I've had bunions ever since I was in elementary school and I didn't know how I got them until I saw Dr. Shoaee and the PT she referred me to. My gait was causing my feet to form this heinous bunions (ugh). Prior to seeing Dr. Shoaee, I was a little weary about getting them removed because I could not find a podiatrist in San Diego with a lot of reviews or great bunionectomy reviews. Any surgery is a huge investment and commitment with the pre- and post-op responsibilities.I decided to go to Dr. Shoaee after months of looking into podiatrists and orthopedists in SD and OC (yes, i was willing to make the commute). Thank goodness I decided to give this office a go because now I am 6 months post-op on both of my bunionectomy with osteotomy procedures. The whole process was smooth thanks to Karina (the main MA), she made my experience a lot less stressful than I had anticipated. Dr. Shoaee is great at what she does and takes the time to evaluate and make sure that you understand what the procedure and post care will be like. She listens to any concerns you might have and answers all of your questions with care, making sure you're reassured and that you know what your next steps are (pun intended). They have been at this location for 20 years but I was just informed that they are moving at the end of January 2024 to a new location in Escondido near Palomar Hospital. Their name will change too. The staff are personable, friendly, and really put you at ease. They called me prior to the procedure to let me know insurance/payment details so there were no surprises with payment or what was expected. Hopefully I won't have to visit again but If I do need an out patient surgery center again in the future, this is the surgery center I will choose.

The woman Dr. Arun LITERALLY saved my vision. The staff got in right away. Dr. Arun rose above and was so calm and professional. Her demeanor made a huge difference. Her treatment was life-changing. (You take your vision for granted until something happens to the contrary, for which I am forever thankful to this skilled, gifted ophthalmologist.

At my August 26th appointment, my doctor explicitly told me--and their website confirmed--that I would receive my results in 2 to 3 days. When that timeframe passed with zero communication, I contacted Sharp, only to be informed that their in-house radiology department is currently 7 to 14 business days behind. I have been dealing with severe pain since that appointment and have an upcoming consultation with an orthopedist on the 8th. Because of this failure, I won't even have my basic radiology results to support my care or show my specialist. It is completely baffling and unacceptable that an in-house department can fall this far behind in modern healthcare. Shame on Sharp for failing their patients to this degree. If you have any alternative options, please go elsewhere--it is clear that things are only getting worse here.

Unfortunately, my experience with the doctor was different. I came in years ago while dealing with a health issue I had never experienced before. I was understandably very anxious and overwhelmed at the time. I recognize that I was under a great deal of stress, but much of that came from being scared and unfamiliar with what was happening to my health. I was looking for guidance, reassurance, and someone who would listen to what I was experiencing. I was given certain protocols to follow, and I did my best to follow them as instructed. Unfortunately, they did not work for me and actually caused additional issues. What was especially difficult was feeling that my concerns were dismissed because the same approach had worked for other patients. I understand that a treatment may be successful for many people, but every person and every body is different. When something wasn't working for me, I really needed to feel heard and taken seriously. I'm sure the doctor has helped many people and that others may have had very different experiences. I can only speak to my own. For me, the experience left me feeling unheard and invalidated during a time when I was already scared and vulnerable. The appointments were also quite expensive, which added to my disappointment. I hesitated for a long time before writing this because I don't like leaving negative reviews, especially after so many years. However, the experience had a lasting impact on me, and I still carry some of those feelings today. I hope that sharing my experience can serve as a reminder of how important it is for patients to feel heard, especially when they are struggling or when a treatment is not working as expected. I genuinely wish the doctor and the practice well, and I remain very grateful to the staff for the kindness they always showed me.
