Honestly, I read on TripAdvisor that the others had negative experiences with drivers not showing up so I had Uber as a back up plan. Thankfully we had a driver that showed up and was on time. The fare was cheaper than Uber and much cheaper than the other taxi services in Auckland going to the airport. We paid a flat fee of $39. The driver was friendly and helped us with our bags. Or you can go outside and before the queue the ticket booth is attached. Easy transaction and the operator ensured I knew where I was going and gave me a map. On board has decent WiFi and comfortable seats. One issue I had, and it's for all of NZ transit, is that they don't announce stops. So I'd recommend talking with the bus driver or familiarizing yourself with the city location so you know when to press "stop" to request getting off the bus. I download maps and save for offline usage and pin point the stop I wanted so I could ensure I didn't miss it. Did not see anyone purchase on board, not sure how it works. I recommend getting tickets for the operator booth and getting a return ticket to save yourself the hassle of having to pay on board (remember, NZ is big on card usage, so it's okay to carry minimal cash for safety).

I told him we had a quote for $15 but he was very rude and argumentative, he insisted on phoning 'the office' who he said had no record of this quote. (He had our room number correct though). I phoned Sudima to discuss this on our return and was told that this has happened to numerous guests - they are given a quote of $15 when booking taxis for guests, only to have the driver charge more on arrival at the airport.

Discount Taxis have both vans and cars in their fleet, so if there is a big group of you they are usually able to accommodate for that. Unlike most other taxi companies, when you ask for a van they actually send one - so you don't have to worry about them sending two or three cars and having to pay triple the fare with these guys. The drivers are also pretty friendly and not creepy - another bonus if you're a girl travelling by herself. Last time I caught a Discount Taxi, the driver even opened the door and her played great music the whole way to town. Next time you're in need of a cab give these guys a go!

Now we've been raving about it to everyone we know. It was so easy. You just book online, drive there, park and then they take care of the rest. They park your car and then take you on the shuttle to the airport. And it is so cheap, only $9 a day. This is cheaper than most inner city day car parks so we were amazed at how cheap it was. When we arrived pack we just sent them and text and they came straight away to pick us up. It's such a good service and totally takes the pressure off the beginning of your trip. It's a picturesque little wharf that welcomes you into Wine Island. There's a car park here, but they charge to let you park here. If you walk a ways down the street, there's a free lot. The public bus runs out here, as do taxicabs, but the walk is recommended upon arrival. On the walk back from the vineyards, I advise you to take the bus for just over a dollar, it's totally worth it. It's about a 10 minute walk into town. I wish there were stalls selling stuff like snacks and more wine. That'd have been helpful. And why can't they build the wharf further inland? J/k...

Some newspaper vending machines. Lots of parking, which seemed to be pretty full. I didn't see much in the way of people selling stuff, which I always enjoy at transportation centers. I think Auckland is missing an opportunity to sell some possum pies to travelers. Beyond that, there's not much here. It works, and gets you where you wanna go in a timely fashion. The buses ran on time when I went, and the drivers were friendly.

Being able to park my car and jump on the bus, which is guaranteed to come about every 10 minutes and shoots along the expressway to Britomart in no time at all, has been a lifesaver. Without this luxury I'm sure I would have been late to every lecture. The only problem here is that it's just not big enough. I think when it was built, another story of parking should have been plonked on top! If you're not there by approximately 7:20am (it can vary depending on holidays etc) you are running the risk of having nowhere to park. And then you're in a bit of a pickle scouring the streets around Park and Ride for a spot to stash your car! But as I say... if you're organised and the timing is right, or you just get lucky and manage to nab a park, this is gold!
