I brought her into Guitar Center, hoping, praying, something could be done so I wouldnt be stuck playing my bandmates spare guitar like the night before in Austin. That dark moment playing out in front of a super skeptical audience that would make Dimebag Darrel sweat on the brow. Its Austin, you dont f-around with your guitar playing in Austin, or anywhere in Texas, really. This is a scientific fact. A universal truth. But alas, there I was, playing someone elses guitar as mine laid dead in the case. It was brutal, unforgiving, I barely survived. So yes, on that cold and wet morning, carrying the case/coffin/body bag of my beloved guitar into the Guitar Center. My head pointed downwards, staring at the rain drops hitting the pavement of the sidewalk that lead towards the doors of hope. And thats when I met Nate. The man, the myth, the legend. He immediately took one look at my guitar, picked it up, asked a couple questions, opened her up, and with the skill of a mad mad genius, surgically fixed her back to life within minutes to where she now sings and soars better than ever before. Each note a brilliant cry of joy and revival praising the Gods. My heart, my soul, my whole life was revitalized. A body-wide surge of "YEES!!' in every part of my consciousness. Nate had saved my baby, effortlessly. That day we continued through the storm into Dallas and there on the stage that rainy night, my guitar and I were reunited in a whirlwind of ecstatic ecstasy of being at one with another once again. How sweet the applause was, knowing Nate had saved my life from a performance that otherwise would have truly been "Awkward The Musical". Nate, you're a hero, genius, lifesaver, brilliant mastermind. Thank you. Guitar Center Gods, with Nate you have proved your decision of choosing only the worlds best to repair guitars, saving the lives of thousands of musicians like me. I made the 2.5 hour drive and when I started chatting with the guys, they recommended a different set that was a good alternative. It had more features and wasn't flimsy, like the set I originally wanted, plus it was on sale!When I went to check out, the sale had ended BUT staff still honored the sale as a courtesy to me. He ended up throwing in a free throne seat with the purchase of a 24 month warranty. I had the privilege of speaking with three different employees, plus the manager Mike, and the kindness and professionalism was superior! As a female who knows NOTHING about instruments, I was a little nervous going in and being sold overpriced items due to my lack of knowledge. However, I was SO wrong to be worried! Mike even found out I was scammed out of a $100 gift card and decided to honor that discount anyways. I would happily drive back to Waco from the Tyler area to purchase from these guys again! A few months ago, I took my son's sax in for some needed work. I received an estimate. To my surprise, when I picked the sax up the total bill was twice what was quoted. The owner said that the man who does all of the outside work took the liberty to repair everything that he saw wrong with the instrument. No one called me to authorize this work. I complained that this was not a good business practice but my complaints seemed to fall on deaf ears. I paid the bill. 2. A few weeks ago I needed quick repairs on the same instrument. Another student knocked the sax to the ground and we needed the repairs done promptly as he was in the middle of district and regional competition. Why did I take it back there after my first bad experience? Convenience. And hope. Everyone deserves another shot, right? This time, I specifically told the owner that I needed to authorize what was being done and the price point. The owner remembered me despite the fact that our first encounter was via phone--he was not in the store when I picked up the sax. We did not discuss the incident this time but he told me today that he told his repairman to only fix what was needed to make the instrument playable. The instrument was not playable when I got it back. I'm a divorced parent and picked up the sax myself. Not being a sax player, I had to trust that everything was ok. I took it immediately to my son's football game and gave it him at 9pm. At 7:15 the next morning he took it out of the case at the band hall and it was not playable. My son told me this, the band director told me this and I believe them. My ex-wife took the sax to another repair shop after school, not trusting Tune City and needed quick turn around to make regional competition. I won't name the competing music store, but the owner/repairman has 30 years of experience. He looked at the repairs listed on the two most recent repair tags from Tune City and told us that the repair work was horrible and echoed that the sax was not playable. Tune City refuses to refund my money. He said that all bets were off since I didn't return to his store for further repair. He said that the instrument was playable and that no one had ever complaned about horn repair before--I was the first. I told the owner that I was likely to post bad reviews online and he said he would sue me. He has lawyers on retainer. I would encourage anyone reading this review to consider another music store for your repairs.
