When I reached out to the owner, Ken, to discuss a resolution, he admitted in writing that glass spreads under heat, but only offered to refund my initial payment. The repair should never have been performed in direct sunlight without cooling the glass or providing a warning. When I simply asked for partial assistance with my insurance deductible to replace the ruined windshield, Ken became hostile, completely reneged on his written offer to refund the original service fee, said the crack is now an act of god and it was going to happen no matter what, and finally called me a "cheap ass" in writing. If Ray had warned me before starting the repair that the chip would convert into a crack no matter what, I would have explored other options including going to my insurance directly.
