MY CHALLENGE: Sending flowers to my girlfriend who was in another state during Valentine's Day. MY APPROACH: At first, I considered the obvious: just go with the guys from TV, e.g. ProFlowers, 1800flowers, Teleflora, FTD, etc. But then I read horror stories on Yelp and realized the problem: these companies are basically just middlemen who organize a network of independent florists to whom they subcontract work. If one of these florists ends up ruining your day, the TV guys will just give you a discount on your next purchase, give the subcontractor a warning and use your money to buy more TV spots and marketing. Then it really hit me: when you get flowers through the TV guys, only part of the money you pay goes to the subcontractor florists. Since florists aren't in the business of giving away flowers, they're going to cut corners to save money here and there. Which means that the quality of flower arrangement you get is probably less than what you would've got from buying direct. So, I looked at Yelp reviews, saw that Express Flowers had the highest, checked out their website, braced myself and placed my order. MY RESULTS: Express Flowers hit it out of the park. Girlfriend melted. Girlfriend's office and parents were impressed. Hell, even I was impressed--I ordered an arrangement of two dozen roses and expected that plus maybe some green filler and baby's breath or something. Instead, girlfriend sends me a picture of this insane cornucopia of roses, 2 kinds of orchids, lilies and something that looks like hydrangeas but I'm not sure. Typical reaction: everyone (myself included) first says, "Oh my God!" before trailing off and silently studying the arrangement for several minutes. MY RECOMMENDATIONS: Look, I'm a fairly conservative guy, not a big spender. That said, I'll make the following distinction. If you're getting someone flowers because you feel obligated, just stick with the $9 grocery store variety. But if you're getting flowers for someone you care strongly about and whom you truly want to comfort/delight, ExpressFlowers is the way to go. read more

Awesome service!I searched the internet for flower shops in the Downtown Miami area and Express Flowers popped up with great reviews.I called and Joe answered the phone and asked what I needed. Joseph, keeps calling my number. Now he has resorted to new tactics. He is calling us from a private number over and over and over again. This guy is one sick pos. Joseph just can't seem to let go of the fact that the world does not revolve around him. Newsflash: There ARE other flower shops to order from that actually have normal owners/staff on hand. This individuals histrionic delusions of contacting his customers because he is unhappy they refused to do business with him are ridiculously spiteful and vindictive. Every Monday, for the past 10 years, Joe has been delivering to our office the most beautiful arrangements for our lobby :). Many people compliment them constantly. I had the fortunate experience of ordering a bouquet of flowers from Express Flowers and i cant decide what the most pleasurable part of it was. I live in Los Angeles and chose Express Flowers based on reviews I read on-line. Joe certainly lived up to his reputation - his customer service really is 'above and beyond'. The order I placed was fairly insignificant. In addition, there was nobody at the recipient's office when the delivery person showed up.
