Very beneficial and easy to use transport option for travelers. They offer children and adult rates and either one way or return. When at the airport, you can purchase tickets by: you can use a NZ card (I'm assuming) at the iSite location, as long as no signature is needed (would not allow me to use my USA debit card). Or you can go outside and before the queue the ticket booth is attached. Easy transaction and the operator ensured I knew where I was going and gave me a map. On board has decent WiFi and comfortable seats. One issue I had, and it's for all of NZ transit, is that they don't announce stops. So I'd recommend talking with the bus driver or familiarizing yourself with the city location so you know when to press "stop" to request getting off the bus. I download maps and save for offline usage and pin point the stop I wanted so I could ensure I didn't miss it. Did not see anyone purchase on board, not sure how it works. I recommend getting tickets for the operator booth and getting a return ticket to save yourself the hassle of having to pay on board (remember, NZ is big on card usage, so it's okay to carry minimal cash for safety). read more

Not knowing anyone in Auckland who was able to pick me up from the airport when I just moved up, the service offered by Airbus Express was invaluable. Pickups from right outside the airport, you can either pay at the little booth outside or cash on-board. It takes all the stress out of travel to/ and from the airport so you can kick back and relax during the journey. It goes right down central Queen street and terminates at the ferry terminal downtown, and you are able to hop on at any point. The bus also comes every 15 minutes during the week and weekdays. The awesome thing about this service is you never hit any traffic at all cause the bus commandeers the bus lanes to zip through the city. It also helps that every bs driver I have had on this service drives like a bat out of hell. The bus drivers are super knowledgable and friendly and the prices are great. Winning! read more

Good points about Airbus: - Operates 24 hours a day and they are about 10 - 20 minutes apart. - Much cheaper than a taxi - No need to prebook, just buy your ticket on board. Note you must have cash. - Alternates between going down mt Eden rd and Dominion rd (conveniently I live between these 2 roads) But remember to keep in mind you still need to allow plenty of time (on one occasion I didn't allow for it stopping at accommodation in the city and I ended up missing my flight)! This is an incredibly useful 24 hour a day service taking people to and from Auckland International airport from the city centre. I used it when I flew into Auckland for the first time from Sydney at 1am and was very grateful it was so grateful of its ease and simplicity at this time of the morning. Simply pay on board and tell them where abouts you're staying, stack your luggage at the front and sit back until your hostel/hotel name is called by the driver. I thought it was really good value at only $16 for a one-way ticket, especially considering that I paid almost double that for a similar service when I arrived in Melbourne, which was much more long-winded. My only issue was that I was kept waiting for a bus at the airport for around 45minutes. At 1.45am and desperately wanting to sleep, this wasn't ideal. However, the female driver was really friendly and took us to right opposite our hostel as it was raining really heavily at the time. read more

I was travelling to Sydney in January and needed to get to the airport. I didn't want to order a taxi as these can be expensive so I brought a ticket on the Airport Bus. These blue buses run every 10 mins from the city centre through Mount Eden and along Dominion Road towards Mount Roskill. You don't have to pre-book tickets, you just jump on. It cost me $28 return which I thought was very reasonable. It took just 15 minutes from Dominion Road. We didn't experience any traffic though. Until the day that they extend the Onehunga rail line through to the airport, Airbus is the only public transport option for those that want to get to the airport without having to pay for car storage or a taxi. As a result it's the most cost-effective way of getting to the airport, and by Auckland standards the service is pretty good. It operates reliably every ten minutes, and goes 24 hours a day. The drivers are friendly and helpfully point out where major hotels and destinations are on the way in. They also use the bus lanes on Dominion and Mt Eden Roads so they can be faster than being in a taxi at rush hour! One small complaint - please find a better place to turn the buses around at the end of the journey - Queens Wharf is too nice a spot to be ruined by buses! read more
