion I wanted to get it professionally done. I had the worst experience at this store when we were greeted by an older lady who acted like she didn't have the time of day to assist me and my mum even though she had approached us. When we first got there, there were customers being served in front of us that were still being served warmly when we left. I don't see why this lady was trying to rush us out the door seeing as there were no other customers behind us. To add to that she had a terrible attitude towards us, she would screw up her face every time I suggested a different frame to suit my artwork. We were in the store for no longer then 20 minutes and she hesitated so much when I asked for assistance to put my art work inside the frame. She wanted us to take it home and do it our selves. It took this women no longer then 5 minutes to place my work inside the frame. Me and my mother came away furious on how we were treated by Factory Frames customer service. This is not a cheap store, we did not expect for my artwork framing to be treated so poorly!... We will not be coming back to this place in the future and I do not recommend doing business with them. I don't know how well the other girls were with their service but this older lady should not be working there if she hates her job that much! read more

If you're after inexpensive, well-made frames but don't want to trawl through second-hand shops in the hope of finding some hidden treasure, then this place is probably your best bet. While they do custom frames for a reasonable price, they also have piles and piles of premade, standard-sized frames and mats for (in framing terms) very low prices. And these aren't nasty, mass-produced frames. Despite the price they're still very good quality. Because they're standard sizes these frames might not fit every bit of art you have, but between the varying sizes for frames and mats you can probably come up with something. The staff can also cut you a custom mat, which isn't that expensive. The range of premade frames is wide enough to cater to most tastes, but if you're willing to pay more for a custom frame, then the options get much more diverse. It's neat just having a wander around looking at all the different bits and pieces on display. read more
