In for medical care and stopped by this shop. Purchased a jacket and shoes. Was told by the lovely lady that if I didn't take the box, they would not be returnable. I took the box and this morning, the fit was much different. The jacket did not fit right when tried on with a normal, fall shirt. Went back to find another staff member (NOT a people person) and am told NO REFUNDS. There wasn't much in that store for my style or size and she refused to give me a dollar of my near $400. Store credit was it. I searched for an hour and ended up just getting things to total my return. This lady was awful. I am in town for medical reasons, I will not be returning so the 1 year credit was no good. There is nothing posted in the the store that states NO REFUNDS. NEVER again. My receipt had my card receipt stapled over the top of the policy so I never saw it. I would never have made the initial purchase. read more

Shop the clearance rack and this store is a hidden gem. Otherwise it's really pricey. Really cool, funky eclectic clothes and shoes give it 5 stars. What knocks it down to a 4 Star is the full price and a lot of dry-clean and delicate washing items. But worth the hassle of special care items for a cool accent piece. Staff was super helpful. If the prices were more reasonable and the clothing was more washable my whole wardrobe would come from here. read more

I absolutely LOVE this store! The girls that work here are fun and helpful. This shop is where I go after a rough day! Fun clothes and great sales! This is near Mayo Clinic! Get compliments all the time on my unique clothes! I love that I do not have to worry about "worn" clothing. I know with there generous return policy , I say generous because store credit will never expire. This is a place that tells you upfront how their policy works . What more can anyone want. I agree with previous comments regarding this establishment. I will never shop here again unless there was a big change. The staff is rude, snarky, the marchandises overpriced the return policy is terrible. In today's world the norm is to be able to return something for a refund especially if it's been unused or unopened. Not this establishment. Getting in store credits to people who don't live in the area mean nothing. That says a lot about their merchandise, they obviously don't feel it worthy enough to take it back. read more

This store now called ELL BOTIQUES STOLE OVER $300 FROM ME. I purchased 3 small leather purses and specifically asked and received permission to return them by a date beyond the usual return date. Upon my return of the purses within the allotted time, the clerk gave me a hand written receipt showing the purses were returned and also showing my purchase that day of a pair of shoes. The returned purses were to be credited against the shoe purchase. By mistake the clerk charged me again for the returned purses as well as for the new shoe purchase. A few months later when I realized what the clerk had done, I brought the handwritten receipt into the store, and a copy of my credit card bill. I explained the lack of credit for the purses and that they had been again charged to me a second time. The manager that day accused me of stealing the purses and shoes despite my showing the handwritten receipt from their store signed by their clerk and my charge card statement. The manager refused to give me my $300 plus, or a credit or the purses back. The returned three purses were all visible in the store that day. When I talked with the owner she lied and said she had no way of checking her inventory to see whether or when the purses were returned. So she too refused to refund my $300 plus, give me a credit or give me back the purses. The owner also said since I had not brought this to her attention earlier, even if I was telling her the truth, she would not give me back my money, a credit or the purses. Even a year later I noted the store still had two of the purses for sale which I had returned. The clerk told me they had only originally ordered one of each purse and these were from the original order not reordered by the store. That is these two purses were the ones I had returned which the owner said she had no way of tracing. LIES AND FRAUD were all this store was good for. Below are photos of one of the returned purses. There was an identical second purse but with different colors returned. The third purse returned was just a bit different style but from the same company. Snarky doesn't begin to describe the staff. I am a size 10, they had nothing to fit me...and as I walked out they uttered "we don't do plus size. What did she expect. " I confronted them indicating I am not plus size, and not deaf. They said they misspoke...and smiled. What they meant was they spoke too soon. Never said sorry. Also Very Very pricey. read more

Purchased a beautiful fox cape here last year, and love it! We then purchased a Mink fur coat 2 months ago, and ended up moving to Texas and obviously do not need a heavy fur coat here as it is hot year round. We contacted the store manager to ask if we could return or sell back at a lower price and we were told by the store manager that we should have called last week as she would have done it then. Literally a week difference. If you expect great customer service look for other places, because this is not the place to go. They're just looking for a sale and don't care about their customers at all. read more

I spent a great deal of time trying to locate this business as I saw a adorable pair of V Italia boots I wanted in a display window at the Kahler Hotel. Once I did find the store, they no longer had my size. However, the clerk called their sister stores to locate a pair for me and had them deliver to the store. She also was very nice. I am in a wheelchair and she got down on her knees to help me try the boots. Very nice gal! Yes, the store is pricey but the quality of items is high! Thank you for great service! read more

I don't even want to give this store a 1. I agree with the many reviews who mention this store at the Mayo Clinic and the manager as someone who takes advantage of the sick. "Shame on you." I too will be contacting the better business bureau for this stores shady business tactics. They don't inform the consumer of their policy which my bank says "is illegal." In fact a very popular store a couple years back went through a class action lawsuit because they didn't inform consumers of their "no return policy, exchange only." They had to pay up. Maybe if all of us who were ripped off by this store got together we too could hold them responsible. read more

I have shopped this store for many years when I am at Mayo. The clothes are different and the sales good. However, there is no return policy because they do not need one. Most of the Customers leave Mayo and most likely would not deal with a return. The owner and Manager are very rude and short. You really just help yourself. I can not say anything good. GG read more

