As a specialist in Brazillian waxing, I expected a high level of professionalism and cleanliness. My biggest concern was with the fact that the wax was not sanitary. I studied at an esthetics school in Montreal and the first rule of waxing was NEVER double dip your spatula, etc. Unless policy at Skintreet is to use a fresh pot of wax for each client (which I doubt) the esthetician was not following this golden rule. The method was: bare hands, into wax pot, onto skin, wax area, hands back in wax pot. In comparison, I have never been to a SINGLE salon or spa that does this. The estheticians wear gloves or at least ALWAYS use fresh spatulas EACH time they access the wax. I've had several Brazillians since, and all were less painful - which is less of a concern to me than the cleanliness issue. The price ended up being around $70. I hate leaving bad reviews, but this was just plain dangerous. It's possible this esthetician is no longer with the salon, but it was enough to make me not consider going back. I *doubt* such a high end salon doesn't follow sanitation policy, and it was likely just a rogue case, but it'd be worth asking about if you make an appointment.

I made my daughter a hair appointment for her birthday with the salon owner, Katarin, who has cut her hair once in the past to fix one of her employees botched cuts and at that time really did a great job. Now moving forward to this one that was a little too technical for her I guess, my daughter has very long hair and she requested long layers with a few face framing and some curtain bangs but wanted to keep the length. She also expressed that she doesn't use heat on her hair so needed something low maintenance. 2 hours and $130 ($15 tip included) She left with what she thought was an ok-ish haircut but not until she got home did she realize how awful it really was. Her hair looked choppy and uneven, her bangs are an absolute disaster and far too short to do anything with and a razor must have been used incorrectly because her hair went from looking super healthy to looking like every hair had split ends. When I was done listening to her cry, I booked her in with my stylist who confirmed my conclusion of a botched job. Feeling that a haircut that should have been simple shouldn't cost me $200, I called the salon to request a partial refund as I did believe that the time put in (albeit, 2 hours on a simple haircut is outrageous in my opinion) I felt she should be paid for partial time, well, She thought different. She told me she did nothing wrong, asked my why my adult daughter isn't calling herself and why she wasn't given the opportunity to fix it. Well I will tell you Katarin, I called and booked the appointment, I paid for the appointment, it was a gift from me and she was unhappy with the cut but has a nice relationship with you so was scared a to offend. Also, in my opinion, why on earth would you go back to someone to fix a mistake they made but still don't see? So you can do irreparable damage??? Makes no sense. Anyway, Katarin started off kind enough to listen but her tone definitely changed as my complaint went on. I guess when it comes to hair and what you want as opposed to what you get at this salon, really is a suggestion rather than a fact or want. We will not be back for another $115 botched haircut and to be questioned rudely by the one who calls the shots.

The place is clean and modern, plus there is free parking at the back. Evening appointments are usually available, which is are very convenient, and you can book online. What more can you ask for? It might take a bit of getting used to sugaring if you are used to waxing or threading, but the results are well worth it IMO! I never even consider going anywhere else now.
