I have seen Dr. Olionayu 3-4 times this past year. I have found her very knowledgeable,…read moreapproachable, and concerned about what is best for me. She took the time to explain what was going on with my eye. I was at a walk-in and need to be seen by an Ophthalmologist ASAP. It was a Friday afternoon, about 3 PM. The office was great, she saw me immediately and began tx. Does not get much better than that. The office is very busy at all times, and there is a process if you need a regular exam, but that's the way of busy practices. Anyone who sees Dr O will be getting excellent care.

Hello all, looks like I am looking for a new eye doctor…read more I had my annual appointment with Middlesex Eye Physicians on Saybrook Rd this morning. I have been going to them every year since I returned to CT after 20+ years in the Air Force and never had an issue. Until today. Now they primary purpose to to collect money from you no matter what, not provide quality optometry services to the Middletown area. Apparently they need to keep your credit card on file now with them. In fact, they won't even see you anymore if you do not consent to that. As I was told by the desk supervisor, this is company policy and there are no exceptions. There was a manager in a higher position there, but they refused to come out and talk to me. So they cancelled my appointment. Many may think that isn't an issue, but I do. They have no need to my card when I see them once a year and have always paid all invoices on time. This is how your information gets stolen. My family has been going to this outfit for literally generations. No more. I will not be blackmailed by them just to be seen by their docs. I won't be using them anymore. I dont promote boycotts but am asking folks to be aware of your personal information and do what you can do to protect it. Don't give it out if you don't need to. I am recommending family and friends to reevaluate your relationship with Middlesex Eye Physicians and decide if you want to be abused by this extreme company policy. I have enjoyed seeing Dr Yap, but your company won't allow that anymore. So, any recommendations for an optometrist would be appreciated. I thank you all in advance and will return to my lurking.

Interesting that all the reviews are 5 star except for one written by someone who has only written…read more1 review (I've commented previously about how much weight to give to anyone who has only written a handful of reviews). I was frankly skeptical of going to a chain optical store. I had always gone to private (read: expensive) opticians, but - especially after looking at how much lower online prices were - I couldn't stomach forking over that much money again. Then there was the reinforcing influence of my wife, who had been to the Old Saybrook Lenscrafters store and had a great experience. Like the other 5 star reviewers, I had an exceptional experience at this store. I'm in my 60's and have been wearing glasses since I was 5 or so and I've had lots of experience with opticians. I currently wear progressive lenses and, because I'm so nearsighted, have a special pair of glasses just to wear at my desk. Most of my interaction was with Alicia, but other professionals at the store also helped me during my two visits (one to drop off my glasses and Rx's and the second to pick them up). Everyone was friendly and helpful and - most important to me - thorough and professional. In the past, I've had opticians who provided me with lenses that hit my Rx right on, but with progressive lenses it's also important to get your eyes properly centered (horizontally and vertically). Otherwise, like me with my last few pairs of glasses, you're tilting your head up or down to get something in focus that you should be able to look directly at. Alicia took her time and had some technology that I hadn't seen before to really nail down where my eyes should be centered in the lenses. Bottom line: My lenses were still more expensive than I had hoped, but I can see perfectly for the first time in years and I had an enjoyable experience. Oh, and my new lenses came in in less than half the time that I was told to expect. Thank you, Lenscrafters. I'll be back!

I've been standing at the front desk for over 9 minutes and several staff have walked by and one is…read morein front of me now on the register. Not ONE person has even acknowledged me...I saw bad reviews before I came but really had no other choice. Never again.
