My project was complicated because my 1980s drywall shafts were the wrong size for modern solar blinds. Instead of just "making it work" or creating a huge mess with drywall dust, Zach proposed a brilliant custom solution: building a clean birch veneer box with custom trim. It looks stunning and kept my house completely dust-free. What impressed me most was Zach's integrity. During the install, a small piece of my old plastic molding snapped. Instead of ignoring it, Zach took full ownership and replaced the trim on both skylights with upgraded foam-backed wood molding at his own expense to ensure everything was airtight and uniform. It is not a simple fix but an upgrade, for free. See the attached before/after pictures and the broken plastic. Like most customers, I contacted a few contractors before selecting Winfield Builders. I would not wish this experience on anyone. When we were designing our bathroom the reps told us we couldn't get an itemized bill, so we could get something in our budget or pick more affordable parts. They also told us that they could give us a discount but only if we signed right then. Expect high pressure sales tactics. If you try and cancel your project after you sign, you're responsible for 75% of the cost NO MATTER WHAT. If that's not a predatory contract I don't know what is. The bath authority ended up subcontracting out our project and after months of trying to get our bathroom installed, the subcontractor arrived not knowing the scope of the work. Parts were missing, they broke our toilet, tried to double charge us for our deposit, and left a mess on our lawn. They replaced our glorious porcelain throne with a short kindergarten-sized toilet and tried to force us to sign the work complete doc. We had to call SO MANY times to ask them to fix their mistakes and it took another 3 months of being dodged and ghosted to get our toilet replaced and missing pieces of our original order installed. We had some tears in our siding from removing our deck. He was able to purchase replacement pieces. The original manufacturer could not provide individual pieces but Jorge found a similar one that is nearly identical. Jorge approaches issues creatively. Instead of just replacing the siding (which was at a very visible spot in our backyard), he decided to take siding from the side of the house that is covered and use that at the back of the back of the house. That way, the siding all matched in the back where people hang out. The new pieces (which were very close to the original pieces) were put up on the side behind bushes. His knowledge about siding is high-level -- he knows his stuff.

They were very accommodating when I called so I was pushed further back on the timeslot till after 3 PM so I could be home for the service. The technician Isaiah arrived and informed me what he was going to do. Afterwards he sent me a detailed report with photographs of my gutter system. Thankfully, everything looked good and I did not require any additional services after the cleaning and tuneup.

For the first time I realize I had been hearing a fair amount of outside noise (which I'd apparently gotten used to), because these windows/doors are soundproof; now I don't hear anything at all from outside! And even better, the windows are easy to open, and my sliding glass doors actually slide well in the track, and are not shaking and drafty when it's windy outside -- major improvements from my old, builder-grade, 20+ year-old windows/sliding door. Further, the service crew was excellent -- careful, kind, professional, efficient, and they cleaned up everything afterwards. Roger, the foreman, has been doing this work for almost 30 years, and Jose, who single-handedly carried in/out the windows/doors, has been doing this work for 10+ years. I didn't get the name of the quiet third service person who was mostly outside and on the ladders, also very efficient. fyi, they did mention that working on the 4th floor of our condos from ladders was a bit more challenging as the original builder-grade windows had been made to fit by being packed/taped in place from the outside, which necessitated them having to actually break some of the glass to be able to pull the old windows out. But they did it - and did it well. Finally, Shaun, the project manager who gave me my estimate and oversaw the project from estimate, HOA approval process, to completion, was great.
