Went here for an emergency visit. Scheduled and seen for severe eye pain within a day. I sat in the waiting room for over an hour but it wasn't unexpected, being an urgent visit scheduled pretty last-minute. I was a little worried I wasn't going to be seen before they closed for the night but once we started getting close to closing, the pace started picking up. The tech was super friendly and the doctor was polite, friendly, and knowledgable. He took a look in my eye and found a tiny piece of metal in my iris - no idea how that got there but he numbed my eye on the spot and removed it with some fancy drilling magnet. It was actually kind-of a scary procedure but he talked me through it and I barely noticed how scary it was until after he had removed the object. He set me up with a bunch of samples of solution to help treat lingering pain and a followup visit to make sure everything was okay. Despite the wait it was still a great experience for an urgent visit! Do recommend. read more

Dr, Silverman performed my lasik surgery over the summer. The procedure went amazing and was very quick. The staff was very nice and friendly. Sometimes you have to wait a little to see the doctor but it is highly worth it. I recommend lasik by Dr. Silverman to everyone. EyeCare 20/20 doesn't take my insurance so I go to another eye doctor for routine visits and even he asked who did my lasik since they did such a good job. read more

I have been a patient of Dr Cary Silverman for over 3 decades with parents also patients of his when they were alive. Over the past many years, because Dr Silverman is very busy, I have been given appts with Dr Nicholas Xanthos so my children have also been patients of Dr Nicholas Xanthos since they were young and go yearly for exams. My middle daughter who is away at college recently had pink eye. She could not get an appt at the college health center for a week. I called Dr Nicholas Xanthos for help. Dr Nicholas Xanthos said that he could not help because she wasnt seen in the office for her yearly which was overdue by just a couple months. She didnt go for her yearly because she is away at college! I was shocked! I am so bothered by his response! My 20 year old daughter has been a patient since she was young... has been going yearly for exams until she left for college. Such horrible treatment and response by Dr Nicholas Xanthos. Never going back here. Complete racket. They do everything they can to push you into making additional appointments rather instead of handling minimal things at once so they can keep billing you. Never have good times available for them too. Went in to get a higher prescription for lenses, they required me to sign a bunch of billing waiver forms in advance of speaking to a Doctor (you know, the ones that say if we decide to give you additional tests without discussing it with you, we are allowed to charge more $ for it). I asked why I can't just agree to sign those forms after discussing with the doctor whether anything would be needed - they said we don't let you speak to a doctor until you sign the form! Signed them regrettably, and met with doctor. Doctor decided they wanted to have me come back for more 'routine' testing just so they could get some more billing out of me. When I asked about the higher prescription, I was told I need to come back another day for that to confirm the contacts would fit. I showed that I have the contacts in my hand since I've been wearing them for years, so could we please do that now. NOPE! COME BACK! No thanks - stay away! read more

I have battled with contacts to correct my terrible vision for nearly 20 years. I was scared, and hesitant for years now to commit to LASIK surgery - the irrational fear that I would be the 1 in 1000 that wasn't successful. Dr. Silverman put an end to all of those fears in my very first consultation as he took his time answering all of my questions, explaining the process and recovery in terms I could easily understand and never speaking in medical terms that had only confused and frightened me in the past. My consult was thorough, and the staff members that lead me through step by step were friendly and knowledgeable. The day of my procedure I did wait a little longer than i had expected, but as with any doctors office schedules aren't exactly easy to maintain when patients scheduled before you are not on time. It has been three days since my LASIK procedure and I could not be more pleased. I have already told friends and family who may have been on the fence to go see Dr. Silverman, and they will not be disappointed. Today I had to call the office with a question and it was answered by a nurse immediately - no need to leave a message or wait for a call back. This is the worst eye care facility I've been too. I have been wearing glasses since I was 10 and contact lenses since I was 16 and I am now 32. I moved to this area recently and was looking to get my contact prescription renewed so I made an appointment. I show up to my appointment and they do the regular eye glasses exam and tell me that for the contact lens exam I have to go through the fitting process since I am a new patient and they will contact me when the test contacts are in. I agree to this thinking they will call me back in 2-3 days. I call them a few times to get status and eventually 1.5 weeks later they tell me test contacts are in. They then tell me the next available appointment is in another week. I end up telling them to just cancel and I will go to a place that will see me today for contacts. The lady on the phone just yells "WHAT THE HELL, SHE HUNG UP ON ME" and hangs up on me. I call back to say no I was still on the call and to just cancel this order. 20-30 mins later, i get a call back saying they can see me the same day and to come in at 10am. I end up saying yes to get this to get it over with. I waited until 10:45 to be seen and the appointment was rushed (completed in under 5 mins just walking to two rooms) and there was absolutely no fitting done. So pretty much they charged me $60 (copay) for just waiting around band walking and free test contacts read more

