I paid a deposit for a class Robin has. The email I got specifically said the discounted price was good through January 31st so when I went to pay for the balance of the class yesterday I was stunned to see she'd raised the price of the class by 300%. When I reached out she denied her own agreement. Judging by her reviews, this isn't an ethical person. I even told her I'd gotten COVID the day after I paid the deposit but wanted to pay the balance by the deadline and she didn't even express any empathy nor did she ask how I was. She offered a group of California estheticians an online dermaplaning class (because as of January 2022 we are now legally able to perform that service) a lot of us paid a deposit and we're told we had till Jan 31 to pay the additional balance of $100 but Robin did Not keep her end of the agreement and raised the price 300% a day early!! She was offering a dermaplaning course for $125 to anyone licensed or students in the state of California. She had noted that special pricing would end on 01/31/2022. I paid my deposit before the end date and waited to hear back to pay the remaining balance. However. She decided to change the pricing last minute and run off with peoples money. I had a CincySaver and decided to try dermaplaning for the first time. So began the adventure...took over a week to book the appointment. The business owner does not use the phone, except to text. When texting the conversation with Robin pretty much went like this, "Hi what day and time would you like? Look at my website for hours" Me: "I can do all these days during your business hours. June 7, 8, 9, 13." After 4 days with no reply, Me: "Do you have any availability on those days?" Robin: "June 13 2, 3 and 4" Me: "2pm please" after 5 hours with no confirmation Me: "Does 2p on the 13th work for you?" The next day Robin: "Yes it does!" When I arrived at the building, the signage brought me to the back entrance of the building. This was clearly marked as the Employee Entrance. I saw another woman and asked for clarification and learned I should walk around the front of the building and enter the door for a suite of businesses. Gosh Robin, these details would be really great to share with new clients! When I arrived upstairs I walked down the hall and noticed a small sticker on her door with her name. When I was called back for my beauty procedure, I indicated this was my first time. But she immediately began blading my face without talking me through the process. She did not talk at all. After she had layered something that seemed like lotion on my face and placed a plastic face mask atop, she left the room. There was a humidifier blowing hot air on my face. It was too hot and made me nauseous. I called out for Robin 3 times before she reacted by admonishing me that I was supposed to be "relaxing." My skin was baby soft and it was a good deal for the money. But would I go through this unprofessional booking and general lack of communication for it again? No. read more

I would have left 0 stars if possible. Stay away from this business. I arrived 2 min early before my appointment and she rudely slammed the door in front of my face and told me to wait out in lobby. When I entered back into her office, she rudely told me to sit down and fill out paperwork. She said I was loud and asked if I would act that way if I was at a doctors office. ?? Oh goodness. Wish I would have read these review prior to wasting my time. I received a Groupon for her services as a gift. I drove 40 minutes to get to her only to realize I went to the wrong place so I was late. I tried to call twice- no answer. So I texted and explained that I went to wrong place and asked if she still had time to see me. She said yes. When I get to the place, the signs were confusing so wasted more time trying to find where she was located in the building. I am also 9 months pregnant and can't really move quickly. When I open the door, she doesn't even turn around to greet me. She says nothing. I finally say hi because I wasn't even sure I was in the right place and she responds with "I'll be with you in a minute" in a very short and rude way. She never says hi or introduces herself. Tells me to fill out the paperwork then leads me to the room. It was almost humorous how rude she was being. I tried to give benefit of the doubt because I was late and I felt badly about that but you still do not treat customers like shit. As i lay to down to begin she asks what my skin care routine is then very RUDELY says "you need to do better." We we're about 30 seconds into the facial. It was at this point I decided I would not be treated like this by someone who is paid to provide a service and I told her the appointment was over. She didn't seem phased and basically just said "leave. Bye." This woman was so unprofessional that I was willing to chalk up the money spent on the Groupon so that I would not have to spend one more minute in her presence. TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!!! There are currently 2 other reviews of Faces by Robin on this site. One rates her services as a 5 and the other as a 1. Based upon my experience this week, I think both offer some valid feedback. Robin is highly experienced and knowledgeable. She knows what she's doing and does it very well. I've had dermaplaning elsewhere many times in the past. Robin's approach is a little more aggressive but very effective and she removed some rough skin that others never did. In fact, when I left, I was surprised to see how wonderful my skin looked and there wasn't even any residual redness. Great job! On the other hand, Robin's