Her braiding style is very tight and tailored. I got crochet braids with free tress water wave hair. She told me next time to shop for the hair with her. On service day, I arrived early, but to my great surprise she was already there! This is so rare for early morning hair appointments. More times than not, I am waiting for the stylist to show, and then she shows up late. One qualm, is that another client came in after me (getting services from another stylist) and since the other stylist was not there yet, she kept interrupting my stylist with a litany of questions. My stylist stopped working on my hair for about 10 minutes assisting this other client. Nonetheless, when the stylist did get started, she took very few; yet brief breaks to answer phone calls. I took two breaks to use the restroom and fyi, the restroom was spotless. What an added bonus! When all was done, I really like my hairstyle. Only negative is that the front edges were braided kind of tight, despite my request for them to not be braided tight or small. Most were not small, just 5 in the very front. The rest are spaced out. And the rest of my head was not braided super tight so not sure how/why just the front edges were. There was one that was unbearable on the front edge and she redid it for me. She (Chantal) was very pleasant to speak with, took most of the directions I gave her, checked in with me throughout the service and worked rather swiftly. The twists are a lot smaller than I envisioned, but when I compare it with the picture I showed her, it's comparable, so I accept fault on that. Also, I prefer kinky twists that are twisted from the roots, but she braided from the roots. Overall, I am satisfied with her work. P.S. Some braiders use gel or Vaseline when they braid you hair, she used hair grease (I think blue magic).

As you can clearly see, the work looks rushed and sloppy: uneven and inconsistent parting, frizz at the roots, braids lifting early, and a lack of overall neatness and polish. This is not what I expect from a professional service, especially at the price point. I did contact the braider to address my concerns. She acknowledged the issue and provided a partial refund, which I appreciated. However, the quality of the work itself was already done, and unfortunately, the damage couldn't be undone. It's frustrating to invest time and money--especially during the holidays--and be left feeling unhappy with the results. While I respect her response in offering a partial refund, I personally will not be returning. Posting this review so others can make an informed decision. The photos speak for themselves.

I by chance walked into this place while I was omw to go get my hair straightened at another salon. Luv of Hair was closer, cleaner and nicer looking than my original place so I figured I'd give it a try (plus I was super stressed for time). Anyway, I was greeted by Shameka who owns the salon. Told her I needed my hair flat ironed and not pressed with a hot comb (as some people are still doing can you believe that?!). She listened and used two high quality flat irons on my hair (a smaller one my edges). I'm mixed and my hair is natural, super curly frizzy, thick and can get pretty soft. I know my hair, what it can take, what products to use and how to apply them but I am no hair stylist. Shameka proved to me that I can tell her these things without her going into an eye roll thinking I'm telling her how to do her job. In my experiences, with situations like these, my hair is left over processed and damaged because the stylist used products or practices I know do this to my hair and had just told them not to use. Not with Shameka! She is a stylist and is versatile where she can listen to her customers' needs and apply them into her skill and hair practice. Believe it or not, this is hard to come by. I mean, no two naps are the same, what will work for one customer may not work for another. A real hair stylist knows this and seeks as much info, from the customer, as possible to make sure the experience, and hair, is set. Shameka is this chick. She is professional, nice, welcoming and clearly hard working. I have no doubt her place will do well with qualities like that. I paid $50 but I believe this is included with a wash, dry and trim (I came in with my hair already washed and skipped the trim), pretty good deal. There is free parking and the place is pretty nice and clean. There is even a little waiting/play area for kids. I definitely will be back and recommend.
