My lashes are already pretty full and so it can quickly get heavy. In the end I got very long dramatic lashes and I'm not really happy. If this was what I was going for then absolutely it was a great job but now I'm stuck a look that I don't feel the best in. Okay so I finally have the chance to write a review about this place. It's been two days since I got my lashes done but the picture attached was taken the night of. First thing is that you are automatically charged $13 before you even get started which includes 10% tip and tax. The lady who did mine was Lily. She hurt me twice and the end results were pretty disappointing. She put one piece of lash way too high on my left eye which she took off after I showed it to her. Then the right eye seemed a bit off... it wasn't aligned and some pieces higher than others. I explained it to her but she didn't see what I was trying to say. I got 12 inch, gorgeous styled J curls 80 pieces. Honestly, you're better off putting on falsies instead. It looks too natural which seems like I didn't even get extensions. I was confused on this part because I am used to tipping at the end but after my session, I went to the cashier and they told me I could go. Will this become my permanent go to for lashes? The customer service and efficiency were impressive but I was disappointed on the job. Shortly after leaving, I looked in the mirror again and noticed numerous lashes were going in all sorts of direction. This gave me the flashback of getting them done at Asheville at a sketchy apartment for double the price. I bought a Groupon deal for this place. This was the first time I got lash extensions so I wasn't sure what to expect. When I arrived, they asked what I was looking for and showed me examples. I chose based on what their feedback was for a natural look. Then I was led into the main room and instructed to lay down and they put a comfortable blanket over my torso which was great. There was a guy who did the prep work such as putting some vaseline or something and tape around my eyes (I guess to make sure things came off easily around my lids?) and then a lady started working on the extensions. I felt some minor pokes here and there, but otherwise, it was relaxing because I fell asleep. When it was over, they handed me a mirror and they looked slightly off, but I attributed that to my weird eye shape since I have monolids with slight creases. I also felt like something was poking my lids but thought it was due to the glue still needing to dry. I figured it would be fine later. A few days passed and I still felt the poking and the lashes were sort of uncomfortable because they felt a bit heavy (I later found out there was an excess of glue in some areas when I went to another lash place and they removed some of the old extensions; they also told me the lashes were synthetic). Honestly it was my first experience so I was learning everything as it went. I think this place did an ok job. I can't say much to the lash type (mink or other materials) because I know nothing about this. The service was fine and the place was clean. Never again!! I got a horrible reaction right after the lashes extensions, both eyeballs were injected. Especially my right eyeball was extremely painful and sore, it was even worse the next few day:( and I had to go see the doctor. So I went to get my lashes done last night after getting a Groupon. They were pretty patient with me while I was debating length and style. Sometimes you worry about being treated different when you have a Groupon, but I didn't get those vibes here. You do have to pay a 10% tip ahead of time, and I gave her an extra tip on tip of that so she would feel less inclined to "slack" on my lashes, if you know what I mean. Sucks you have to do that, but that's the Groupon game sometimes. It was comfortable and clean (and quiet). We were given sanitizing spray for the bottom of our shoes (there was some for hands too). Ok... on to the real issues. While I was getting my lashes done though, I noticed that the technician spent a lot of time prying the lashes apart after the glue dried. So she would isolate my lash and place the extension, but released the tweezers far too quickly. So by the time she came back around to that area, multiple lashes were stuck together. This happened like every other lash. I would flinch or say ouch, but she still wouldn't let the glue dry for a second longer. I have a high pain threshold and didn't hurt too bad but as someone who does lashes myself, I could recognize the problem. The bigger problem for me...I chose the "cute" style, which is longer in the middle and shorter length in the inner and outer corners. My lashes all look the same length, and my left eye has even longer lashes in the outer corner than the right. And one long lash in the middle that I had to trim. Also there is a random white lash. Don't know how that happened. Good news is I didn't have much fallout on the first night. But I have wonky lashes and I don't even want to try to trim them because we know when you trim your lashes, they become blunt and busted basically I will post pics in this review when I can take them with some good lighting. I also know that my lash experience does not reflect the services they are capable of doing. I truly hope that by using their services that they would want to wow me but instead they were not willing to give me more than what their services was worth. so when I look at myself in the mirror I'm not pleased with the service. I received but when I look at how much I paid for this service I don't think they really cared whether I would like what I received or not and this is where I am conflicted. if you use a Groupon to drum up new business, if you want to attract returning customers, you have to give them your best service the first time and I felt that the service I received was crap now the reason why I'm also conflicted is because I don't want to throw the baby out with the bathwater. One of the employees helped me pick out the