This place has terrible practices and sketchy policies. My wife went in and they charged proud insurance for a contact fitting. They then requested another appointment so they could make sure they fit. The problem is the wanted to charge another $170 for that visit. That wouldn't have been covered through insurance. They said they sometimes need 3 fitting appointments for contacts which I never had to do before let alone be charged a fitting fee each time. They then kept trying to pressure me into buying glasses which I didn't want to use my insurance for since I get glasses or contacts. I told them I wanted contacts only and they kept showing me glasses saying I really should have glasses too. Ultimately, I got screwed because I used my yearly visit to get a contact fitting which they won't finalize the prescription without multiple visits which are charged the fitting fee. I have to go somewhere else to get contacts and will have to pay out of pocket for the fitting since this place likes to make people pay multiple visits for a fitting fee. read more

Vision Eye-Q has a great location, a clean lobby, and a nice children's area. Doctor Holtz was knowledgeable and provided excellent care. However, be prepared for long wait times. Even a simple prescription pickup appointment for my son took nearly an hour, and regular visits can easily last 3-4 hours or more. The office should consider creating a faster process for patients who are only picking up prescriptions and don't need fittings or adjustments. A dedicated pickup/check-in option would make a big difference. Great care, but the overall experience would be much better with improved efficiency. read more

Arrived at 12:50 for a 1:10 appointment, myself and another person were not happy with the whole kiosk check in process. Was taken back within 10 minutes for eye exam and back of the house staff were excellent! Professional and friendly. Dr. Adam's was professional but no bedside mannerisms and kept interrupting me! I was led back to the main waiting room to wait to see someone for my contacts. I waited about 45 minutes, even after asking how much longer. There were only two other people waiting. At one point there were three to four staff at the counter chit chatting! Another customer was complaining about the wait time as well! Total time there was almost two hours! This is beyond acceptable! I will not be returning! I have always gone to a private practitioner and have never been in her office for two hours. I will be contacting my insurance company and broker about this company! read more

I had a very disappointing experience at Eye-Q in Clovis. I waited over an hour just to spend barely 10 minutes with the physician. The process felt chaotic and impersonal, I was shuffled through multiple waiting rooms and saw four different staff members for simple exams before even meeting the doctor. The staff seemed frazzled, didn't seem to know which patients were next, and overall I felt less like a patient and more like cattle being herded through their system. Because of this, I never went back for my lens fitting appointment. Instead, I went to Costco Optical and had a completely different experience: I was seen right on time, spent about 40 minutes one-on-one with the physician, and felt cared for the entire visit. Unfortunately, Eye-Q was one of the worst medical experiences I've had, and I would not recommend them. read more

Dr. Hinton did cataract removal and lense placement in both eyes. He is caring and an excellent surgeon. I can see better, now than I have in years-- without glasses or contacts! The front desk, assistants, and nurses, were all incredibly kind and professional. read more

1. Why have an appointment if you're not going to be seen on time. 2. There were about 6 poeple who check in after me and were seen first. 3. Got called to an exam nearly 30 minutes later to be told I dont need an exam and continue to wait to see the doctor. 4. Close to an hour go by and no movement. As a person of disability I'm upset at the lack of service and courtesy. read more

My initial visit to this office was a positive experience. Although I waited a bit to be seen, the doctor was very apologetic, professional, and knowledgeable, which I truly appreciated. However, my recent experience left me disappointed. About eight months after my appointment, I began experiencing headaches accompanied by tunnel and blurry vision. I already have an appointment scheduled with my PCP, but I wanted to be seen sooner to rule out any issues related to my eyes or prescription. When I called the office, I was told I could be seen--but only if I paid a mandatory up-front fee before the doctor would see me. I was specifically told this was an "Eye-Q" charge and not an insurance co-pay. That didn't sit right with me. As a patient with insurance, it was concerning to be required to pay an additional fee just to be evaluated for new symptoms. Ultimately, this policy made me feel uncomfortable, and my family and I have decided to seek care elsewhere for our eye needs. read more

First time at the Clovis location. Hiked to the building after parking way before I should have, then hiked around the building looking for the door. But that's cool, I'll log the activity for the day as exercise! Here for a follow-up appointment after being referred to Eye-Q in Fresno after my annual exam. There's something going on the doctor wants to keep an eye on. First time here and looking for Eye-Q? The building is past 121 and 129. The doors are to the back side of the building (east) where there is a parking lot, too. For Dr Adams, it's not the FIRST suite 101, keep walking, it's the SECOND suite 101. When I checked in, I found my doctor was going to be at this location ongoing. Glad I found him, Dr Adams is awesome! Very thorough, caring and professional. read more

We had a 1:50pm eye appointment. We finally left at 5:08pm. I had no idea that it would take 3 hours to finally be seen by the doctor. Dr. Holt seems to be a nice and very knowledgable doctor. However, the way Eye-Q runs the place, is seriously making me rethink if it's worth it. I had to miss an important meeting because of this. I have never had any doctor appointment take this long, ever. I asked the receptionist, if the wait was normal, and she stated "Yes." It would have been nice to know that ahead of time since they are already aware of this. I could have planned accordingly. read more

