Last weekend, there was an ice storm, and places were shut down for days. I couldn't remove my belongings from the facility. I moved them out today, the 6th, and they won't prorate the month. This seems a bit unfair. I have been with them for 5 years or more, enduring numerous price hikes. I was told that if I had called and informed them I was leaving, they would have prorated it. What's the difference? That was never said to me in the beginning. I appreciate the convenience of the place, but some of the staff in the past have been extremely rude. Not today, but I think the prorating policy is so wrong. It's the first week of the month, and things were closed most of the time due to the weather. It was just disappointing! read more

Easy process online, and the unit was ready for me with lock, keys, and access code in 15 minutes.

this review is for only the facility on City Base Landing in South San Antonio. When we rented this storage unit it was under a different management and it was great experience. under the new management, they no longer allowed the outside door to auto open during the day., which caused great inconvenience of typing your code in every time you entered while loading or unloading. in Feb we drove 300 miles to remove some of our things out of San Antonio. We had chosen a unit that was close to the elevator at the front of the building due to our age. But the elevator was not working and we had to move furniture a long distance from one end of the building to the other end to use the only other elevator. we were told we would get a credit for the inconvenience, but that never happened. We came back a month later to empty the unit and the elevator was still not working. We were told we would get a prorated credit for the half month we didn't use. But afterwards, they told us you have to notify them a month in advance to receive a prorated fee for the last month. We were told there was no overall corporation for complaints. you have to deal with the facility itself. but when we sent them a text, they referred it to our other facility in North TX. read more

I had a Unit here for 5 months before my rent went up over $100 a month. When I asked the front office why this happened, they couldn't give me a clear answer. I was very disappointed by this and moved out. Very frustrating when Extra Space built a brand new facility across the street from this one and another one in Allen. Needless to say, I will not be a Extra Space Storage customer again because who knows what they will hike up the price to and when. read more

4/20/17: I am just 3 months into my contract and I just received a postcard notice in the mail informing me that my monthly storage rate was going up by $10 effective immediately. This is unsavory business practice. I don't understand how they can do this just 3 months into my contract. I am very unhappy about this. UPDATE 02/28/18: Yet another $10 increase in my rate. THIS IS THE SECOND INCREASE IN ONE YEAR. In one year, my rate has gone from $72 to $92. This is a 28% in just one year. I feel like this is complete gouging of the customer. Moving belongings is a daunting project so they know most people will just pay the increase versus trying to find another storage facility to relocate all their items. To me, this is bad business practice. At least tell the customer at the time of contract signing that you will be reviewing contracts and increasing rates AT WILL. UPDATE 01/23/19: I HATE this place. Yet another increase in my rate. This is the 3RD increase in 2 years. This time I did NOT receive the postcard notification. I was informed of the increase by my bank when they tried to take a higher amount out of my checking account. So from Jan 2017 to Jan 2019, my rent rate has gone up from $72 to $104. Same storage room, no increase in size, no special attention given to my storage, just the usual PRICE GOUGING from the GREEDY OWNER. I'm told the owner hates bad reviews on Google yet he doesn't stop raising prices. This is ridiculous. He is greedy and doesn't care about the customer. I've asked to speak to him several times but I'm always told he is on vacation or out of town. He is a GREEDY COWARD. I would like to move my belongings but that is a huge project so I feel trapped. Please don't rent space here if you don't want to be ripped off whenever the owner sees fit to pad his pockets more to go on vacation. read more

I sold my house in Sealy, Texas in June of 2002. Since then, I have been a patron of more than one Storage Unit Company. I moved my extra furniture, out of season clothes, out of size clothes and stuff that "needs to be eBay'd" into a climate controlled unit here in October 2007. My stuff stayed nice and clean the 10 months it was there. The staff has been extra helpful during the time I kept my stuff on their property, including helping me cut off my lock and buy a new one when my keys were stolen in January. I moved my stuff out on Saturday afternoon about 5pm, and the pro-rated refund for my month's rent was credited to my bank account by Monday morning. Talk about service. read more

I rented a small storage unit from this company because it was close to home and by far the most affordable I could find. What I didn't expect was the marvelous customer service I received. Leon was particularly helpful. I was greeted by name when visiting the office and taken directly to my unit when needed. The facilities operate from 6 am to 10 pm, providing very flexible and convenient access. Rates are paid monthly, so there are no long term contracts to lock in the potential renter. There is a renters' insurance suggested, but my rate would even still have been under $50 per month with that included had I taken advantage of that offer. The units are clean and the premises are located in a safe and open location that is well lit and secure. As of this writing, I cannot imagine renting from anyone else. read more

Chuck saved the day. I had to move out of my apartment over one weekend due to mold - a move I hadn't been planning on. I ended up downsizing and having to find a place to store furniture I had been holding for my mother. By the time I got a truck rented and loaded I wasn't going to get to the Extra Space until right at close. Chuck stayed to walk us through everything, take us on a tour, and never made us feel like we were inconveniencing him. It is a little more than I wanted to spend monthly, but the customer service is above and beyond, the space is clean and well kept, as are the grounds, and it feels secure. I'm very happy! read more

One of the best places we found in Allen. The climate control is a great amenity and the amount of cameras makes us feel incredibly safe about our stuff. On top of that the management is amazing! He was very helpful and made us feel like our needs mattered. read more
