Marcello was a great instructor! Animated, passionate, and extremely knowledgeable about surfing. He had lots of stories and experiences to share-- I think hearing all the negatives helped normalize the challenges so when/if things happened we weren't panicked but could be more relaxed. He was very patient and prepared us well with what to expect and educated us on the foundations of surfing. Marcello and his son were really good about teaching the basics and helping in the water to get acclimated and coaching us on timing. We thankfully had perfect weather for learning-- this was the first time ever surfing for all of us but everyone in the group managed to be able to get up on the board to catch some waves! We cannot say enough good things about Marcel and Victor. Attentive communication leading up to our lesson, including recommendations for where to park, confirmation the evening before of good weather conditions, and even let us know when he would be in the water with another class and unavailable to answer his phone. Our boys are 6 and 9 and Marcel and Victor were both GREAT with both kids and adults (the kids are the faster learners!) Marcel gave great explanations and then took us out (one at a time at first) on the waves and provided all the instruction we needed... all 4 of us had multiple successful rides before our lesson was through! We would definitely book with them again and highly recommend to anyone looking for a unique vacation experience! read more

Marcello is incredible!! He gave such clear instructions and expectations days before the lesson. Day of called to make sure we were ok with a different location for better waves. Had some thunder and lightning and he gave us the option to leave or wait to try again which we did. When the beach closed due to the weather he sat with us and shared about his travels and surfing knowledge. My kids ages 21 and 18 had an amazing time! It was a lot of fun. He is so informative and a very good instructor, goes out in the water with them and makes sure they are safe and getting good opportunities to ride the waves. I'd go back again next time we visit. Our first adventure into surfing was an amazing experience, from the detailed talk through, the practice on the beach, and then the actual surfing it was an all around true enjoyment. We booked lessons with Marcello for a Thursday. We were gonna drive up from Miami, we thought we'd go to Ft. Pierce but Marcello recommended Boca Raton as the place with the best chances for some nice swells on that particular day. We met him at the designated time and... no swells. But Marcello was really cool and took the time to explain the science behind swells and waves to us, and then we parted and agreed to try for Saturday. Marcello texted me in the morning of that day and said that unfortunately there were no good swells that day either. So ultimately we didn't get to surf which sucks, but I did want to leave a review on how professional, responsive, and helpful Marcello was. He seemed like a genuinely nice guy. He didn't charge us anything which was really nice considering that he had spent time and effort meeting us and keeping us informed about the conditions etc. We will definitely reach out to Marcello at EZ Ride Surf School next time we're in the area. AWESOME. I was concerned about EZRide because there's only one other review here, but they have a ton of reviews on their website. So, I went for it, and I'm super glad I did. The teacher is so passionate about surfing and sharing that passion with you. I got the impression that he was the kind of guy that could tailer his personality to you - I imagine that if I were, you know, a stuffy straight business guy, he could be completely serious as well, whereas I imagine with kids, he's really laid back and fun. He's very easygoing. I'd never seen a surfboard in my life - I'd never even been in the ocean before. So, I was petrified. The instructor made sure I was comfortable, kept asking if I was okay, said he'd stay next to me the whole time until I felt safe - he was really cool. I was in Boca Raton. The lesson was maybe half an hour tops on the sand, where he went over how to be safe, the science of the waves (which was interesting), and I practiced standing on the board for maybe ten minutes tops in the sand, and then we were in the water! I thought for sure that wasn't enough sand time to be able to do anything in the water, but he walks you through it and I totally stood up the first time. My boyfriend and I got a lesson from Marcello today and it was fantastic. Found him through reviews online - once we booked the lesson, he was great about communication. At the lesson, he spent time going over safety, important information about the ocean, and the basics then we went in the water. Ive gotten a surf lesson before but my boyfriend was a complete beginner. Marcello was thorough with his explanation, which is often skipped in the first lesson (ends up hurting you in the long run) so thank you Marcello! We both learned a lot and rode a ton of waves. Marcello is great. I took one lesson with a different surf coach in Fort Lauderdale before finding Marcello...I'm glad I found