Good introductory rate, however, exorbitant increases multiple times per year. Local management does not care about long term clients. Even corporate Customer Service does not return calls or concerns about pricing. Attitude is move to another facility to get a lower rate. read more

Once they get you in a unit the rate drastically changes month to month. My rate increased 51%, from $84 to $129 in 4 month period. Meanwhile the same exact size unit is still being advertised online for $84, so the bs excuse the owner tried giving me of adjusting the rate to current market prices is just a false claim. It's shady to lure consumers in with a low price that is still being advertised and then jack the rate up, it's pure greed. Last time I rented from ExtraSpace, never had this issue with any other storage company. There are better options than Extra Space Storage. read more

I'm having the same crappy experience as another reviewer. Got settled into a unit with a reasonable price and four months later they increased my rate $100 more per month. We tried to contest it and they said we had a promo rate that expired, though that wasn't outlined anywhere. Really disappointing because customer service seemed very friendly and genuine. I don't appreciate the lack of transparency when it comes to pricing. It's something to keep in mind before filling up a unit only to feel stuck with a much higher price so soon. Feels like they assume that you won't want to move everything out and so you'll just accept the price change. Wouldn't recommend. read more

You can do everything online and move in at your convenience. The facility is nearly brand-new -- immaculate and fresh-smelling (important when you're stashing important stuff!). All of that would've been good enough, but the icing on the cake was the manager, Kimberly. She reached out by phone after I completed the reservation online to see if I had any questions and personally walked me to my storage space on a busy Saturday morning. I researched a lot of self storage places in the areas surrounding the Mario M Cuomo (fka Tappan Zee) Bridge. Extra Space in Northvale, NJ had the best rates by far -- and when I went to visit I was very impressed with how friendly and helpful Carolyn was and how clean and well-lit the whole property was. Carolyn worked with me to optimize for my move-in date and on that date she spent time going through each section of the lease with me, explaining what each section was. The gate access codes are personalized so they know exactly who is coming in when (which is great just in case anything ever happens) and it's apparent that overall they take great care of this place. read more
