I have an actual recording of her raising her voice and yelling at me for simply asking a question -- not arguing, not complaining, just asking a question. And it didn't stop there. My husband called the facility separately with a simple question of his own, and she yelled at him too. A customer calling to ask a question should never be met with that kind of response -- ever. This is not someone who should be managing a facility or interacting with customers. Her behavior is hostile, inappropriate, and frankly unacceptable. So I did what any reasonable person would do -- I contacted corporate and asked to speak with the district manager. I started calling in early December, once or twice a week, sometimes more. Customer service told me the district manager would return my call within 48 hours. It took him nearly three months. Eric finally called me back at the end of February, and after all that waiting, I was met with nothing but attitude and dismissiveness. Rather than listening or showing any empathy, he essentially told me to find somewhere else to store my belongings because of some late payments. What Eric apparently didn't stop to consider is that I have been dealing with serious health issues and have been in and out of the hospital -- not that a paying customer should ever have to justify that to be treated with basic respect. The lack of professionalism and compassion from someone in a district manager position was truly shocking. Pros: -Tish (Newbury Park location) was friendly and available. -Access was easy. -Lighting was sufficient although I'd like a little more. -Cameras help you to feel safe. Cons: -Rates went up significantly and quickly! -Parking is VERY limited! -Available carts can be hard to find on a weekend. -Gets pretty warm in there ALL summer! Especially 2nd floor. Could use more roof insulation and ventilation. -Could really use a bathroom!!!! -Did I mention that rates went up quickly and parking is LIMITED?! read more

This storage facility has poor security. Some of my things were stolen. Essentially, since my unit wasn't in view of a camera there wasn't any concrete proof. All I pretty much got was a not our problem approach. No apology or solution given. On top of it, they had the nerve to increase my rent by $100 at the same time. I immediately moved out and will not recommend Extra Space Storage to anyone. read more

Let's just say I own a moving company. I deal with Storage Companies all the time. I know the Pros and Cons of each. Extra Space Self Storage is by far the best out there. I use them personally. Managers are great at each location, they are onsite, call trouble shoot if needed and go the extra mile when I don't remember gate code, lost keys etc. Tish, at the Newbury Park location is exceptional. I use this location for my personal stuff and I live as far as Santa Monica just to go there! Extra Space is second to none. The reason I write is to save you from the Public Storage and Grungy Ma and Pa places with aweful security,etc. read more

I've used a few storage facilities in the past so I speak from experience when I say this Extra Space Storage facility in Newbury Park is definitely worth the price you'll pay. Their prices are fairly low, around what you'd pay for a budget mom and pop storage where everything is falling apart, floors are uneven, they have one cart for the whole facility, and the tin can where you keep your stuff is usually around 100 degrees in the summer, but the price is the only thing they have in common with those guys. This place has plenty of carts, wide double doors to easily move large objects through, climate controlled rooms, smooth concrete floors, large elevators and by far the best part...something no other facility has or even comes close to...the one and only Tish. This lady is freakin awesome. Super friendly, willing to go out of her way to help you out, she even stayed after hours to help me check in when I was running late for our appointment. If for no other reason Tish is why you should store your crap here versus anywhere else. read more

Zero Stars! Run, run to Hollywood Storage. Do Not Trust This Place!! I made the biggest mistake trying to save some money going with the cheaper storage option, I was only needing the space for 6months or less. REGRETS!!! Within the three months I stored my belongings in this facility my storage unit was broken into and I had $1000's in items stolen. When I confronted the manager Tish, she just watched the cameras on the entrance gate to see if she would see someone walking out with items. She could not see when our door was lifted because the censors were broken, wish we knew that and had been put in a working unit. Then I spoke with a few workers and they informed me multiple units had been hit over the last month, and management and corporate refused to put cameras inside the facility. The cops informed us there was a crime ring stealing from this storage unit specifically and none of the unit holders were informed. This was 2 years ago, I am still dealing with the cops and insurance. I never got my stuff back, nor did the facility do anything for the many people whose items were stolen. Just don't go here unless you want to pay to never see your items again. read more

Place is very very hot. Manager is a nightmare as she gets mad if you need to use the bathroom . The place has no trash cans to throw away paper. I would avoid this place as they raise the rent every 2 months and force you to buy insurance. They also tried to Bill an extra month on my move out. read more

Only use for short term storage. They jack the prices up so high and so often, until you have no choice but to move out or get a new unit. Love the facility! Prices start out good, but get ready for a quick $20 increase, and they continue to steadily increase the rate. read more

My experience here was great. The storage manager was friendly and helpful. I have to say it was such an easy process. Out of all the storage places i have rented from, this one was the best. Very happy with the service. Rates are the lowest i found in Ventura County. It is right off the freeway, so its very convenient. While this place is clean, their business practices are questionable. I signed a lease for their smallest available unit at a cost of 50$/month. It's been just over a year and my rate has increased twice to 72$/month. Does the rate just increase for no reason? Is there a limit to the increases? Nobody seems to know and/or care. Basically this place is banking on the fact that you aren't going to move your stuff around every few months so they just increase you're rent little by little. They also insist that "every storage place does it" so it's okay to jack up rates for no reason. Let me ask you something Extra Space Storage, if all the other storage spaces were going to jump off a bridge--would you do it too? My advice- if you like to get ripped off store your stuff here, if not, go elsewhere. Sidenote: this facility hasn't been updated whatsoever in the 1 year I have been there, ExtraSpace storage tries to save face on this website by claiming that prices are due to facility upgrades and "security" however they force you to pay for the bogus monthly insurance (even if you have 1000$ worth of stuff) as well. Bottom line is they nickel and dime you so, buyer beware. read more

I recommend going elsewhere. You'd think you would only have to deal with them once when you move in, but, alas, no. My sister and I had to get storage units at the same time. She has had no further contact with hers and, after many phone calls, e-mail and faxes, I am sick of dealing with mine. I have more important things to do than corresponding with the company that stores my stuff. And I haven't even gotten to the water damage to my property yet! Accidents happen and one maybe two mishaps can be overlooked, but constant communication because of lost paperwork is just not necessary or desirable. And, the units have no lights. read more

I have just closed my unit, not because of any problems, but because I moved to a different city. This has to be THE cleanest ever storage facility I've used, bar none. Manager, Patty, & staff are wonderful and easy to work with. It's been a pleasure and I hate to move. The drive-up keypad is one feature I enjoyed, as well as the always-available flatbed carts, and timers on outside doorways which stay open for the length of time you set. My unit (211) did not have a light but I didn't need one because the hallways are brightly lit. Definitely recommending this storage location, and many thanks to Patty and Danny for their part in maintaining an outstanding facility. read more

I have been with Extra Space for years. I have nothing but high praise for Patty & Danny!! The facility is extremely clean, the staff are friendly and efficient. We came from another storage company and they were a nightmare so it was such a relief to come here. I am at my unit at least once a week and I really appreciate the drive up unit that I have. Time is important to me and I wasted a lot of time with checking on storage units in the area. Extra Space was the exception. Patty was very friendly and did not waste my time and she honored the reservation I made online (not like others who took reservations, but gave excuses as to why they could not honor what was on their website).
