He worked steadily with me at my pace, gently nudging me along with encouragement and good humor, and always understanding the limitations of my 55-year-old body, but not letting me use those limitations as an excuse. I have learned so much from Adam, and thanks to training with him regularly, I have become so much stronger, with greatly improved muscle tone as well as a distinct improvement in my cardio strength. I am now a better skier and a better bicyclist. I still work with him long-distance, and it has been a very rewarding relationship. I have had several trainers in the past, and none of them were even half as good as Adam. I highly recommend Adam as a trainer.

Unfortunately, my experience changed over the past year. The membership price was increased twice within one year, and the second increase was with less than a month's notice. I also had a few interactions with staff that left a bad impression. On multiple occasions, I felt that staff members were rude, short with us, and seemed genuinely annoyed to even be speaking with us. One particular interaction stood out to me: the owner came into the gym while we were working out and questioned whether we were actually members. We were, of course, active members, so being approached and questioned that way while we were simply trying to work out was uncomfortable and frustrating. My biggest issue was when I decided to cancel my membership. I canceled on the 6th, which was the day of my billing cycle, and was told that because I didn't cancel before the 6th, I would not receive a refund for the month. I had not been made aware of this policy. When I asked to see the policy, I was told there was no actual policy document and that it was explained when members sign up. I was also told that it was my responsibility for not asking about it beforehand. What was frustrating was that I specifically asked before signing up about cancellation fees and whether there was a contract or lock-in period. I was told that I could cancel at any time and that there were no lock-in fees.

That was not the case. Kelly is so knowledgeable about form and positioning and how to teach it that I haven't had any trouble. She is also incredibly intuitive to individuals and what they need to continue to progress. She asks great questions to understand what your body needs to be successful. She is great with women and knows how our bodies are different and what they need. The eating plan she designed then helped me to understand actually works and helped me feel and look better. Professor Paul Tom is a black belt under Flavio Behring, one of the only red belts in the world of Jiujitsu. When I started training here over a year ago, Professor Paul welcomed me with such warmth, and I knew instantly that he cares deeply about the growth and development of his students. In addition to his excellent lessons on the many techniques and their details, he is an excellent storyteller (especially the ones about Rickson) and always makes the extra effort to improve our game. I felt deeply honored to receive my blue belt from him. Professor Paul's two sons Nate and Trevor are also black belts who provide a fresh contrast to Paul's "old school" jiujitsu, by focusing on not only fundamentals, but also sport jiujitsu as well. They are also amazing instructors with awesome hearts. -The Drilling. There are days where we only focus on drilling one specific move, or days when we focus on sequences and/or several moves. The curriculum here is well developed based upon the core principles of posture, pressure, and precision. All instructors and upper belts also make great efforts in walking through the details with you and addressing student-specific needs. -The Sparring. There are no meat heads here trying to smash complete beginners (and if they somehow enter the dojo, there is always someone here who will be the enforcer). Everyone is super chill and purely interested in working together to improve. If you are new, I highly suggest sparring with a purple belt or higher, so they can guide you in learning how to spar with the greatest effectiveness and highest state of calm. -The Family. I will miss training with people here. It is like a little family, and all members who stick around will become friends and find a tight-knit community of fighters that will not hesitate to protect one another and their loved ones.
