We sat on the upper floor and it was very neat and clean. Seating was tables and we had nice views out the window. The ride was smooth. Staff was friendly. A rustic sort of understated calm that may hear the taunts you throw at it but won't react at all. It fits in this setting is what I'm trying to say. Just like the Central city Ferry Terminal fits the sort of lifestyle encapsulated by 'big city life', this building has a vibe all it's own. And who could give a place such a bad review when just outside it has a patch of perfect golden sand where you can catch the most amazing views of Auckland City. Take some fish n chips along with you, you won't find a better spot.

It's a picturesque little wharf that welcomes you into Wine Island. There's a car park here, but they charge to let you park here. If you walk a ways down the street, there's a free lot. The public bus runs out here, as do taxicabs, but the walk is recommended upon arrival. On the walk back from the vineyards, I advise you to take the bus for just over a dollar, it's totally worth it. It's about a 10 minute walk into town. I wish there were stalls selling stuff like snacks and more wine. That'd have been helpful. And why can't they build the wharf further inland? J/k...

You can take in all the beauty of the Auckland Harbour and you'll get a prime view of the Harbour Bridge as the ferry actually travels underneath it. The price is a little steep but I just count is as being part of helping my mental health haha. Starting and ending the day out on the water does wonders for your stress levels. There's nothing like salty wind blowing in your hair to make you remember what life is all about. And this ferry helps you remember it daily. As a commuter, Explore boats are newer and cleaner, the staff genuinely friendly, and there is far better food and drinks selection on board - almond croissant on the way to work anybody? (Don't, it gets addictive). The journey feels far more relaxing. We're yet to see how the smaller boats deal with rough winter seas, but right now it adds a perfect option if you want to catch a ferry approximately half hour out from the Fullers boats. Tip: check out the upstairs indoor cabin- those seats are made for giants.

After living in Auckland for 8 years one would think I would know where Devenport was. I remember calling nt boyfriend saying oh baby we are going to Devenport. He started laughing and told me that his house was only a few minutes drive from Devenport. I didn't know that one could drive there. I was so embrassed as we had just started dating, now I look back and laugh at myself. The day was a bit windy but we had so much fun on the ferry. Walking on Tongariro and taking pictures was the highlight. This is a trip that those that want to explore Auckland should make.

That means a bunch of tourist-oriented routes (Tiritiri Matangi Island, Rotoroa Island, Motiuhe Island, Coromandel), and a couple of commuter routes too (Beachhaven, Hobsonville). Some of these are truly wonderful destinations, so it's great to have a second ferry operator providing access to them. Tiritiri Matangi is probably the best known, and makes for a great day trip or overnighter - it's a bird sanctuary island with great nature walks, panoramic vistas and beaches. The 360 vessels are generally smaller than the Fullers boats so you need to book for some destinations, but they're fast and comfortable and the service is a bit more personal so that's nice.

I went over to Waiheke the other day with a girlfriend to see what we could get up to. Having not…read morearranged any transport prior to getting to Waiheke, we thought we'd just see what happens. We bumped into a local man called Dave. He has a little shuttle business offering tours around Waiheke Island, then finishing off the tour by dropping you at your selected vineyards. For $45 Dave will give you a big tour of the island and be your diver for the day, dropping you off at vineyards and eventually taking you back to the ferry terminal to catch the 4pm ferry back to Auckland. What Jamie and I did was a mini tour, only $15, we received a mini tour around Waiheke Island and then got dropped at our chosen vineyard. Dave was incredibly helpful and I would recommend giving him a call when you next need a driver on Waiheke Island. He is incredibly well priced as we ended up using another company to the ferry terminal (arranged by the vineyard) which cost us $15 just to get us there directly. Calling Dave is the way to go.