I called early in the morning about a problem with my vision. They worked me in, SAME DAY, with Dr Adams. She was thorough, timely, sensitive and knowledgeable. The news wasn't very good. But, she was reassuring, to the point that I was able to feel quite encouraged. Being very thorough I see her again in one month. I'm so grateful to her! Each visit, we are more impressed with EyeQ! read more

After spending thousands at EyeQ for eye care and having to wait more than 15 minutes on subsequent appointments I find that when I was 15 minutes late my appointment was cancelled and I was required to reschedule. I called to verify they take my insurance (I'm a federal employee) they said they did. I made an appointment, took that day off and went in early. They stated they do not take my insurance! Poor training or lazy. I'm not sure which. I wasted a day off for that! read more

Came here to pick up my glasses and had to wait for longer than it took to take my eye exam.

COVID-19 phase: Masks are worn by workers and required to go in. Definitely a big change from the last time I went in with Covid precautions taken. Big time! I walked in and the office is very clean and well taken care of. You are greeted by worker immediately and they take your temperature and tell you sign in via a computer that's set up. You check in there and you can choose to sit in the waiting room or pick to sit in your car. I chose to wait in the waiting room. It is safe and very clean! From there I got called back by kind worker Brent and pulled in the back to get starter tests on my eyes. Every place where eye tests were done were wiped down after use. Then I was sent into a waiting room with other masked patients and social distancing practiced. My name was called shortly later and I was sent to a room to where another very nice worker took some more eye tests asking what I can see when looking at letters that show up. Then eye drops were put in my eyes and I waited for for Dr. Hinton. Dr. Hinton is really great! This is my one year check up. He checked out my eyes. Said everything looks good, told me to keep taking care of the eyes and he would see me in another year. Great doctor! Clean and safe environment! Highly recommended! read more

Horrible wait times, per the supervisor "due to high patient volume, there is a 2-3 hour wait time to see the health care provider..." Nevermind that the doctor is pretty personable and my overall experience is fine. Nothing makes up for the fact that every time I have an appointment, I have a billing problem and have to call to fix it. This time I was charged for something I did not authorize. I also told every person I talked to in the office that I did not want the procedure. When I called billing, I got to hear the rationale as to why the procedure was performed on me anyway, as if there's any justification for a medical procedure being performed on someone that's not authorized. Seems to me that's both a legal and an ethical problem. read more

Called and was on hold for 30 minutes waiting to schedule an appointment. After 30 minutes they put me to voice mail. No call back. it's now been 5 days. Cannot recommend this practice at this point. Only come here if you have several hours and it's the only place your insurance allows. If you can go elsewhere I highly recommend. For a regular exam you will have to go through 3-4 different rooms and go through at least 9 people(which I did). Should not take 2 hours for a check up. Several staff enjoying coffee just hanging around talking. The rooms do not appear to be clean or wiped down after patients from what I visually saw. The Dr. was in and out in a few minutes, definitely not a "personal" experience. Your basically treated as a name just being checked off the schedule. Things were not explained good, as well as the patient is not listened too. The assistants seem annoyed when you ask questions especially when they are in the wrong so you have to physically show them. Among other things it was not a good experience. Beautiful building but staff, Dr, and the over all cleaning definitely needs to be improved. As a fellow individual in the health industry, there's definitely a lot of room for improvement at this location. Head elsewhere if you are able to. read more

DO NOT COME HERE!!!!!!! The wait time, scheduling and staff are horrible. My son is 3, his doctor from Kaiser Clovis referred him to this place for his first ever eye doctors apt. It took about 3 1/2 months to get an appointment from the day the doctor referred us. I come here today for my appointment, do the pre check in information the week before my appointment to beat the wait times. Well.. I walk into my apt at 9 am, staff member lets me know I have to use the self check in station and use a mask. I proceed to self check in AGAIN. Once we finish the self check in the machine prompts me to head over to the front desk. The front desk has my sons name with a different last name. They then fix it and have issues finding my sons apt???! They then apparently fix it and my sons apt shows up. I wait another 30 mins. By thus time it's 10 am they call my name out so my son and I head over to the nurse and they have it all wrong AGAIN, the appointment is for my son NOT for read more

