Here is the thing about Jackie Ha: she is a perfectionist. She has a vision of what will work for…read moreyou, but runs pictures and ideas past you first to make sure sure you agree. She did a trial for my wedding hair and make up to try different color palettes and took pictures to decide if she liked the outcome. She experimented with a couple of other colors before deciding on a combination of effects. With all of the other decisions and things I had to do the weeks before the wedding, it was a huge relief to be able to rely on Jackie to choose the right look for me and my bridesmaids, as well as setting up the "get ready" schedule and sending it out to the girls. A prime example of Jackie's rare blend of knowledge/maturity and fresh/current style, she took one look at a picture of my wedding dress and saw what no one else would have--that if I wanted a half up-do, I would need to have extensions to make the hair hit the back of the dress at the right place. I never had extensions before and was nebulous, but it ended up being a huge hit. She matched my hair color perfectly and found the right length and put them in in record time. She is at once attentive and intuitive. I was already set on using Jackie for my important day, but the final reason I felt comfortable with using her besides her excellent reputation among my friends, was that she said she could also cover up the big tattoo on my scapula (you are just not thinking about your wedding day when you are 19 in Amsterdam craving a tattoo from the same artist that did Antony Kiedis from Red Hot Chili Peppers, are you?). It is red and black and thick (Molly the Jackhammer was the artist's name, guess how much it hurt?)--and Jackie worked a miracle that will allow me to look my future children straight in the eye and tell them no way no how are they getting a tattoo, "Mommy can't let you desecrate your sweet skin that way--see my unblemished skin in my wedding pictures?" The only other time I have had professional make up done at a wedding, the crew left once the ceremony started, but Jackie will stay for touch ups for pictures and, in my case, helped me take off the veil and add flowers to my hair so it would look different for the reception. She is also currently about half the price of other wedding make-up artists. And a quick note on hygiene, Jackie noted that the brushes and mascara she was using were just for me and had all been sterilized. I typically don't wear very much make up and still didn't break out after the wedding. Finally, Jackie is a perfect combination of efficiency and kindness. Each of my bridesmaids felt beautiful and were taken care of in about a 30 minutes. Instead of adding to the stress of the day, Jackie brings a dose of calm along with the curlers and lipsticks in her box of tools. She is a rock star that I recommend without reservation for every demographic.