personal communication style leaves many areas for improvement. She is definitely not energetic or cheery sounding on the phone or in person. And, especially for anyone who is seeing her for the first time, it can be a bit disconcerting that she gets right to work without explaining everything that she will be doing. In fact, when the client has his or her eyes closed while a mask is working, she does not announce when she is leaving the room or returning which I found creepy. I also didn't feel like I got a lot of skin care advice (mentioned by another reviewer) but then I didn't have any particular problems either. One recommendation I would offer to her: When clients complete the intake paperwork, make sure that they cannot see anyone else's paperwork. Summary: My primary goal is to get excellent care for my skin and I plan to return to Faces by Robin intermittently between other facial care providers because I really liked the results she achieved. I can forgo the side benefits of beauty care (e.g., feeling uplifted, positive and pampered during the treatment) because I loved what I saw afterwards when I looked in the mirror. I started seeing Robin a couple of years ago when she was in Kenwood. She did my lashes and did a great job. However, if you are looking for someone with good customer service skills and that truly cares about her clients, this is NOT the place to go. When she moved locations, she failed to notify me and I went to her old location. When I called her, she claimed she had sent a text out. She acted aggravated and that I was annoying her when I asked for her new location. When I got there for my appointment, I asked to see the text she sent me, and she couldn't produce it. Over the 2 years I saw her, I can count on one hand how many times I had to cancel. But I felt like I was being threatened on many occasions that she would just suddenly fire me she always talked about other clients she fired because they cancelled on her or because she didn't want to work with them anymore. In addition, I made sure to never tell her anything personal about myself because she loves to gossip about her clients and she doesn't do it anonymously. Boy can I tell you stories. My fears of being fired suddenly became a reality about a month ago. After an appointment I went ahead and scheduled three more appointments because she was very difficult to get into. However, the next morning I received a text message from her saying she was QUITTING doing LASHES. I had to clarify with her that she was NOT going to fulfill her commitment to the 3 appointments she had just scheduled. I asked if it was about money, because I was willing to pay more. And she never bothered to respond. Interestingly enough her FB page still shows many photos of her lash clients, including her avatar photo. As another reviewer wrote, "Stability is important" and I certainly don't feel like that was what I got from her. I wasn't going to write a review initially, but the more I thought about the more I realized that it was important. Good customer service is necessary in a business that requires retaining customers and acquiring new ones. Perhaps Robin will learn that by bad mouthing clients to other clients and cancelling appointments because you don't "feel like" doing something is not professional. This was the best facial I've ever had. Robin is thorough, comprehensive, and professional. She's seriously the absolute best. She takes her time and doesn't rush you through as I often experienced with other aestheticians. My skin has never looked so good after a facial. I've been going a few times a year when I found last fall that she would not answer my calls or texts. I have always been outspoken to others about how good she is, including on her FB page, so I reached out to her there and we set up an appt. Two hours before the appt. she sent me a text and told me that I had been flagged as a customer who either was a no show or nontipper and she refused to see honor our appointment. This has never happened. I tip her $20, which I think is fair, and was always so excited about my appts, I would never intentionally miss one without contacting her. Due to the lack of consideration to me (my day was planned around my appt) and lack of business-like behavior, I have to her low marks. A more professional approach would have been to either not make the appointment or contact me after it was made to let me know she was not going to see me. Her behavior seemed very odd to me. Stability is important when the person is holding a blade to your face. I'm very disappointed but there are plenty of other estheticians out there. read more

When I walked into the salon, the only question she asked me was if i was an esthetician already. She was very abrupt when I was talking to her and did not explain anything to me as she was doing it. I did not know ahead of time what was involved with dermaplaning and she didn't explain anything to me - only telling me not to move. the only "advice" she gave me was that I had bad skin and the only remedy was never to use moisturizer. I also bought the Cincysavers deal as a gift for my mom's birthday. I've called multiple times to try to get her an appointment on her actual birthday. I finally got an incredibly rude message back from someone who did not sound like the cheery person you hear on their voice mail. The person (who, I believe, was actually Robin, but never said) SCOLDED me for not leaving my name, date and time for an appointment! This was in reference to the SECOND message/ 5th call I had made! I gave them my phone number so that they could call