Had a great experience with my Lasik surgery. Dr. Silverman was very thorough with testing before determining I was a good candidate for Lasik surgery. The surgery was fast and painless. Less than ten minutes and I was done. The only bad part was that I couldn't go to the spa or in the lake for two weeks. Facility is spotless and the staff are very friendly. Been seeing Dr. Silverman since they were located in Parsippany at the old office. I typically see Dr. Xanthos now since he accepts my supplemental eye insurance. Dr. Xanthos is great. Very pleased and always able to have been seen when I want to, just call in advance cause they typically are scheduled out a few weeks. Contact lens prices are excellent for a doctors office, mine are typically as cheap or the same price as the online lens stores. Appt. wait times are sometimes long, I've come to expect that. The desk personnel are hit or miss, I've noticed its been better customer service over the last 2 or 3 visits. read more

The office staff left a bad taste in my mouth. After receiving a bill for my annual eye exam, I called the office several times to see if they can help me file a coordination of benefits with the eye care insurance plan since they had only filed it with the medical insurance plan. The office staff repeatedly said I needed two appointments on different days because there were two parts to the appointments (1) visual field testing and (2) additional testing. I thought visual field testing was part of annual wellness eye exam. Instead, the office had filed all the testing through medical insurance rather than my eye insurance plan. Since the office staff was not willing to file a coordination of benefit, I called the eye insurance company seeking clarification. It is not an issue to have the medical and vision exam done on the same day; all the office has to do is a simple process whereby the office staff just needed to call the eye insurance company for backdate authorization and submit EOB received from the medical insurance. My two issues with this: 1. The office staff did not help me with this claim - is it due to lack of knowledge by the staff on billing, which it seems unlikely because isn't the billing department familiar with claims submission? Or is it their unwillingness to go the extra step to help the patient with the billing? Is this the culture of the practice? 2. I do not understand the rationale for having two separate appointments on different days. If this was the case, shouldn't they have been more insistent with me to schedule 2 separate appointments so that they could bill the medical and eye insurance separately on different days? read more

EyeCare 20/20 is absolutely a wonderful. I went in for an eye exam and to get fitted for contact lenses. Dr. Silverman and Dr. Seyman along with the rest of the staff took excellent care of me. Have been a patient here for 8 years and the medical care is great. Patient handling leaves much to be desired. My last appt. was around lunch time and that was a big mistake. I was there for over 2 hours for a routine checkup. It usually takes less than an hour for this. I waited over an hour after getting drops in my eyes. Saw Dr. S. and other staff leave out the back door for their lunch break while I sat there. Then other patients who arrived after me were taken before me. The last straw was I wanted my eyeglass Rx and was told I had to get it from the optometrist (who was busy with a customer and had other people waiting). I refused to wait any longer and asked the front desk person to give me the Rx and she was not happy to do it. You can treat your patients better than this. read more

