I had a really good experience during my appointment. They answered all of my questions as I had just been diagnosed with diabetes, I was a little nervous as it seems it can affect your eyesight but I was given very helpful information about it all. The only reason I didn't give a full 5 stars is because when it came to the billing I had to press with more probing questions to get a full answer other than yes or no. I just wanted an itemized receipt showing what I was paying for as I ordered contacts and opted to do the test where they do not dilate your eyes and it is not covered by insurance. The price seemed a little steep but as it seems it was my contacts which is the ones they recommended and even after my insurance I had to pay a good bit out of pocket. When we check in we are told that it going to be a bit of a wait. Question, can we charge them for being late with our appointment??? To think that this is the second time I am using the eye clinic and both times I got the insult of my life. They forgot to add a service to my bill. A week later I called to see if my glasses were ready and she said we forgot to add a service to your bill. you have to pay up before you pick up your glasses. I wasn't pissed off about paying that but that you are going to be rude to me because of your own mistake sounded very stupid to me. No apologies for your own mistakes. To crown it all she hung up on me. I will never recommend Eyecare Plus to my friends or anyone else. I will be going back to vision works where my whole family has been for years. I was new to my Medicare Advantage plan which had an annual vision allowance and contact lens/glasses. I made an appointment for the annual exam and contact lenses. I made the statement numerous times that if it wasn't covered by insurance, don't do it. At the end of this visit, I was charged $126 for "contact lens fitting". I received my contacts in the mail and assumed that all was paid. A month later, I received a surprise bill for $279, after stating multiple times that if it wasn't covered, don't do it. If you are coming in for anything other than a basic eye exam, watch your billing. We were referred under medical a few weeks after an exam at LensCrafters showed my son was showing something wrong with the retina in his right eye. We gave Eye Med Plus a copy of our medical card. Not only did they not run it under medical, but rather vision, the did a whole nother eye glass exam (something not needed). So now, in 6 months (after treatment) when we will need to get another eye glass exam to see if the prescription has changed in that eye, we will have to pay out of pocket. When I called billing, Jessica told me they did that because it cost me less going through my vision. But as I explained to her, per the insurance company, what he was there for was not covered by vision, but rather medical. She never did explain how they could have gotten it covered through vision after the insurance company itself said it would not be. I am getting copies of billing with codes because the only explanation I can figure is the billed for the eye exam as a glasses exam because it paid them more. Or someone did not pay attention to what the referral was for and figured that we were at their mercy and did not care. And Jessica in billing (btw, there billing is not onsite and handles multiple locations which is convenient for her because here answer for most pertinent questions was, "you'll have to call the location"). AVOID THIS PLACE!!! We have never had an issue like this at any other eye doctors office. This is ridiculous. read more

