I had brought my vehicle to a Chevrolet dealership in Lowell for a recalled part that had resulted in broken piece in the wheel hub. I was told there was too much "rust and corrosion" to fix the part and it was recommended to me to contact a junk yard and have my vehicle taken by them. Dave and his team are just phenomenal. After moving to the area we were nervous about finding another great mechanic but Expert Automotive has met all our expectations and then some! I first brought my car to them for an airbag issue which they independently researched and let me know could be related to a previous recall and the dealership should fix it for free. (Compared to the two other places we called beforehand that just started giving quotes and trying to order parts.) They didn't charge me anything for that and Dave even offered advice on how to get it covered. That kind of honesty and good character is hard to come by these days. When the dealership found a few other things to be fixed, I immediately called Expert Auto and was quoted a few hundred less and told I could bring it in the next day. They even did a road test to check everything out for themselves and got everything done in a single day. They have no problem giving quotes over the phone for more routine repairs, have very fair prices, don't pressure me into getting extra work done, and are very professional. Had my brakes done with Dave and Expert Automotive. He gave me a fair quote for full rear brake job and emergency brake. He contacted me to let me know that my front brake lines were in rough shape (it was an older truck) and should be replaced.. I told Dave it wasnt in the budget but I would bring it back in a few weeks for that work. When I picked up my truck, the price was where he had quoted for the brake job AND he had replaced my brake lines in the front for no charge. Best auto service I've ever experienced!!!! I just changed my job to Chelmsford, and I got some issue with my 2005 bmw 325i before changing the job. I've been to many different places to fix my car, even some other places near Expert Automotive...but trust me, Dave is the best ever!! Very nice, professional, and timing. I usually drop off the car before work and pick it up after. They close at 5pm but he will be there working late even after 5:30. He can handle every single problem with the car, I got my windshield fluid leaking problem fixed, my head lights cleaned up...my remote could never open my trunk before and now it's working great!! He also replaced my window switch and lightbulbs for the trunk...fixed my messy wires...and from all the perfect job he'd done I got my inspection sticker right away. After receiving a very high price quote from Drum Hill Ford to have the brakes on my F-150 done, I decided to shop around. Through Yelp I learned about Expert Auto, and I'm glad I did. Dave, the owner, has very reasonable pricing, but most importantly honesty and integrity. He took the time to inspect my brakes before completing any work to ensure I wasn't just wasting money. After the inspection he provided me with a detailed explanation of what was needed and options for when things could be done. I opted to just take care of everything at once, and even with some additional work needed than previously expected (piston in the caliper was busted) his price was still cheaper than Drum Hill quoted for just pads and rotors all the way around. I brought my 2000 Ford ranger to David after it was making a loud engine noise, many other mechanics had told me to junk the truck as it wasn't worth anything. Not only did David offer to open up the engine to diagnose the problem, but he offered to do the tear down work for free so that i wouldn't end up paying money on something that couldn't be fixed. After a few days, He called me in to see the problems he had found. David ended up doing a full engine rebuild for me, combining the best parts of my engine, and another used engine. He had everything machined and painted, and every gasket and bolt that was replaced was put in precisely to factory specs. Every part he used was straight from ford, and installed properly. David stayed late multiple nights to work on this massive project, and he also had fun doing it. He is a hard working honest man, and will go through whatever it takes to be sure that your vehicle is repaired properly and safely. At the beginning of the project, he told me a price, and did not go over it at all like most mechanics do. David even went above and beyond to get the truck inspected, and even called me two weeks later to check up on it. The truck runs 10 times better than the day i bought it, and gets about 7 more mpg than it used to! Expert Automotive is a very professional garage, and a classic example of hardworking Americana.
