We quickly found our new wheels had lug nuts that didn't fit our tool we had in our vehicle to replace the tire. We ended up getting stuck at the gas station for hours. The cashier was very friendly and helpful! She even offered to give us a ride after the store closed. Great little store out in the country. I'm very thankful for her hospitality! What brought us here? Lighting! The drive from San Antonio to Houston and vice versa is so boring and at night time pretty creepy. God forbid anybody ever getting stuck on the side of the road on the way to and fro. Anyways like two bugs attracted to bright lights we made it in here to check around the car and to use the facilities. The personnel here were neither friendly nor rude. The restrooms like most that you will find at any gas station smelled like somebody smacked your face with a baby's 4 hour held urinated diaper as well as that gastly smell like using one of those blue portable outhouses, but hey, it's a typical gas station restroom. Nothing really much to write about here except thank you Highway 71 Shell for the bright lighting that reminded us that there is civilization around here.

What would be worst than getting on the road at 4 am? Short answer, getting lost while driving…read morefrom Richmond, TX to Austin, TX. Technically, I was not lost because my GPS was working. However, my GPS was taking me down the back roads, where there were no street lights. It is times like these that you have visions of the Texas Chain Saw Massacre or being abducted or worse. What if I got a flat tire? What if my car stopped running? I tried to remain calm during this heavily dark morning. Fortunately, nothing bad happened. Alas, I saw existence of life...Snappy's Market. I went in primarily to see if they could give me some human directions v car-made ones. The gentlemen on duty was super helpful and indicated I was very close to getting onto the main thoroughfare. He even walked me outside and pointed me in the right direction. I felt compelled to buy something since he was so helpful, but did not have an appetite that early in the morning. I did use the restrooms, which were super clean. Then I was on my way...back on track!