lash type and length. Then we into the room, the beds were clean. They had the paper removal sheets on the beds so it was hygienic and clean for each customer. When my lash technician did my lashes, I did feel some discomfort. Her work was not the greatest, my lashes do not look even and appears to have a gap. I still tipped about 20% even though my lashes did not come out as nicely as I hoped. Granted, I was a bit skeptical of this place when I went to the 6th floor and the whole floor is being renovated and a sign pointing to the store. You walk in and it is def small. But there are 4 beds, so can accommodate a few simultaneous appointments. The guy at the counter was very nice. And then another woman greeted me and we discusses what kind of lash extensions I would like. I have never had this done, so I wanted to be conservative. I had a $70 50 mink lash service for $35, and oh they are featured in Time Out magazine, so you know they are legit. We decided on natural and normal length with a bit of curl. Another woman ended up doing my lashes. The table that we lay on is comfy and this service is so relaxing that I fell asleep. It was a nice 30 minute power nap. Nice soft Asian jazzy music playing and a quiet atmosphere. They were also able to charge my phone while I was getting this service. After 30 minutes, the service was done. Nice! No burning or irritation and now i have natural playful extensions. They also told me that I may need services every 2-3 weeks. So we will see. While I was there, I overhead a conversation with another client. Apparently, that client had her lashes done elsewhere and it was not a good job. So they didn't want to take her, asked her to come back when the lashes fell out. Wow they turned away business because of safety. I was impressed. Another woman only had an AmEx card and couldn't pay and they weren't bothered by it at all, she would just pay when she came back. They prefer CASH, will take other credit cards but not AmEx. So be prepared. This place is owned by Korean-Chinese. They said "Chinese people" in Korean and I understood and I said, "yes I am Chinese." And then they started speaking in Chinese to me. Once I got there the lady asked me what style I wanted which included Glam, Sexy, or Cute .. yeah I know, decisions decisions :) I opted for "Glam" and 1.5 hours later after having my eyelids taped shut & all sorts of crazy thoughts running through my head about what I was going to look like .. I was introduced to my new lashes! I'll let the before & after pictures do the talking. I absolutely loved how my lashes turned out, & they were definitely noticeable while still giving a very natural non-Nikki Minaj vibe. The lady who did my extensions was very gentle, & even added in some additional lashes free of charge to make sure I had an even look. The lashes lasted for almost an entire month without requiring any mascara. One of my eyes lost the lashes at a faster rate that the other eye so I added a little mascara & it looked totally fine. The first two days I had my lashes I washed my face with a damp towel as to avoid water coming into contact with my eyes. In the first 3 weeks that I had my lashes the only additional makeup that I wore was tinted moisturizer, bronzer, & blush. Once I started to notice a few of the eyelashes had fallen off I used a little eyeshadow & mascara. The only problem with using additional eye makeup is that makeup remover & cotton balls/wipes sometimes catch the lashes & pull them off. I've been coming here for almost a year now and I've never had a bad experience until my last visit. I normally have all my appointments near 12pm-2pm but this one time I had work in the morning but it was my last day for a touch up so I placed an appointment for 6pm. So i lay down on the bed per usual, and I just finished working so I doze off. The instant pain jolted me out of my sleep and she didn't even utter a sorry. Thats when the rest of the service began spiraling downhill. I was wearing lipstick that day and never had I had a technician do anything near my mouth. But she managed to swipe my lips several times. & When applying lashes to the opposite eye she would rest her hand on my eyelid, which also never happened before. It wasn't painful but all my previous experiences were so delicate and peaceful, nobody wants to have a hand resting on their eyeball while theyre tryna sleep. THEN she began talking/yelling above my head with another male technician. To other people in the room it wouldnt be considered yelling but she was couple centimeters near my ear. Seriously? Then when she was done she lifted my shoulders off the bed and basically tried to kick me out. She didnt apply the liquid that they normally do at the end and she didn't even pull out the caddy underneath the bed she just said bye and continued her conversation with her colleague. All the times before if technicians were talking they whispered and made sure the experience was peaceful. The service should be consistent because there are many other places that will glue fake hair onto your natural lashes for way cheaper. Overall this place is good. I've been a loyal (albeit intermittent) ELL customer for almost 7 years now! I get lashes maybe once a year for special occasions. It's so nice to have a business with consistent, reliable service. Whenever I go, I love my results. I even had a situation a few visits ago where my eye got irritated and they were very professional, with great customer service, taking off the whole set the following day and allowing me to come back in a week or two to have it replaced free of charge. In the 10 or so times I've been there, I've had an issue only once. That's a pretty good track record! Plus, they often have great promotions which I highly recommend you take advantage of! Seriously though, their mink lashes are so realistic looking and if you take good care of them (i.e. avoid getting them wet/diry ((makeup) as much as possible, brushing out twice a day) they could last up to 6 weeks!!