me back both times... I would think making an appointment should be a dialogue anyway. Clearly, they don't. I called again 10 minutes later and once again couldn't get through! Do they not want business?? I'm young and don't have much money. I wish I had bought something my mom could actually enjoy.. (edit) My mom finally got an appointment after having to go down herself and make it in person. My mom is the sweetest person in the world and said it "wasn't so bad", but the way she describes the treatment sounds awful. On top of that Robin nicked her face, leaving a scratch on her lip. When I arrived she was prompt, professional and examined my skin thoroughly. A friend recommended that I go to see Robin as she loved her and swore by her product. I am 24 and have never had any kind of facial, mini or extensive and felt that I was getting to a point where I needed to start taking care of my skin more than just washing it and fighting off the occasional pimple. I have combination, oily skin and started getting acne a few years ago, just a breakout here and there, but it was leaving me with dark spots and using more cover-up than I used to. Robin immediately put me at ease by taking the time to ask me about my skin and then thinking to problem solve all of the reasons why I break out in some areas and not others, and what I can do at home to prevent it. She explained everything she was doing my face and what it was doing to my skin, while taking time to show me the gross dirt and oil that was under my pores, man was that a wake up call. my experience was beyond educational while extremely relaxing as well. I know that seeing Robin every few weeks is the best tool a girl can have to fighting aging and maintaining the healthiest, best looking skin out there for such a reasonable price. All of my friends and coworkers immediately noticed how my skin was glowing and looked much healthier. My makeup goes on smoother now, and my face is as soft as it's ever been. Also any breakouts I have had since, immediately come to the surface and are resolved within a day, thanks to Robin removing all of the dirt and oil that was clogging my pores and causing a breakout to take days to surface and then another week to clear. Now a small pimple is my biggest problem. Highly recommend!!! I was given a voucher for dermaplaning with Robin and instantly looked it up on here to see if she was any good. I read comments about her being "unfriendly" but good at what she does. I'm a soft hearted/sensitive person so this intimadated me a little. I had my appointment yesterday and have got to say it was not what I expected. I was first thrown back at how beautiful she was, that's irrelevant but again, based on the reviews I pictured something different. She was very informative and answered all my skincare/makeup questions before we even went back to the room. She continued to give me great tips and advice through out the visit. She seemed motherly in my opinion and like she was being her self. I prefer that over someone being overly cheerful and fake the whole time. Moving on... everything was perfect! It was 10 minutes past my appointment time when I received a call from Robin. I answered not recognizing the number, thinking it may be information about my family member. I absolutely have NEVER experienced such unprofessionalism in my life. Upon entering (yes I was 2 - literally 2 minutes - late because I couldn't find a parking spot) she didn't even greet me, but rather said, "I thought you weren't going to show up." I said, "Oh. I'm only 2 minutes late. I just couldn't find a parking space." She then continued with her previous client, completely ignoring me. After about 5 minutes, she handed me a form and just said, "Medical form." No eye contact. She was still cleaning up from previous appointment (and I was the one late?) After another 5 minutes she finally told me to come into a room and then said that I hadn't confirmed the appointment. Right there in my hands, in my text messages, I had proof that indeed I HAD confirmed. She said, "And you're the one who told me your skin was sensitive." I hadn't even spoken to her on the phone! I tried to reach her by phone but was instructed in an abrupt voicemail to ONLY text, as if it's out of the ordinary to phone in for an appointment. Unbelievable! So I insisted, no I hadn't said that. And she said, "Yes you did. Because I was wondering why someone would even to do this if their skin is sensitive." First of all, I don't have that kind of skin, second of all, there was no direction to not come if that were the case. UGH! I can't believe this woman runs a business! Finally she got me on the table and proceeded to berate me for not having confirmed. When I tried to show her my phone, she said, "That's enough. Case closed. No more talking about this." Just had my first facial by Robin on Sat. It was an hour of relaxation and wonderful results! She first did dermaplaning, which I had never experienced. It made my face feel so soft and smooth. Then she followed that with a cleans, toner and chemical peel. Finally she applied a light moisturizer. My skin hasn't looked this good in years. She provided me some tips for at home. I just had my first facial with derma-planing. It was also my first visit at Faces by Robin. I was nervous since derma planing exfoliates your skin using a blade. Robin did not explain what she was doing which would have made me feel more comfortable being my first time. Later she did discuss my skin with me and the benefits of derma planing which I appreciated. I had a good experience and my face felt smooth afterward.