Bad Bad place for my eye exam, expensive... for bad experience before, my last visit I was clear and told them I only wanted the exam covered by my inssurance, the front desk woman told me she need my insurance medical card, I told her why ?? my vision insurance is VSP and they do not send us card, but they insisted, then I gave her my medical insurance card, when I go inside for my exam I told them again, I only wanted my eyes exam covered by insurance. Only saw the doctor for maybe 2min and in that time everything he said to me flew in the face of what every other optometrist has told me. I was trying to understand but he only seemed interested in getting me out as quick as possible. Terrible experience. Showed up for my appointment at 9:20 a.m. upon arrival there were only two people in the waiting room. I got called back at about 9:30. I thought this was a good sign. But I was wrong. After being shuffled from room being seen by different techs. My last stop was being put into a room and told the Dr. would be right in. After waiting for numerous minutes and still not been seen by a Dr. Mind you I have been in this office for almost two hours. I got fed up and left. I've been going for the past few years and the staff is very caring. The selection to chose from is great. The hours of operation is very convenient. The only reason I'm giving them a 4 is that when I arrived there was an angry, scene-making customer in the building. I had my seven-year-old daughter with me and didn't like her having to witness that sort of behavior. The staff was very courteous to the lady, trying to calm her and help her out. She just seemed to want to cause a scene, though. I think they should have asked her to leave. The other issue I had was a lady clipping her fingernails in the waiting area. Disgusting! So far all they have been able to do is process the charges against my credit card. Calls are never answered by a person and my voice messages have not been replied to. Funny thing is I was promised 'EXPEDITED' service due to the condition of the glasses I am using literally falling apart. So much for my eyes and their care, the onlly PLUS is added to their prices. PS Store manager told me my lenses had been in the store for TWO days. NO ONE CALLED. NO ONE EMAILED. This store is run by an idiot. I tell him that I was not called and he tells me, " yes you were." To a country boy this Dumbass just called the customer a liar. Besides, they had my private line with an automated voice mail... they did not call. So on my first call to them for status (if anyone had listened to it and checked) they could have told me my lenses were ready for pick up BUT they did not call back. Updated review. Had to come for a follow up and this time I requested a morning appointment vs an evening appointment based on my previous experience where I had to spend 4 hours, which I think is just inexcusable, specially since I was not a walk-in. At any rate, this time I only spent 1 hour total, there was no mess up with my paper work, and the staff was very professional. I was seen by Dr. Schmidt, which wasn't neither a better or worse experience than Dr. Yi, they're both polite, but as is the case in most practices nowadays, regardless of the specialty, doctors spend the briefest amount of time with patients. My son and I had appointments here. Me for new contacts, him for a red eye. At the contact fitting, I expressed that the prescription was too weak, but they didn't give me a prescription that I needed. I have headaches everyday, but I used my eye insurance for the year. For my son's allergy, they charged hundreds of dollars for unnecessary tests. Instead of helping him, they saw him as an opportunity to make money. I highly recommend that should go to the people at Eye Care Plus, especially if you have issues with your eyes due to diabetes. The whole staff of doctors is quite knowledgeable and thorough. They will discuss with you every option if there is any issues with your eyes as it pertains to diabetes. They will bill your medical insurance for this type of care. The one thing I love is that all of them have access to my files and are able to give me what I need in order to take better care of not only my eyes but myself as I am working to keep my A1C levels low. Before they even suggest any type of surgical method, they would try all other methods first. So I do strongly suggest that you do go to Eye Care Plus. It was quite refreshing to go there even during the coronavirus issues that at the time of my visit we were facing. By the way, they do not permit no more than a recommended number of 10 people or less if you are reading this during the coronavirus crisis. They are very thorough and very clean making sure that each patient gets the care in a clean and caring environment. read more

I went to Eyecare Plus in Antioch yesterday and was impressed particularly with a technician who was thankfully very helpful to me. I am disabled and peoples actions are very noticeable to me all the time. I think her name was Keisha, but not sure. She was really a sweetheart to me and it was appreciated. I also really liked the doctor. She took her time and answered all my questions. John, the young man who assisted me with my purchase of new glasses was quite impressive too. Over all, it was an enjoyable experience. I would recommend this facility to anyone! read more

