Best workouts I've ever taken is here. Every class is a different workout focused on either cardio or strength training. I'm never bored because of the intensity and variety of workouts. The studio has great coaches who ensure everyone is doing each workout effectively and safely. It's never a dull moment and even though workouts are tough, I feel amazing afterwards. One of the best aspects is the focus on nutritional education...without an additional charge. I've been to other workout spots charging for this service. F45 integrates this in their program to make sure fitness goals are achieved. The studio is clean with modern equipment and the coaches are super nice and helpful when needed.

Soooo if you haven't been to F45 you need to go do a trial! It's definitely my favorite workout studio by far. They have many locations in the DMV and most are doing 3-day to 7-day free trials. The type of workout is circuit training which incorporates lifting/weight based, cardio, and HITT. The location I went to we did "The Empire" which was an incredible workout.....three days later and I'm still sore Shout out to the trainer @maddie_harty she was so friendly and helpful to new comers! Also, this location is taking extra precautions to ensure safety through temp. checks, staying at stations, wearing masks when leaving an area, social distancing, and wiping/spraying down equipment after use. It's worth finding! It's like a fun fitness party. The workouts are all a bit different and all incredible. I felt stronger and more energized after starting at SweatBox. The main SweatBox classes offer a combination of cycling, weights, and more in a high-intensity interval training format. It's a full body workout. Expect high energy, upbeat music, dim lights, and plenty of sweat. There is also a Stretch and Mobility class that is great for loosening up tight muscles. The instructors have a very positive attitude and inspire the students. This isn't one of those studios where you'll feel shamed or intimidated. Much of the credit goes to the Studio Manager, Gwen, who is also a fantastic instructor and lovely person. Gwen makes sure that everyone gets a great workout while having a great time in class. SweatBox is super lucky to have her! For me, it comes down to this: SweatBox motivates me to beat my own personal bests. I saw huge changes in my endurance and confidence after only a few classes. I would definitely recommend giving this studio a try.

But I was mainly there doing personal training with Mike and he was definitely the best trainer I've ever had! I've had many trainers in my life but he got me from 23% body fat down to 10% in 3 months not to mention I gained 5 pounds of skeletal muscle mass and went from 227 pounds to 196. All that change in just 3 months is insane, granted I followed his advice to a T and whenever I wasn't training with him, I would be staying active by biking, hiking, burning as many calories as I could on my own time. He also gave me great dieting tips to really maximize my gains by recommending an increase in protein and more carbs on workout days. All in all, if you wanna get in the best shape of your life and fast, do CrossFit, and if you wanna be picky, choose Brazen Fitness!

Amy & her husband, my coaches were a surprise Amber and Meredith-Grace!!. They even surprised us with a feature of a martial arts/self defense instructor! and he showed us some moves!!.... That workout was tough!!! I'm STILL sore even with only doing 3 sets each of different activities! I did the 18lb kettlebells & other things whole body felt like noodles!! But well worth it!!!... I loved that it was simple challenging they had army training guys on hand and my spotter was a 70 year old cool diabetic who taught me things I could pass on to my LOOOVE so it was a fantastic place and day!! I hope there's more classes because blind/vision impaired ppl are ppl too we just need a little more time and patience to navigate the world. I've been coming for about 8 months now since their elementals class which gives you the basics on form, what to expect in the classes, etc. These were fantastic and I highly recommend to familiarize yourself to a CrossFit workout. Now I'm addicted and come about 2-3 times a week along with other workouts I do. In just 8 months, I feel like I've made so much more progress than in any other fitness routine I've done. I'm strong, toned, and I have never been injured here.. just a few bruises and sore muscles. Oh but it hurts so good, because I really see and feel the difference. In just one hour, you'll have the best workout of your life every time. The coaches here are really amazing and make sure they watch your form and make modifications so you don't get hurt, but truly you have to understand your limits and ask questions when needed. I'm amazed that my torn knee and back have not bothered me at all anymore now that I've strengthened the main and accessory muscles. I feel so strong!!! Thanks for making me feel like such a badass!!!

The coaches are so positive and motivating, as well as thorough in their pre workout demonstrations and make those small corrections in our movements that make all the difference in our results and the burnnn! The HIIT circuits are setup so nicely, flowing through about 10 different stations and leaving the whole body worked by the end of the class. These classes are pretty solid for building muscle but you're not going to get huge or insanely strong with this style of workout. This will be more for toning muscle/athletic build as well as gaining functionality and work capacity. It's nice that it's all based on time rather than numbers so everybody can go at their own pace. However, if you really want to push yourself as hard as possible, then I'd say this targets the heart and lungs more than anything, and health is what it's really all about. This is even true in the resistance classes, which you always leave with a serious pump. The weights you're using aren't as heavy as CrossFit which mostly allows for you to push yourself in a safer and higher paced manner and there's more variance in exercises and movements than Orange Theory without the concern of running injuries so while all of the big name HIIT enterprises have some advantages, I believe F45 is the best because it has the most well-rounded diverse stimulus mentally and physically and therefore has the most potentially for truly being "in-shape", healthy, functional, and athletic because you're more motivated to consistently train hard and allowed to do so while staying injury free. If I have to knock it I'd say that some of the exercises are more body building oriented (fly's and curls) than I'd like, but most are also performance based. I will also admit, if this were my only training then I'd definitely like to have heavier weights on resistance days because those end up mostly being muscle endurance for me (which ultimately is more important than raw strength if I'm forced to choose). I'd also appreciate a little more sprinting but I know that greatly increases the injury risk so I understand the omission there. Also if there was more space, I would love to incorporate something more explosive like med ball throws and rope climbs. All in all though, considering the energy in there, the results you'll get from start to finish only sacrificing 45 minutes to make the rest of your day better, and possibly even have another little social outlet, this place is great!

THE BLACK AND WHITE: I remember when this place in it's old spot down the road. I'm glad they moved because this space is 2x as big and 5x as nice. They've upgraded the restroom situation to 2 rather than a single unit! Gamechanger. My experience is mainly with olympic lifting competitions, namely Cap City Open. That competition is traditionally held in the Spring and on a Sunday. I participated this year and was pleasantly surprised at the new gym. More lighting and 2 platforms for simultaneous lifting made this year's event run very smooth. Aside from the lifting event, the gym has a plethora of equipment (aka toys). There are plenty of rogue rigs to perform squats, pull ups, ring dips, etc. There were also some unknown rigs (yeah i'm talking about the monkey bars) scattered across the gym. As for the programming, I would assume it is like a traditional crossfit class: warmup, strength, and then a VO2 max conditioning wod. That's something I would call and confirm with Trident Crossfit. THE FINAL BAMBOO: Huge space. Great Coaches. Awesome community. That is all.
