A Full and Wonderful Day…read more Our tour with Dale was fabulous. I wasn't sure what to expect, but it didn't take long to realize that not only is Dale a great tour guide, he's also a very personable and knowledgable man who makes you feel like an old friend. The points of interest were superb and the last stop we made provided one of the best meals I've had in my life and most likely the best ribeye ever. The day lasted longer than expected, but it was a wonderful day and ended up being just perfect. We are planning to use his rental venue for a retreat in the coming months and looking forward to it. I highly recommend his services.

First I would like to start with the facts. 1. We booked…read morethis tour months ago but unfortunately had to reschedule to a later date. (due to Covid19) This was not an issue for anyone attending the tour and the company got all $2800 paid for in full. 2. Yes $2800. We had 28 people in our group, It required two buses that were at their max capacity. 3. I would give a HUGE ZERO if I could. The buses arrived at the pick up location 25 minutes early and expected us (all 28) to load up. Not all 28 people were even there yet. The male driver already seemed annoyed at this point. We ended up pulling out at the agreed on time. When trying to leave the 2nd winery we couldn't. The drivers HAD LEFT and weren't there to pick us up. We waited outside in the sun outside for 30 minutes before they even got back. But that unfortunately is not why I am writing this review As we were loading the bus to go home the male driver said that would be charging us for a cleaning fee ($300) because someone spilt something on the floorboard. Pretty steep for a small spill that could be wiped up with a Clorox wipe but she agreed to pay it she sat down. Comments started to be exchanged about the steep fee and how the day had been complete chaos up until this point. The man began to get pretty heated and slammed the door. When he opened the door to his seat he said "who the f**k spilt something in my seat." Nobody had spilled something on his seat. Upon looking at the "spill" it appeared to be sweat from Him. He continued to cuss and yell and eventually told us to "get off his bus." We all piled off and the other bus also unloaded. Now it is important to note the other driver said we didn't do anything wrong and that she didn't agree with how he was handling things. He told her he was in charge and that he would make the call. She became quiet after that. They ultimately left us there to find our own rides. The male driver was rude and didn't speak unless spoken to the entire day. A beautiful day with amazing company was RUINED by this company and I will not recommend them to anyone!

So this is a grandparents perspective. Upon arrival to the depot area, there is no indication of event parking as the lighting was very poor at 6:15 at night. The web site mentioned free parking but had no maps of the area. What I saw coming from the east, was a long row of cars parked in a Hodge podge fashion along the tracks. We ended up parking by the library across the highway. (Short walk with a light to cross with). I'll mention this again later. I came across a small sign in the middle of a crowd that says "no alcohol, no weapons licensed or otherwise." Would be nice to know before this Texan shows up armed. So had to run back to the car to secure my weapon. Ehh, minor inconvenience. BTW, the rules are on the web site. We pick up our tickets at will call and wait. The train comes up and parks. The engine was a short haul/swicher unit, no steam, with very beautiful vintage passenger cars. My family's car just happened to stop right in front of us, #41. We boarded and it was like going back in time. We found our seats easy enough. However, keeping in mind, either people were a lot taller and thinnier back then, or they have tall tables and do like airlines and add extra tables. It was tight. Little wiggle room for an adult. If you are in the window seat, you get to look forward and to the side. You cannot turn around to see what is behind you. If you adjust your seat, you are bumping the person behind you. And trust me, every car is packed. Being a night trip, there is nothing to see outside. So bring stuff for the kiddos to do and snacks and drinks. The two hour trip is loud. Kids are loud, and you have adults talking over the kids. My train enthusiast self went on an exploring expedition through a lot of the other cars. Some like mine had 4 person tables, others 4 person commuter recling seats with no tables. Some had one bathroom available others had two. I stood between two cars and just watched the scenery go by. It was a refreshing change to the snot-monsters noise in my car. The endless coco was good. Very hot. Eventually a minstrel came out and started some interactive Christmas carols. Pretty good. Simultaneously, a balloon guy came out making hats and the sorts for the kids. Then out came the forgetable part, a story teller. Hard to hear, not well versed in the story and choppy in her reading. Alas, Mrs Clause with some very different tasting, highly addictive cookie for everyone, saved the day. The highlight of the adventure was Santa. The staff had his appearance very organized and orderly. Each table had a chance to take photos with the big guy. The most unimaginable gift was given. A wooden train whistle to about 15-20 kids, my own grandkids included. Imagine if you will, about 30 minutes left in the trip with the incessant "tweet-tweet-tweet" penetrating that one nerve that goes from your ears to your feet and makes your spine want jump out of the window. Now, after a engine switch from one end to the other delay, we headed into the depot. We didn't exit the way we got on. We got on the depot side (city side), and exited on the parking lot side. Well that's fine and great. But if you park on the city side, you are blocked by the train with only two ways to get to your vehicle. Oh yes, I said a bunch of nasty, nasty cuss words. You either wait for a full train to disembark and hope they let you walk through, or, you walk around the shortest part of the train and back to the crossing light I mentioned earlier. So that's the trip review. But now to the staff. Man those cats get 5-stars. Friendly, informative and in character. I can't imagin doing that trip 5-6 times a day. They made an otherwise blah trip much, much nicer. This is a one time experience with kids. Maybe, someday, my wife and I will try a romantic trip through hill country or something like that.

