I pulled into Exxon yesterday to grab some M&Ms for the cookies I was going to make. It was around 4pm on a Thursday afternoon and ALL of the spaces in front were taken. WTF? Is there a party here and I wasn't invited or something? I had to park on the side next to a ghetto car with its hood up, and two hoodlums eying me as I stepped out. I prayed that my car would still be there when I returned and with windows still in tact. It's not a bad neighborhood so I felt the chances were on my side...at least that's what I told myself. Anyway, the place is pretty clean inside. I grabbed my two packages of M&Ms then remembered Megan M & Lisa P's conversation the other day about cheap tea at gas stations. I grabbed a huge 44oz cup (99 cents!) and turned around looking for the tea. They have a huge fountain drink dispenser and a million coffee options, but no fresh brewed tea. Disappointed, I returned my cup and went to check out. At check-out, the dude picked up my M&Ms, then said "Hold on." He scurried off to a bin beside the counter and started picking through packs of random candy. I noticed a "50% off" sign on it, and when he showed me the pack of M&Ms he picked from the dispenser I knew why they were half off. It looked like someone had saved them from 1998 and then ran over it with their car. Um, no thanks. I'll just pay the extra 79 cents for a new package. Wondering if my car was still outside, un-vandalized? Yup. And the hoodlums were gone too. read more

I hate going to this gas station but due to my amazing ability to wait until I have single digits of miles left to the tank and my gas light on I find my self here on occassion. I was trying so, so hard to avoid it but it didn't pan out. You know, my rating may be better if I were a man and less scared to go here but I am ALWAYS approached by someone (this particular visit the same man THREE TIMES), if not multiple people each and every trip. I am paying $3.30 for a gallon of gas...NO, I DONT HAVE MONEY FOR YOU TOO. I don't need my windshield washed, I don't have change, I don't want to buy you anything...frankly, I don't want strange men approaching me at the gas station. In the end, if you need gas they do have it but I prefer safer locations with less peddling. read more

Avoid if at all possible. The prices are high.Yes, I understand they are on the highway and therefore prices are always higher, but they still seem high even for that fact. But, the biggest reason I advise avoiding this location is the fact that I am always approached by panhandlers. The management does nothing to discourage vagrancy and people accosting you for money. I was there last night and I did not feel safe. If you are desperate for gas, stop and get just enough to get you to another station that doesn't charge as much and cares more about your safety. read more

If you enjoy being accosted by homeless people while trapped there waiting for your gas to pump and wishing that the laws of physics would change to allow your tank to fill at the speed of light, this place is for you. I guess nothing has changed after reading the other reviews, I've lived by this place for a year and get gas here often, ALWAYS harassed for money, but today the resident panhandler (seriously is always there, must know the owner) heard my pump turn off- ran up and yanked the pump out of my car and poured gas all down the side and on my wheel. They don't have windshield cleaners or rags to wipe up spills. I don't care how convenient it is, I'll pay more to go somewhere else. read more

I can't believe such a rough gas station is so close to Uptown. This isn't really a gas station, it's more like a homeless shelter outside and they are not shy about approaching you. Even if you did get past the bums, the inside of the station is very dirty and the bathroom is an absolute Nightmare on Elm Street. Avoid at all costs read more

I payed $10 for a car wash that left half my car dirty and my tires dirty too worst car wash and waste of money.

Much improved since 7-11 took this place over and began running it. Car wash is brand new and actually works. It's not a touch free anymore but seems very clean. read more

avoid this location at all cost! you will be approached by beggars and people who start to quote the bible when you don't give them any money. you will be told you are going to hell and that you're selfish/cold hearted for not helping others. go the extra mile to a different gas station. the only reason i went to this station was because it was on my way to work and i was almost out of gas. read more

So this Exxon station is the closest gas station to where I live and the shop is pretty clean inside, they have a decent selection of snacks. The price of gas is typically about average for the area and makes it worth not going out of your way to find gas. I have not used the car wash so this review is just about the food mart and gasoline pumps. If/when I use the carwash I will add an updated review. read more

This gas station has horrible service. There was only one register open and the line was 10 transactions long while another employee was just chilling behind the cashier writing in a binder. It took 15 minutes just to make my purchase .. Ridiculous ! Management needs to do something with that. read more

I work in the area and have been here a few times. I don't have any complaints about the 7-11 affiliated with this Exxon, however, it appears both are losing customers and money as a result of the constant pandering that goes on outside by the gas pumps and those loitering near the front doors of the 7-11. I am usually alone when I pull in to get gas. I have turned around and gone out of my way to other gas stations simply because I don't feel comfortable being approached by strangers for money or services. There are consistently 2 to 4 individuals who pander here and it appears that the employees allow it. It may be okay for some, but I feel intimidated. I shouldn't have to have my defenses up when I drive in, worried or nervous about being approached. I'll be going elsewhere from now on. I hope it makes a difference for the business if they are aware of what customers are facing at this location. read more