Unfortunately I have a bad experience to write about. Not only me, but my wife also has had a similar experience. Been with Eye-Q for YEARS in Fresno, but my experience with the Clovis office has been much less than expected. Wanted contacts, went to Clovis office and had my eyes checked and a prescription made and filled at the Clovis office. Multiple attempts to find a comfortable solution were made until I gave up and went back to glasses. (Glasses are from the Fresno office) Wife went to the Clovis office this year for a new pair of glasses. She has went back 3 times to get new lenses so she can see correctly and not have the "Fun House" effect. Just received the 3rd new set of lenses within 3 months and she's beyond frustrated with the correction/strength of the lenses. (Frames are great!). Lenses are awful. Her colleague at the University has had the EXACT same experience with the Clovis office. Eye-Q finally reimbursed her for the full amount and she ended up at the Fresno office and loves her new frames and lenses. Between the 3 of us, all with similar expenses, I cannot recommend the Clovis office. There is a FUNDAMENTAL issue with the Clovis office. Don't know if it's the personnel of the measuring equipment, but the issue is clearly with the Clovis office. Eye-Q of Fresno is GREAT, but unfortunately the Clovis is not. Just my experience. read more

I had a great experience with the optometrist, but the purchasing of my glasses was not the best. The lenses were not made to fit in the glasses and broke the frame. They did replace the frames but such a hassle. read more

There is no excuse for waiting more than a few minutes. So far they are 35 minutes late and counting. 100% scheduling failure. This is not okay, especially for a morning appointment. Time is money and these folks love taking my money both for service and for lost wages while waiting. Complete failure. To me, it seems like they are scheduling too many people at a time. To me, it seems like they are being greedy at the expense of patients time. I'm seeing staff responses to other reviews of people complaining about the wait. They say sometimes it takes longer. Then you need to schedule less people at a time ! It's early morning and you are already way behind! There is ZERO excuse for this. Completely insulting to your clients read more

I went in in December 2021 for eye appointment, new prescription etc. The eye doctors are fine, and I have no problem with the exam or medical side of things, but I would not recommend the optical department. After ordering and paying for glasses (which are not cheap) I have now been waiting 4 weeks and still no glasses have arrived. They are not able to tell me anything other than, the glasses haven't arrived and then promise to call when they come in. I don't know why it should take over a month to get a pair of glasses when I could have gone down and had them done elsewhere within a few hours. Get your prescription here, but order your glasses elsewhere. Update: I finally got my glasses, but they did not contact me when they arrived. I had to call and follow up to learn that they were there. read more

I've heard good things about Dr. Holt. I never got the pleasure of meeting him despite being there with my son for two and a half hours before giving up and leaving. It's inconsiderate to keep ANY patient waiting that long, let alone a 2 year old. After 2 hours I'd used up the spare diapers in my purse, the snacks I'd brought along, and he was bored with the toys I had to distract him. His eyes had been dialated for an hour and a half, and he kept tripping, falling, and rubbing his eyes. He was quietly crying in and asking to go home. This can only be explained by scheduling too many patients. My son's appointment was at 9:00 and I left at 11:30 without having seen the doctor. The DMV isn't even this bad. Scheduling more patients than you can see in a timely manner is unethical, but it's great for making money. Staff was nice and apologetic about the wait. Sounded like they had practice apologizing. read more

This review is regarding the Optical Department only. ------------------ My daughter has intermittent extropia, so it was no surprise to learn she needed glasses at seventeen months old. We were assigned to work with Lynn, and what an incredible blessing she has been!! My daughter was extremely overtired when we were sent straight from her appointment to the Optical Department. Lynn was able to entertain our daughter and worked patiently with us to size frames and get accurate measurements. She truly has a gift working with children! A treasure, for sure! Lynn also went above and beyond to ensure we had adequate insurance coverage. It was a huge concern of mine - needing new lenses every couple of months due to prescription changes or terrible scratches due to toddler life - and she had an answer ready for every question I could think up. As a nervous mom, her experience is invaluable to this company!! My daughter took to her even faster at the appointment to pick up her glasses. When we picked up the glasses, Lynn helped with tips and tricks to help my daughter adjust and even got her amped up to see herself in the mirror with her glasses on. Precious memories, and truly an employee going above and beyond. read more

First off, I have no issue with Dr. Holt. He's been my kids' Optometrist for a few years now and he's been great with them. It's the wait times!! Every time I come in for an appointment, I have to clear out my day just in case. I show up 30min early every time and still wait 60-90min AFTER my scheduled appointment. They should definitely have a cutoff for those that are late, it's cuts into other appointments! I urge EYE - Q Clovis to start being respectful to other's time. I too have a job, a schedule and other responsibilities. There's no reason to wait 2-3 hours for a check up. Please reevaluate and correct your procedures. read more

Hemorrhoids are more pleasant than the people that work at EYE-Q in Clovis. I don't necessarily expect you to be pleasant, but it shouldn't feel like my very presence in the store is putting you out. In addition to the rude employees, they messed up on my mother's glasses and my wife's glasses. Mine turned fine, but they were just +1.50 readers. Additionally, it feels like an assembly line. You are not a "person", but just an object to keep rolling along. Obviously, I will not be going back. read more

I doubt this place reads the reviews or even cares for them, but the disrespect they have for a persons time is asinine. You WILL wait at minimum an hour after checking into your appointment time to be seen regardless what other obligations you have in life or for the day. The care received is typical and what I would expect by any eye doctor, so no reason to wait hours for mediocracy. Shop around if you have that luxury. read more
