The first time I came, I was still fairly new to tabletop gaming so I wasn't sure what to get. I had my eyes set on Agricola but after talking to the associate I realized I wasn't ready for such a heavy euro game just yet. The associate asked us what we liked and then basically went through their entire collection with us, pointing out and explaining various games that he thought would appeal to us. You don't get customer service like that anymore! All the games are also much cheaper than you would find at Chapters or Mastermind Games. They've also got tons of other nerd stuff like comic books, figurines, and superhero paraphernalia. It's located in Richmond Hill in the business/warehouse district off a windy road called West Beaver Creek. The address is easy to find, lots of free plaza parking, it's next to a kids dance studio and very visible store sign. Nothing sus like another yelper stated. Inside is very spacious, clean and bright. I love how organised the shelving for new games were laid out and they even more games in back. Off the walk in, I was greeted immediately and four employees were excited to help me. They are game experts and could name off suggestions for games quickly, to pair with similar games I had in mind. Super fun to nerd off in the board game world here! I always cross reference with boardgamegeek.com first when planning to new purchases, but asked them in person to see if opinions lined up. I was impressed one employee was quick to suggest ones I never heard of. Prices are good to fair. I felt no pressure to buy anything there, they even offered if I wanted to test ones that they have opened or to get a feel of the pieces(card game quality for kid durability is real). I left with buying three games I had eyed online, and excited for the suggestions for the next visit. They have a free loyalty program, can't hurt to sign up when you're a board game investor, as this is one place to bookmark. No food or cafe noticed here, unlike other board game places. The owner of Manta is one of those. He oozed with trading card knowledge and knew things from different releases off by heart. He knew his inventory like the back of his hand so that if we mentioned a card, he had an idea if they had it or not and found it for us. Thanks for helping us to find multiple fat Pikachus for our collection. Outside of Pokémon, Manta has a variety of TCG and collector items. I saw One Piece, Disney, YuGiOh, etc. There's also a sitting area which looks like a place where tournaments are held. You also know a shop is great when you have other shops recommending them, which is how we found Manta in the first place. They came highly recommended from another hobby hot spot of ours (Three Kingdoms).

Apparently they also offer a consignment service where you can sell your products through them? Not too sure the details but there are shelves full of seemingly random stuff so if you're looking for an escrow to help sell valuables this could be an option..... You can come in and play games all day for a flat price of $7 (up from $5 six years ago, which is impressive). Have to bring in your own drinks though as there's no cafe although I guess fantuan does exist. Maybe there's a fridge of canned drinks I wasn't paying attention. There is also an annual membership that you can buy that includes various perks including a discount rate of $5 to sit and play Owner is friendly and knowledgeable and can teach various games, so if you're looking to learn something new or bring in a group for a board game event, this place is a fantastic option.

I have no idea where the poor ratings come from. My experience has been the complete opposite of the people disparaging the staff. I would also poi9nt out that Tamiya is Japanese, not Chinese, and the other brands (Traxxas, Redcat Racing, Arrma) carried are headquartered in the U.S., to my knowledge.