We were sad when it ended because we just wanted to keep dancing and partying all day long. It was so much fun to celebrate with other future brides and grooms from all over the country. Everyone was very welcoming! The dj was awesome and so was the photographer. I would love to come back and do this activity again! I would recommend setting up transportation separately to get too and from the lake since we stayed in Austin and it's a 45 min drive. Also, make sure you bring something to eat! We made sandwiches before hand and that helped so much.

Overall it was a good experience and I was thankful their onsite photographer capture some fun and goofy moments from our trip.

Luckily we started the tour while the day was still in the 80s, so even though the bus was stuffy, we made it to the first winery stop with only one near-carsickness episode (the driving was erratic at best as well). Upon arrival to our first stop I notified the driver that the AC was not working. He took initiative to call another bus to meet us so that we could switch for the next portion of the drive. We learned the second bus also did not have working AC about 2 minutes into the ride. The AC would circulate for UP TO 30 seconds before shutting off for at least 60 seconds. And so on. Today was a 100+ degree day. We got to the second stop of the tour and notified our driver (yet again, not to mention he took us in the complete wrong direction on the road and a 12 minute ride turned into a 28 minute ride). The THIRD bus showed up while we were on our second winery stop. It had "working AC" however there was also a spent miller lite can in a magnetic koozie stuck to one of the bus walls. No doubt from the last ride. The first bus had potential. The entire group was so excited for our day. It had a cooler, was stocked with drinks, and looked well kept. It went downhill so quickly. This experience was 100% not worth the money. We could have used car services for all 10 in the group and still spent less money than this cost us.

Depending on how many people you have and what kinda of car you want, they will tote you around in a shuttle bus, a limo, or even a stretch hummer. What is sooo cool about this company, is that they are so laid back about every event you schedule with them. They will let you bring ungodly amounts of food and booze on the bus or limo and you can get as loud and unruly as you want, as long as you don't puke in the vehicle. Last year got a little rowdy and alll the girls ended up pole dancing in the shuttle bus! We always bring party trays of sammiches, cheese n crackers, and lots of easy to drink beverages, like box wine or premade mixed drinks. We have them pick us up at my house at 10 am and they bring us back at 6. And in that time we are usually able to visit 5 wineries. When you call to set this up, talk to Bob. He will visit with you on the phone for a long time, finding out where you want to go and making recommendations on new places. He is a real sweetheart. The drivers have always been very helpful also in recommending places and in general by putting up with our drunken behavior i.e. pulling the limo into a convenience store to pee several times in route...... One more kindness they extended to me this year. We had reserved the airport shuttle style bus again as we had 10 people on our tour and low and behold pulling up in front of my house was the stretch hummer. I was a little nervous about a mixup but they said not to worry, the bus had a flat that morning so we just got upgraded....now that thing was pimped out! Blue running lights inside, nice stereo system (I bring my own cd's), and glasses and cups lining the backs of the seats. Only problem with the hummer is it is kinda difficult to get in and out of for older people or anyone with a gimpy leg. Only 2 back doors and a steep step down. Gotta crab walk if you are sitting near the front. Small regrets compared to a great day of hangin with my peeps, sampling wine and enjoying our hill country.

Our driver was nice, knowledgeable and all the part-goers were very pleased. I highly recommend you visit the wineries n a Sunday instead of a Saturday. We visited 6 wineries and had the place to ourselves at most wineries. In contrast, when I've gone on a Saturday, the wineries were overwhelmed, which meant you received no personal service and had to wait in lines - and thus you visit less wineries. She was friendly and fantastic to work with. She went above and beyond, and responded via text. Which I love and found extremely convenient. The bus had great seating that wrapped around and made it convenient for people to talk to one another. I managed to get 3 huge coolers on the bus, stocked with beverages and goodies. Lee and Jay were our AWESOME drivers. They BY FAR surpassed any of my expectations. They arrived EARLY, made extra stops, were so cool and friendly. I honestly want them to JOIN us on the bus next time, instead of drive because they seemed like instant friends!!!! Lee stopped at my house, at a gas station to use the restroom on the way to New Braunfels, Buckees for snacks, and quickly for an intoxicated rider on the way home. Oooops :) not once did he complain, he just went with the flow. We also had a person come to the bus late, and make us run over a bit on our time. He didn't make a fuss about it.