I bought a stole and a blouse here while visiting at Mayo Clinic. My husband bought me a $200 stole for my birthday. The clerk then brought me a blouse that she said was "on sale" for $30, so I told her to add it to my bill. My husband paid the total bill with his credit card, not knowing what the price of the blouse was supposed to be. When we got the credit card statement, we were shocked to find that the clerk had sold him the blouse at $129. We called to clarify this "error" but were told that they did not give refunds, only store credit. Since we live 700 miles away, it is not feasible for us to use a store credit. I do not choose to shop at a store that will not correct a misunderstood transaction. Never again! read more

I had a great experience here, yes, it can be pricy, but not everything is. I looked at shoes, purses and clothing. I am a size 10, there were things in this store that fit me, and in looking for sizes I ran onto an extra large in a blouse. Looked to me like it was for all body types. I am another individual not fond of this business. I think it may be the owner or manager that is quite curt. I wanted to buy a Tumi backpack. I was told if there was one that they did not carry, it could be ordered. When I went back to the store to see if a different one could be ordered I was told she could order it but I would have to buy it. Really? Then when I called to see what their return policy was, thinking I would get the backpack I had been looking at for awhile, I was told I could return it but only after she checked it over would she make the decision. To me that pretty much told me that there was a chance something would be found wrong so I would be stuck with it. I am a grown woman and I just found that to be insulting. So, I purchased it through Nordstrom's and I love it. Even though I work downtown, with the attitude I have seen in the store, I will purchase everything I need elsewhere. read more

My husband and I are both patients at the Mayo Clinic and so we are up in Rochester at least twice a year. The highlight for me was previously shopping at Exquisite Leather and Luggage, but no more. In February, I purchased a top with a matching jacket. Our weather was finally in the 70's and so I cut the tags off in April and wore it to work. One of my good friends complimented me on it and told me to turn around so she could see the back. I was embarrassed when she asked, "Do you know the back is way off center? It had a definite pattern which was centered very nicely on the front, but not the back. I had not even paid any attention to the back of it when I purchased it. I immediately called them as we live 2 1/2 hours from there but I had an appointment coming up. When I pay a premium price like I did for this top and matching jacket, I expected it NOT to be a "second" with a major flaw, When I brought it in to the store, I was told the owner/manager - Lyn refused to do ANYTHING! Today is the last time I will ever shop in their store. I've previously been a long-time customer, but no more. I could understand their response if I wanted to return it because I didn't want it, but it has a major flaw! The least they should have done was to offer me a partial refund if nothing else. read more

I, too, am very disappointed with this company. My husband had passed away, and I was under an enormous amount of stress. I had been under the care of a doctor at Mayo Clinic years ago, and the stress I was under, caused a recurrence of my illness. I returned to Mayo for tests and treatment. I went there from Houston, Texas. Between tests, I visited this store, and saw a jacket I liked. I could not make up my mind about the jacket, and the manager kept telling me how wonderful it looked, etc. I finally said I would take it, and I charged it to my Master Card and asked that it be mailed to me, as I was too weak to carry it with me on the return trip to Houston. I came back to Texas, and when I opened the package which arrived six days after buying it, the leather had some defective pieces of leather, and did not appear to be the best of quality. The jacket was $414.00. I asked my nurse to send it back and to ask for a refund on my credit card. My nurse called to tell the manager she was returning the jacket. The Manager said she did not give refunds. On the receipt it said returns had to be made in 10 days, and my nurse told her we were shipping it back due to its defective condition (within the requirement of 10 days) . We shipped the package back, the store accepted it even though it had my name clearly on the front of the package. The manager could have refused it, but she did not. She accepted the return. Then the manager wrote a note saying she would only give a house credit which meant I had to buy something from her store. I wrote back and said I live 1200 miles away, and if she wanted to pay my airfare up there, I would be glad to come back and pick out something in her store, or she could issue a credit to my credit card. She then wrote back saying she did not give refunds and she would not give a credit to my account. She said she had the coat, and if I wanted it back I would have to pay her money to ship it back to me. She ALSO added more rules and requirements to her "no refunds" that if I did not pick the coat up by six months, it became her property to do what she wanted with it - either sell it again or keep it herself. She seemed to make up the new rules as she went on. She said her rules are posted on her walls, but I did not see them. I feel if anyone knew what her rules are - No refunds, returns within 10 days, if you send it back you have to PAY to get it back, and if you do not, SHE WILL KEEP IT FOR SIX MONTHS AT WHICH TIME IT BECOMES HER PERSONAL PROPERTY TO DO WHAT SHE WANTS WITH IT. She doesn't post that because no one would buy anything from her if she told them the truth about her rules. I wonder, since most of her sales are probably to people who visit Mayo and are out of town or out of state, I wonder how much merchandise she keeps each year when she pulls the same tricks on others. I agree with one posting that some of her goods are "seconds" as I feel the jacket was a "second" as some of the leather strips were already coming loose. I will never go in that shop again, and I will write the Better Business Bureau about her actions, as well as the state who licenses her business. It is a shame someone in her position would take advantage of someone who is attending Mayo for medical reasons, and I feel she is banking on their either not returning to Rochester or dying and she doesn't have to give a refund nor a credit, and keeps the property they have returned to her.