Marcello. With his help, I went from a total beginner to beginner-intermediate very quickly. And most importantly, he helped improve my confidence, something that I think can make or break someone's ability and willingness to continue to surf. Marcello is punctual, professional, he takes a credit card if need-be (but I prefer to pay him cash), he picks the right surf breaks depending on your skill level, and he's just a nice guy. Sometimes I text Marcello for a local surf report. Other times, even when I'm not taking a lesson, if he sees me at a local surf break, he affirms the things I'm doing correctly, while pointing out things I could improve on with valuable advice. Surfing is about much more than catching a wave: it's about choosing the right board to ride for your skill level and type of wave you're surfing; navigating yourself on a board in the water (even when paddling out); establishing your position in the lineup; knowing how tides affect the surf breaks; taking care of your surfboard; and ways to improve your surfing when you are not in the water (exercises etc.). Marcello will guide you through all of this. As someone who has lived at, and surfed, the most famous surf breaks in the world in Hawaii, Marcello is a skilled and experienced instructor. read more

I had a great experience surfing with this school. We had to reschedule a couple of times because of the storms, but Marcelo called me the day b4 and early in the AM to notify about the weather. Marcelo was a great instructor, we had a quick surfing lesson about the ocean& techniques before going on the water. Marcelo was attentive on the water to see where I struggling with and to give me tips and help to fix it. I really recommend surfing w then if u wanna get a basics of what it means to surf and get constructive criticism on ur surfing skills. I decided to take this class because I wanted to have one last surfing lesson before taking the ocean by myself in Costa Rica, I can say t was worth it. I left that day confident that I could start my journey with the ocean, and I did! The reason I give a 4 star is because of the price. It is not a cheap lesson, but overall it was a 10 for me! They are very professional and they won't talk bs, they know the forecast, the water; they will make sure you will get the best of what you are paying for! So definitely do it w them if u can. My husband and daughter took a private lesson with Marcello earlier today. Having never surged before, both were a little nervous and were not sure what to expect. The entire experience was a pleasure from beginning to end. Marcello was informative and helpful when we first called to schedule the lesson. Meeting him today at the beach, he was friendly and made us all immediately comfortable and at ease. After giving a brief talk, they were quickly in the water and standing up on the boards almost immediately. He made the entire experience a joy and gave plenty of great pointers. We did a family lesson with Marcello. He was fantastic. Our family consists of a nine year old girl, sixteen year old girl, my husband and myself. Marcello dealt with each of us individually, giving each of us instruction. By the end we had all gotten up on multiple waves and even had a visit by a huge manta ray(beautiful and harmless) that apparently frequents the area. I had just gotten back from surf camp in Nicaragua with lady instructors who were easy, awesome and patient; excited to continue learning to surf I wanted a one-on-one private lesson. I made an appointment. The forecast called for rain so I called and left a message for Laurie about my $75 deposit for the appointed lesson. I then received a call from Marcello the instructor who said they don't refund deposits regarding rain and if that's the case we would stay on the beach and talk about surfing. I expressed I was concerned that I didn't want to spend $150 sitting on the beach he quickly shut me up, corrected me and said I insulted him; that they're honest people and that wasn't the case and the only way they wouldn't charge me was if there was lightning and thunder. I proceeded to tell him about my experience in Nicaragua in which he downplayed and said numerous negative things. At this point I returned to positive and just went along with everything. My lesson was rescheduled for several weeks and we finally went out. We did indeed talk on the beach at length about all his knowledge. He asked about my Nicaragua experience and I cringed as he said I went at the worst time of year and other numerous negatives aspects of what I felt was a blessed trip. For the record in Nicaragua, I had a 15 minute spiel and was surfing on my own the whole time. I got up 4 times with Marcello after a 45 min talk on waves, safety, forecast models and all his experience and frankly I couldn't relax as I was nervous and tense. He made a comment that he didn't think I was serious about being a surfer and I said yes this is more fun in learning. They are Christian based so as a Christian I kept looking for the good as it was a beautiful day and beach in Boca. Marcello is very proud about his surfing so don't try and compare any other experience because you will lose. read more
