Do not go here!!! Their reviews are completely rigged. When I was signing-up to move my belongings in, they asked me to give them 5-stars before even using the facility. They are in no way 5-star. I have had no lighting where my unit is located, I've been locked because the gates would not open. Now without any notice they doubled the cost of my storage. They said it is in my lease that they can raise the rent when they want to. I'm not sure how this is even legal. The staff there is normally at least very nice but today I called and the guy who answered was extremely rude and arrogant. I am getting my belongings out of there asap but wanted to warn others to really read your lease well if you are going here and know what you are getting into. Really dishonest company. read more

I rented a storage unit in April and in June they let me know they were going to increase the storage price by 25%. I haven't even been there 3 full months and they already started raising the rental rate. I called and they said they re-evalute every 3 months. My experience renting a storage unit with Extra Space was very positive. The facility is brand new, clean, privately located and very accessible. I cannot say enough about the importance the location manager, Ralph. Ralph is personable, informative, professional and knowledgeable, but he is one cool guy. He makes sure he covers all details of the leasing agreement and how to access the unit including the unique locks the company provide. Using Extra space storage 2520 for a drive up garage for a 2-3 month cleaning out closets project and in between place to organize. I by mistake inverted the first 2 numbers of my gate code. Franco the manager was standing outside got his attention and said my code wasn't working. He continues to insist I DIDN'T HAVE A UNIT THERE and I figured out my own mistake and the gate opened and I drove in. I drove to the path for my ynit on the left and a mini van with IL plates was driving down from the opposite direction on the left side. The path has enough room for 2 vehicles to pass and there was enough distance for me to stay on the left which was the side of my garage. This person instead of continuing to drive past me and continuing on decides to stop next to me and acted confrontational. I feared for my safety. I drove ahead and the person left. After dropping off some things I stopped in the office to tell Franco about it. I opened my conversation with being upset about the gate code (*even though he was dismissive to me already then). He could care less that I feared for my safety in the middle of the day and said he was not the police. He then said would you like to cancel your unit (telling me he doesn't want to deal with me as a customer) He did not have the decency to say I will look out for that vehicle. To add more insult on my way back to my car he opens the door to say this is why people treat you this way because of how you react. When he said "I am not the police" I walked out and quit the conversation because I was angry and he thinks he has to say a personal insult before I leave.. I do not want to cancel because this unit is conveniently in my neighborhood. I be would cancel if I did not have a gate code and had to deal with Franco again. Storage unit works for my needs for 2-3 months but Franco and his attitude is completely unacceptable. I want to just drop off stuff to use my storage unit. I don't need to argue about whether or not my gate code matches a storage unit, I don't want to be disrespected and insulted by the person in charge. I don't want to be told I can cancel when that is not the issue, he is encouraging a paying customer to leave a service available in the neighborhood. read more

Extra Space Storage at 2712 Ski Lane in Madison, WI came up in a search I did for a secure, climate controlled storage facility in April of this year so I went to check it out. Ralph, the manager was in the office when I arrived. We discussed my storage needs and he took me on a tour of the facility. I am impressed with the level of cleanliness and everything works all the time, unlike many storage facilities without onsite staff. Access to the building is with a keypad, using a code provided. It is not open 24/7, but that makes it more secure. Cameras are everywhere inside the well-lit building. I chose a smaller unit, about 3' by 8', but soon chose a 10' x 10' unit and proceeded to move everything from my 10' x 15' outdoor locker. A big job made easier by the loading area located three feet away from the sliding glass doors push carts and elevator, all within 15 feet of the loading area right next to the building. Ralph and Extra Space Storage will have me as a customer for a long time. read more

worst experience ever. employees don't know what they are doing charge you for extra months you didn't ask for. manager even worse. goes on about his cancer treatment not taking care of business. since he has no idea of what a customer might be dealing with his personal stuff should stay personal not making it an excuse for not doing his job. he never returned 4 messages left.
