Took my grand daughter to Port Townsend for her twelfth Birthday trip. Found Expressions, we were back 6 times in 3 days. Everything not only she wanted but things I have been looking everywhere for. Great quality, trending styles, warm, comfortable and beautiful colors. Congratulations to the proprietors this is the most beautiful and fun store I have found since Laguna Beach in the 70s! Tucked away in one of the many eclectic shops on the main street of Port Townsend, is Expressions. The store carries a wide selection of high society sun hats, especially in red and purple, which is great for anyone in or joining the Red Hat Society. Hats with satin and lace in lighter pastel colors would also work for themed parties like the Great Gatsby, polo or Derby events. Personally, I was lured into the shop by the extensive sock collection available for both men and women. Long, short, colorful, plain, toes, ruffles, whatever you are looking for, they have it. I felt like I was in a shop from my youth, back when Hippies wandered about. The socks alone are worth the visit. Every inch of space was covered in merchandise. The day I stopped in, the promotion was spend $100 and get a pair of ballet slippers in their own little carrying bag. It is a very fun store and I left with 10 pair of socks. Yes, I need a support group, but cute socks are just sooooooooooooooo hard to find. They had socks for children and men, also. Okay, this shop has the best selection of socks that I've ever seen outside of a sock specific shop. I spent way more money than I should have because I just couldn't get over how cute the various designs are. The staff is also really nice. On the downside, the shop is a little too cluttered. I love shops with tons of different things in it, but this is just a little too much. The clothes, for the most part, look like they're all left overs from the 90s and/or Walmart. read more

I have been shopping at Expressions for about 11 years now. The first time I went in there I was in love. They carry a lot of lacey, girly clothes which I love. Denise (the owner) has been pleasant and very helpful. I am from out of state but when I travel to Port Townsend (which is usually a couple times a year) I always stop in Expressions. I don't think I have every gone in there and not found something I liked. Usually I find lots of things I like. The store is a little cramped but I am usually too busy looking at all the wonderful clothes to worry about the somewhat cramped quarters. I give kudos to Denise for having such an awesome store. During my many trips back to Port Townsend, Washington state in the mid 2000s with my Darling Husband, I shopped at Expressions. I didn't remember the selection from when I lived in Port Townsend in the 1980s. I wonder if the owner or buyer is buying different items because of the Tourists- there are sooooo many... or the Locals. Since I was a "Local Yocal" in 1983 and I didn't find anything that I wanted to purchase inside Expressions prior to 2006 or so (not even when I lived in Port Townsend in the late 1990s)... I thought that I wouldn't find anything that I wanted to purchase. I noticed there were a few fashionable shirts I liked hanging up. I asked about when the next shipment would arrive. I was told it would be a few months. I have made more than seven trips to Expressions, but I have bought only a few items. Most trips when I arrive in town, I'm bringing gifts to Locals... so I have usually just been browsing. There were a few items that my Husband bought for me. read more

I am usually wary of boutiques, especially when they are on a main street because I wonder if I'm helping pay their rent by purchasing extremely marked up merchandise. This is not the case at Expressions. First of all, Expressions has a wonderful sales section. I think it takes up nearly half of the store. And much of the brand names offered are known and reputable brands that are usually found at major retailers. But, as a visitor of Port Townsend, it is much more convenient (and prettier!) to travel to Expressions rather than some mall 45 minutes away. An added bonus I should mention is that the fitting rooms are huuuuge. And they don't have the kind of lights that make the room feel like an oven - so you can try on clothes comfortably in a big area and in cool environment. They have the biggest selection of clothing in Port Townsend. Amazing selection of socks and huge sale rack.

This store has a great variety of unusual clothing. Fun and whimsical, theatrical and epic is how I would describe the clothes sold here. It's reasonably priced too. I'm a performer and often find costumes here for stage! It's definitely the accessories store to go to if you like stuff that's off the beaten path. A huge variety of really fun socks too, especially if you have a knee-high fetish. read more

Before I lived in Port Townsend and just came to visit, I would always 'accidentally' forget my socks, since Expressions has such a great selection of cute ones. When my daughters were old enough, we would spend hours perusing the sales racks, which are extensive and require attention to find a golden deal. They have baskets of stiff up front on sale for a song. It is crowded, so I have to be in the mood to deal with tight spaces as things are packed pillar to post. With that said, they have funky Victorian stuff to keep in theme with the town, girls prom dresses everywhere, and loads of red Hat Society ladies hats. The staff is nice and attentive. Have been coming here for years, it's always got fun stuff. read more

This store is awful!!! I managed to walk all of port Townsend with my kiddos and this was the only store that has an employee that accused my daughter of stealing socks after she set them down. My daughter showed her where they were and then I went in and called her on it. I also told her that just because some people steal doesn't mean that all kids steal and that if I had been with her I'm sure she would not have asked her where she set them down or followed her around. Yes people steal and yes I understand that but if your that worried about it then GET A SECURITY SYSTEM AND CAMERAS!!!! That way you don't offend patrons and look like an idiot when your dead wrong. And yes, I do understand as I worked retail for years but I never questioned a kid because frankly that's the owners job to secure there merchandise. There are things like security tags and cameras to do the job without offending patrons! So... in conclusion my this place SUCKS! There store is crammed pack and at least three people walked in and walked right out complaining of how cluttered it was. The merchandise is cheap and the staff is presumptuous and rude! There are so many other wonderful shops worth browsing thru... skip expression!!! read more

An employee at Expressions should take a class on customer service. We were falsely accused of shoplifting, had the cops called on us, for NO reason. Then, the employee who accused us wouldn't even apologize. You just lost four customers. read more

I have actually shopped in this store in the past.. and found it a bit crowded and not as welcoming as it should be for a town that lives off the tourist dollar... Today just put the Nail in the proverbial coffin for me. My 11 year old daughter and 3 of her pre-teen friends were shopping downtown today and chose to go into Expressions first to start spending some of their money...( My Daughter and her friends are all high achieving honor role students involved in sports and after school clubs, and I am constantly being told how polite and well spoken they all are!) However, they were treated very poorly by the sales clerk immediately, with rude remarks and being closely followed and "creeped out" by the overly hyper vigilant clerk. The woman that runs the store should take a lesson in customer service and how to treat young people. Our kids do not deserve to be treated as criminals in any shop. I will be sharing Water st. as a shop owner next month and will not be sending business to Expressions. read more
