Riley is extremely patient when doing my pretest. Devon is able to make sure my eyewear fits perfectly. Dr. Monarch continues to give the best eye exams resulting in keeping my eyes healthy and my vision in optimal. I absolutely love my new glasses and sunglasses and found my new contact lenses to be extremely comfortable. I would recommend Monarch Eye Care to everyone who cares about their eye health and quality vision.

I am trying to get results and they want us to come in for a medical visit and will bill our medical insurance to get results of retina scan. I asked them to email or I Will pick up results tell me when it's ready. They can do a screenshot of the image they took as well as a summary of results. I get a call today saying it will be $25 plus $5 each eye for them to email results or if I pick up will still be $35 per person to pull the files. Is this legal? We have had retina scans previously by other eyecare drs in Summerville and have gotten results the same day wihile we were there at no extra cost. I called state LLR licensing, there is no record for Monarch eyecare or Diane monarch?? Other than them billing our medical insurance for result of this exam which just on principal I don't see necessary (just a way to get another payment for what was already paid) the only other way to get result is for us to pay them to retrieve the records. I have spoken to Davis vision and the other eye dr who's filled the prescription for the glasses and this is not the way it's done. Two insurances getting billed for our exams. I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau to look into this. I would avoid this office in the future.

    Lengthy and honest review from a fellow healthcare worker. This was my first visit and needed a…read moremedication eye exam with dilation. The tech was friendly but basically did my entire exam. I asked if she would put the drops into the corners of my eyes rather than directly in as I had eye trauma as a child. She pried my eyes open and put in the drops resulting in me jumping and drops pouring down my face. I got placed into a waiting room and the tech came to bring me in to wait for the doctor. She then came back and said she had to run another test and brought me into another room. Nothing was explained. I was then put back into the room to wait for the doctor (I'm an hour into my appointment) and I saw the doctor for approximately 5 minutes. I was sent out to the most unpleasant front desk employee. She told me I needed to come back in a week for a visual field test checking my peripheral vision and those tests are only done on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I happened to be there on a Monday but feel like they would have me come back anyway for an extra visit charge. This was not explained during my visit. I asked the woman if this is their medication eye exam protocol and she said "I don't know why you're having it, but the doctor ordered it." She then asked me if I had a refraction. I told her I don't know what that meant and with a very rude tone she said "did you get a new prescription for glasses? We charge $70 for that." The prescription was in her hand from the doctor. Luckily the other front desk woman who was markedly more friendly said I do not need to pay that as it's my first prescription and not a change. I was handed my prescription and out the door I went. Eyes dilated, no offer of sunglasses, or asking if i had a ride. I don't expect to be catered to, but I also didn't expect to walk out the door and think "what just happened?" Reading other reviews, I didn't have high expectations but my insurance covers this particular provider. Needless to say, it was a very uncomfortable environment and I would rather pay out of pocket with better customer service and care.
