The sunrise tour was stunning -- truly the most beautiful time to be on the water as the birds and critters wake up. We're planning to book another tour to do the bioluminescence paddle at night as well. This sunrise tour is going on my list of best things to do in Jax -- it's truly NE FL at its best. Everything was super easy to book and Hayden had our gear ready and waiting to go, so we were able to get right on the water and see the full sunrise over the river.

Now, as for Ocean Extreme and its staff & owners I've personally known Cory and Emily for several years. In that time I've not seen a couple of nicer people that are in business. Emily goes out of her way in every class she teaches to help EVERYONE and keeps her fees so low I dont know how they can afford to drive there with their equipment. They always coordinate SUP Socials, SUP Moonlight Paddles, SUP Yoga, and SUP Surf Lessons( they sometimes ask folks for a few bucks if they have their own equipment other wise their fees are the cheapest around). They have a large Kite Selection, SUP collection and they now even carry the Bote Paddle-boards that all the guys want so they can fish off of them in comfort. Those boards are awesome.. They allow people to try boards which most places don't, they go out of their way all the time to help teach beginners and make sure during our socials everyone has their legal items as SUP's are considered Vessels.. Great people and great prices... Go see their inventory or let them take you on one of their SUP outings. You wont be disappointed .

The weather wasn't the greatest yesterday but they said we could go out anyways if we would like too. We went out and shortly after it started to rain really bad behind us. We missed the rain but someone from the office called us three times while we out to check on us. They were really concerned about our safety and wanted to know if we needed any help. The price for the pontoon was fair. We rented it for a half-day. The only reason why I'm knocking off one star is because of the pontoon was a little worn out. It worked fine but it could've been in a little bit better condition. Overall we had a great time and I will definitely use them again in the future.

Now the pros: Within 10 minutes you're out on the water. The employees are laid back and make the process simple. You can't beat the price for an hour or two of adventure. The cons: The staff don't give much instruction. They tell you when to be back and that's about it. The gentleman recommended which direction to head in but didn't say how far you could travel in that direction or anything to be aware of. He also didn't say what I know, which is the one direction has quite a strong current and the other doesn't. I saw a couple who clearly had no experience paddle boarding struggle to get out onto the water. Though it's a public creek it would be nice if the company swept the route daily to pick up trash. I kayaked by several boards with nails sticking up and lots of plastic bottles.

I was personally a bit nervous since I hadn't paddle boarded much before, but every step of the way we felt supported and truly cared for. Hearing about the family's passion for protecting the ecosystem and the manatees, along with all the helpful tips they shared to optimize our experience, was absolutely incredible. When we got to the dock, we were guided so kindly - Mike even held our shoes in his truck for us! When he noticed me struggling a bit, he took the time to give me multiple tips on how to better move in the water and maneuver the board, which made such a difference. We saw so many manatees, including mama and baby pairs, which was unforgettable. When we returned to the dock and shared how excited we were, Mike went above and beyond once again by recommending another nearby location we could walk to where we ended up seeing even more manatees up close and personal.