After discussing with the pharmacist the eye drops prescribed by eye care 20/20 for my elderly Father on aug 7 we decided to request a different antibiotic drop. Of course we needed the doctor to change the prescription. It took over 2 days for office to respond even after several calls from the pharmacist and myself. Not very organized. Had to wait 2 months for appointment, showed up on scheduled day and time (Thursday) was told the doctor I was scheduled to see only works on Tuesdays. They then offered to reschedule 2 months later. What a waist of time. It didn't seem to phase them so it wouldn't surprise me if this isn't a regular problem. read more

DR. Jachens is an amazing doctor. I struggled with vision and dry eye issues my whole life. I never was able to see well in my glasses due to high astigmatism and my eyes were always to dry to wear contacts. I have been to many different eye doctors and nothing ever changed. My.first appt here, this doctor fixed everything. He diligently made sure he was giving me the right prescription for my eyes. We continued to adjust the lens until I could see unlike other doctors where if I read a few.letters on the board it was okay and they sent me off. He truly made a difference in my vision. read more

If you are looking for a personal one on one care this is not your place. As a matter of fact I spent $205 for an eye exam that didn't even include a prescription for contacts! When my eye exam was completed the person handling contacts was at lunch. I was then told they would fax me the script for contacts. Which I don't have a fax machine so asked for it to be mailed. The person never followed up and when I called back I was informed I would not get a script bc I have to be fitted for contacts and pay a fitting fee!! This place has poor service and is a rip off. Go to Costco, great prices,personalized service and no games! read more

Dr. Jachens is very approachable and takes care to explain procedures and diagnosis. Dr. Silverman is not so; you are left feeling like a business transaction. The office staff is indifferent! I called to inquire about a bill and my call didn't get returned for 6 hours! They didn't post a co-payment that they required at time of visit. I went directly to the office and showed them my bills and receipts and advised I'd like to pay when they corrected the bill! Chris in accounts receivable reviewed and told receptionist to issue new statement. NO APOLOGY offered! When Chris called me back finally, she didn't remember I had been there 6 hours earlier and paid the bill. Again no one ever apologized for the error and appreciated my making a special trip to the office to show them their error and pay the bill!!!! read more

We scheduled lasik the price was 6000. My wife counted 5000 cash gave it to me. I counted 5000 plus gave check for 1000. They later told my wife they only had 4000 cash and needed 1000 more. They stole 1000. I filed police report hard to do anything. They claim why would we do that we are a reputable business. I noticed people don't leave good reviews of staff. Someone there took 1000 cash and either they all know who or one person there knows exactly how they ended up with 1000 cash in their pocket today. Ended up paying 7000 for 6000 surgery. Not honest. Maybe the surgery is done right but we were cheated of a lot of money. They even said first they counted 100 short 4900 then 900 short 4100 then they claimed 4000. We know how much we came with how much we left with. Here is my suggestion. Tell the staff they are all going to be let go until the guilty party returns the money. They don't have to do it in front of anyone just put it back. Put some kind of pressure so that someone else who may know what happened but doesn't want to talk will come forward. I asked if they had cameras they claim no. They should have them right at the counter. It would show every single bill im counting. Pretty convenient having no cameras. I have no problem with Dr. Gunzberg's examination. She was thorough, interested and engaged. She decided I needed a corneal mapping. I'm not sure why that additional procedure was necessary but, she's the doctor. The technician had difficulty performing the refraction vision test. She had my vision estimated as +3 or +4. I told her my corrected vision is: left eye (-2) and right eye (-3) and showed her my prescription from last year from a different ophthalmology office. I see very well with that correction. That was sorted out and I ended up with refraction readings identical to what I had in the past. The problem I ran into was when I asked for the contact lens prescription. Only then was I told I had to see the "contact lens" specialist for fitting and training! That was at additional cost and they will not give me the prescription without this "fitting". I have been wearing the same brand and size of soft lenses for the past 5 to 6 years and soft contact lenses for 35 years. I receive an eye exam annually. I received a call from one of the physicians telling me that is their policy although I was never informed of this additional payment policy and never experienced a demand for extra payment for a prescription at other ophthalmology practices. Seems like the office policy on contact lenses prescriptions should be made clear to new patients when they arrive prior to the exam. read more

