My friends & I wanted to try a New Mexican food joint out & we stumbled upon Fabos Tacos on our search & decided to give it a shot. It's located in China Town. Parking is street parking only, since it's downtown. The restaurant has a cool vibe, more modern with touches of traditional taqueria decor. The food was good! I unfortunately did not get to try the al pastor since we went later in the evening & they didn't have anymore, but they are known for their al pastor. No complaints about the food, everything tasted good. The only thing keeping this from being a 5 star review is the price, I do feel it is a little expensive especially for the amount of food we got. $4 each for the small sides of beans & rice was a lot in my opinion. As well as $4 for the small cup of horchata I got. The hot sauces were flavorful but lacked heat. Which can be a good or bad thing depending on your preference. Ordering was easy, they had menus at the register. The cashier was nice & friendly & brought our food to our table. Overall, the food was good but I don't know if I'll be coming here often due to the price & it just being far from where I live. My last night in Portland, I wanted to check out an arcade. I knew the arcade had food, but I wasn't in the mood for vegan food. But, I saw that there was a taquería next door. I'm so glad I stopped in. You order at the counter and food is brought to you. I asked for cheese enchiladas. I was asked if I wanted meat with those, but I grew up with just cheese enchiladas, so I didn't ask for meat. I did order a carne asada taco. No fountain drinks. I hate drinking canned/bottled sodas. There are many mixed drinks, but I'm not a drinker. To the right of the register, there is a big dispenser for water. The carne asada taco was not worth the money I paid for it. Delicious, but it was 2 bites. I could have eaten it in one bite, however. Avocado salsa was nice and creamy. The salsa picante was spicy and had great flavor. Black beans are not my favorite, but in the absence of pinto beans, I will eat them. The rice was super fluffy. I added some of the salsas to the rice. Those enchiladas were exceptional; perfect in every way. Next time I head to the arcade, I'd happily return to this taco shop for some enchiladas. read more

Fabos Tacos recently opened their full restaurant, after years of operating out of a grab and go window. I think their takeout window is still open but this is a nice option to sit down out of the rain and enjoy the meal. It's located right in Old Town so it's not everyone's favorite place to go. They have metal on the doors and windows to protect them. But cool spots like these, and the neighboring Ground Kontrol, are what will revitalize this neighborhood so it's worth patronizing them if you can! This interior space is cool! A great wall mural, a Jarritos display wall, and neon signs make for nice photo backdrops. They've got table and bar seating for about 30-40 people. Service is great. They make all their food fresh daily and really know their ingredients, so you can ask for modifications. I got a burrito with vegan filling (made with soyrizo) but kept cheese. This burrito was big and tasty! Good texture. I enjoyed it with both the red and green salsas. This business has an almost cult-like following for a reason. They treat folks like family, make great authentic food and come up with fun specials, and are open late night in a city that goes to bed early. Definitely recommend supporting this biz! read more

This little shop is so authentic! I love their birria tacos, but the rest of their tacos are also delicious. In addition, I had the pollo, asada, and pastor tacos. Note that this review is for the sit down space on 5th, north of Ground Kontrol, and not the window on 4th. I'd walked past it a couple times after work, and didn't realize it was open as the doors are boarded up with plywood painted black. A coworker mentioned seeing an article about the taqueria them on Eater, so stopped in for lunch last week. Once you get past the boarded up doors, the interior is actually very warm and well decorated. I was starving, so ordered both the ceviche as well as birria ramen. Generous amount of ceviche, served with what appeared to be house fried tostadas. The tostadas were solid, with a nice heft to them and they kept their form while also being easy to snap into pieces that were larger than a regular tortilla chip, and that were perfect to get scoops of ceviche, especially as I worked towards the bottom of the bowl/cup. I know I'm late to trying birria ramen. The birria itself was fantastic, with a nice rich, flavor. I struggled a bit with the ramen though, as it felt like pure novelty, and I think I would have preferred corn tortillas for a carb aspect instead of the noodles. My brain kept expecting the salty umami of Japanese ramen, not the richness of the birria flavor. I think it could have used a little kick - some fresh jalaepnos would have been a nice touch - but in the restaurant's defense, I didn't think to ask for any till I was nearly done. I think if I got the birria again, I would get the queostacos and not the ramen, as I think the saltiness of the queso would better compliment the birria than the ramen noodle did. This company catered the 2025 waterfront blues festival and what a disaster. It was the food was flavorless and bland. It had zero flavor as if they didn't use a single grain of salt. The tacos are tiny. The tortillas are soaked in grease and on top of all of that, they ruined their tacos by adding pineapple, which is a horrible idea. They claim that authentic Al Pastor tacos go with pineapple. Absolutely delicious, was a little cautious given the area but suprisingly it was fairly clean on the streets and sidewalks. This restaurant has a charming and comfortable interior with a small bar. I was leery of traditional Mexican street tacos for lunch but this place just rocked it. I had three of the quesotacos, which seemed to be shredded cheese melted into a flour tortilla. Birria was flavored perfectly as was the chicken. Two sauces on the table, mild spice red and mild green. It's now 6 hours later and I don't have that heaviness feel that you sometimes get after a taco lunch. I was impressed, even more so that it appears downtown is coming back? This place was delicious. I got the Suadero tacos. Rarely do I ever see a place in Portland that offers this cut of meat, much less makes it as delicious as here. I will say the staff felt a little standoffish, but it's a fairly new business and it was kind of busy when we went so I definitely understand. My boyfriend got the sopes and those were really good to not too much masa and just enough meat with cilantro and onion, my favorite is the sauces they provide one of them is a red sauce and the other is like a green avocado sauce. It's so good and creamy. I could've downed a whole container of it. The space itself is cute. Finally made it into Fabos and it didn't disappoint. Had the chicken and steak tacos respectively as well as the pastor nachos and they didn't disappoint. Green salsa is perfect sauce for all. Red sauce has a bit of spice (which was nice). The special margaritas with either the salt or tajin rim were the perfect accompaniment. Pay parking lot across the street offers good access to the restaurant. No where in Oregon gets them right, and we've tried everywhere. These are damn near California quality and certainly the best ones we had. Even the asada taco was good, and asada tacos are always bland to me. The Al pastor tacos were amazing and fun, the virria tacos were our favorite, and my horchata inspired drink (Henny-Chata) was good. We will certainly be back. Came here looking for a new place to eat at considering the lack of Hispanic food out in Wilsonville saw their reel come up in insta one day and decided to come down and try it for dinner. It did not disappoint, their location looks amazing the ambiance was everything I would've expected from a Hispanic taqueria! Food and the speed of service and how quick the food came out was awesome! My wife had the sopes plate and I had 4 tacos of birria which despite the small tortilla size was just as tasty and they gave me consume which is an amazing bonus! I was still hungry so I ordered 2 queso tacos de birria and the owner/manager of the place threw in an extra for free which by me earned it an all around 5 star rating!