AWFUL PLACE!! Do NOT visit. My mom went there to get her eyeglasses adjusted, and the person working there broke them. My mom said it was fine, bought a new pair. She spent over $300 on them. When she received them after getting lenses put in, she asked to have them adjusted... and the worker broke them AGAIN! It gets worse: when the manager came out, she claimed that my MOM broke them and that she has no proof that they did anything, therefore they will not do anything to help. How DARE they claim that my mom broke them - when they did it RIGHT IN FRONT OF HER EYES. Not only that, but not ONCE did they apologize or say sorry for breaking not one, but TWO of her glasses. So now not only has my mom lost over $300, but she is an elderly lady that depends on her eyeglasses to see - and she doesn't even have a single pair left. She asked if they could at least provide her a cheap pair to get her by, and they still refused and claimed it was "not their fault" and therefore wouldn't do anything. They then say the operations manager AmyJo will call her tomorrow. My mom waits, waits, and finally gets a call days later. It rings ONCE before AmyJo hangs up. It's like she is purposely trying to avoid my mom. My mom calls her back multiple times, and AmyJo refuses to answer. After begging them to at least attempt to fix the glasses they broke, this place refused to do anything to mend the situation, and till this day, my mom never received an apology. They still claim my mom broke her own glasses. This place does not have integrity. I will be sure to tell everyone to stay FAR away from this place and to NEVER give them a piece of business again. My first visit to this location was on Monday, May 1. I decided to come here, as opposed to VisionWorks across the street, because of their competitive pricing. I regret my decision. When I booked the appointment I informed them that I have visited Eye Care Plus, but not this particular location. Gave the young man all of my updated information. I get to the appointment which was at approximately 11:30am. I get checked in, the young lady informs me that I could be seated and that someone would be right with me. About 20 minutes passed and I was a little confused as to why I was still sitting. I go to the desk and asked - I was than handed a clipboard with information that needed to be completed. WHY WAS I NOT GIVEN THIS LENGTHY INFORMATION WHEN I FIRST CHECKED IN? I'm finally called to the back where I'm greeted with "techs" with jackets over their scrubs, which I'm sure is not acceptable with the Health board. One young lady was sitting at the machine on her phone. Totally unprofessional. I'm finally seen by the doctor and as she's wrapping up my visit, she mentions to me that my visit would be submitted to an unfamiliar insurance company. I inform her that that information was incorrect. Remember, this information was previously updated. Appointment times aren't true appointment times. You end yo waiting for extended periods of time. When the techs wipe the machines down with alcohol pads, they leaving them soaked & expect you to just place you face on them. read more

I had my eye exam done there and my glasses. Both were a pleasant experience. The staff was friendly. It was fairly busy, but I did go on a Saturday. I expect a weekday would be much more relaxed! I went to pick up my glasses today and it took about 1/2 hour to get them. That was fine. The problem that I had was that when they brought them to me, I tried them on and they fit just fine. Of course I have to get used to the prescription, but other than that, I thought I was good to go. Well, i go to my car and glance up at the rear view mirror and discover a spot on the side of the right lens. I think its just a smudge and pull out my cloth and rub it. It does not come out. Upon further inspection, I discover that it i a scratch. You talk about livid. I go back into the store and show one of the clerks. He tries to wipe it as well and sees that yes, it is a scratch. You're telling me that the technician didn't notice the scratch or that they didn't think I would notice the scratch? Either way, I have to wait until tomorrow or more than likely Monday before they can be fixed. I paid $365 for these glasses and feel that I should've walked out with $365 worth of glasses. I'm gonna see if they offer a discount or at least a free cloth or something, if not I will never go back. This was the worst. Walmart does better than this. I honestly believe they knew about the scratch and was hoping that I wouldn't say anything. Unacceptable! read more

Great service. All the specialists here are very friendly and super nice. However, if you bring your own frame, you have to pay them $25 for "not buying their frames". That sounds weird but I've never tried other Eye Care centers, so maybe it's a common thing. Anyway, I'm happy with my experience here. My wife and I both got new glasses from this place a little more than 2 years ago and at no small price. We both got progressive lenses, edge polish and anti-glare coatings. We both have very poor vision and our glasses are quite thick and expensive. For a few months we satisfied, but then we both noticed fine scratches on the lenses. We returned and left the glasses so the technician could buff out the scratches. About three months later we were back with the same issue. We returned and were told by the technician that we were cleaning the lenses improperly. I told them that we were cleaning with only water an a lens cloth and pointed out that I had been wearing glasses for over thirty years and had never had problems like this. The tech actually insisted it was our fault and started muttering under his breath about how angry he was getting! The other optician noticed the tension and examined the lenses This time they blamed the anti glare coating and removed it. About four months after that I noticed the lenses were becoming foggy. I pretty much had given up on theses glasses and had been wearing my old pair most of the time since the first issue. When I went back I was told the lenses were now out of warranty. I wish I could post a picture of the lenses now. They look like they got too close to a fire. We will never go back to this place and will warn anyone we can to not go near there. read more

I have been to this store three times trying to pick up a pair of prescription sunglasses. They continue to make careless errors like putting clear lenses in them instead of tinted for sunglasses. I will never go back. And I will have to make the fourth trip if they don't Fed Ex them to me, which is what I will ask for now. Just updated my review from 1 to 5 stars.