My husband and I recently went to Eyecare 20/20 as first time patients. We were told that a "small portion" of our routine eye exam may not be covered by our insurance. A few weeks later we received a bill for $175 each!! I called the office for explanation and I was told I should be more familiar with my insurance. Really?? The office did not tell us upfront they didn't accept our insurance. I asked that they disclose the full amount to future patients and I was told that was not their responsibility. I will not return to Eyecare 20/20 and I would strongly suggest you don't either. This is shady practice. read more

The doctors are excellent but office staff is horrible! Waited 5 weeks and still cannot get anyone from the office to contact my insurance company for approval of a prescription. i have called more than five times and even asked for the office manager. Everyone is always busy or at lunch. You can never speak to anyone and your calls will never be returned. I have never experienced anything like this at any other office. A simple five minute phone call could have resolved my issue but apparently this office is too busy to help fill the prescription written by one of their own doctors. He took care of a surgical procedure that I needed to have done for years and was putting off. He made so easy for me, as did the staff in the surgical center. I went to get fitted for contacts in April and, after trying out several types, I "settled" on a set of of lenses that weren't great but ok. In December, I injuried my eye removing a lens and called for an appointment. They couldn't seee me for three days, despite me telling the desk staff that my eye was swollen and red. When I went for my 3:00PM appointment, I waited and waited and at 3:30PM I inquired how much longer. I was told Dr. Rispoli had two more patients before me. I was really annoyed and said this was not acceptable. The woman at the desk told me the reason for the delay was because "we went automated some months ago". I asked her what in the world this had to do with anything and she said it was the reason the doctors run late. I asked her if she knew this, why then did she schedule me for 3:00PM. I left, eye still injured and will not return. I only tried this group because my husband saw Dr Silverman and thought he was quite good but I couldn't get an appointment with him for a long long time. I'm going back to good old Dr Greenspan where the service is prompt and there is always time for an eye injury! read more

I would love to have found out if Dr. Silverman was a good doctor. I was referred to him from a friend. I called the office. The first time the woman answered she just said "HELLO" so I was a little taken back and said I was calling to make a consultation appointment. She just transferred my call to another doctors voicemail. I figured mistakes happen so I called back. Someone picked up but said nothing and then finally hung up. The third time I called, a woman answered. I explained that I wanted to make a consultation appointment. "Was this, in fact, Dr. Silverman's office"? She said "Yea". I tried explaining that it was my third call and I just wanted to set up a consultation. SILENCE. I said "hello" then she said "yea". That's when I hung up after telling her, there is NO WAY that I would make an appointment with office staff like this. The office staff can make or break a good practice. Unfortunately, this office staff just cost Dr. Silverman my business and any future business I would of referred to him. read more

Clerks work there are extremely rude! Except for a couple of them. I was there back in October, doctor gave me an eye drop prescription, sent over to the pharmacy electronically. When I went to pick up the eye drop, found out that the doctor had to call for pre-authorization. I went home and called the doctor's office, the first clerk answered the phone was very nice and said she would inform the doctor. Next evening I tried again to pick up the eye drop, still no doctor's pre-authorization. Called the doctor's office again, another woman answered the phone and told me they would get to it WHEN they could, and they were very busy. I was like, ok.... That was on a Thursday. Friday I tried again, still no luck. Then Monday came the big storm, the entire state was on pause. Today, THREE WEEKS LATER after my doctor's appointment, called the pharmacist, STILL no doctor's authorization. Called the doctor's office again, first the woman answered the said,"it;s not possible, and will get back to me." When she finally got back to me, start telling me that they did it electronically and if the pharmacy needed the form filled out, they need to fax to her the form. I told her the pharmacist did fax it to them. She said," oh I don't know, we were closed for 10 days because of the storm." I said I was there ONE WEEK BEFORE THE STROM. Then she said," i don't know, maybe the storm blew it away or something, I am really busy now, and I can't spend any more time on the phone with you..." Are you serious????
