I really wanted to love this place but stopping by for breakfast was a bit disappointing. The pancakes had a very strange flavor! I didn't eat much of it because the flavor was off putting. The best way I can think to describe it is a bitter grain or something very earthy... The coffee was also sub par based on the other coffee shops in Oaxaca. Maybe dinner is better?

Really nice restaurant, easy to find, right on the corner of the street. We were seated right away at a large table. We ordered 2 kinds of ceviche that were very good. We also shared a sampler plate which was a good way to taste a few different items - my faves were the cochinita pibil and the cheese. The steak was ok - not a lot of flavor but soft. We also ordered tacos and quesadilla. Again, not a lot of flavor but the salsa was really good so we added some of that. The tortilla, while handmade, is good, just a little different in Oaxaca so it's something to get used to - a little tough and gritty. The restaurant was pretty quiet for a while but then they had a musician getting ready to play live music. Service was good; server was attentive and kept checking on us to make sure we were taken care of. Great place to eat in a lively location with other bars and restaurants all along the street.

We happened to be walking by this spot and noticed the amazing decor so we stopped in to grab a drink and some snacks. It was a totally chance encounter, but actually ended up being one of my favorite spots the entire trip! I ordered the Los Cuerudos and my boyfriend went with the Reforma. Both were AMAZING but mine was admittedly better. I'm a sucker for drinks made with avocado and order one whenever I see it. The creamy texture was perfect and the flavor was insane. Easily one of the best cocktails I've ever had. And it had chapulines in it! Double win! The Reforma was perfectly balanced, refreshing, and looked really pretty. For snacks we went with the Garnachas Istmenas (which were like little sopes with shredded pork on top) and tortilla soup since it was a bit rainy out. Both were really good and were the perfect amount to share and snack on. The rest of the food menu looks amazing and I would definitely come back for a full meal. As I mentioned before, the decor in this place is really amazing. The tiles behind the bar are so beautiful and the greenery throughout gives it a high-end, yet relaxing vibe. Also, the service was spot on. Our server was perfectly attentive and incredibly knowledgable. We did a mezcal tasting and he provided lots of really great info about each one. If you're browsing Yelp for a place to eat and/or grab some drinks, look no further!

We were intrigued when we saw a billboard advertising this spot when we left the airport. The atmosphere was very unique & enjoyable. For apps we ordered cheese balls that came with a nice salsa. The tortilla soup was as expected. We had the torta de lechón which was really the highlight of the whole meal. The mixed taco dish was nothing special (especially after trying many amazing tacos in Oaxaca). We ordered the dessert sampler and it fell short of expectations. Overall, this place was fine, but I won't return again.

Four of us ate here on a Saturday afternoon and the food and drinks were delicious and the food was spot on. Located in somewhat of a market, the atmosphere is unique. We were seated in the area between the main dining room, in front of the kitchen pick-up window and across from the cafe, where apparently the coffee from there is served in the restaurant. We started with two delicious mezcal cocktails and the squash soup, which was fresh, not too thick, not too watery and packed with flavor. Just the right consistency. We then moved to two local craft beers (Santa Helodia Amber Ale and Tierra Blanca witbier) and the taco assortment (3 of shrimp, 3 of octopus and 3 of fish). The tortillas were a little tough, but the tacos had great flavor. I think the fish won me over ... I'm guessing maybe marlin. For mains, I had the cochinita pibil (pulled pork), which was fork tender as it should be and loaded with flavor. For dessert, we opted for the trio (flan, chocolate brownie and cheesecake) and coffee. Yum all around. The waiter sold me on a mezcal that apparently is not sold in stores. For $1400 MXN (about $65 US), I caved and bought it after trying just how smooth it was. This place was recommended to us by our Airbnb host. I in turn, recommend it to you, though if you're looking for very traditional Oaxacan food (mole, tamales, etc.), seek elsewhere.

The Rojo Tradicion and the El Tule custom Mezcal cocktails. Amazing.

First class food, service, the cocktails were exquisite, and I had the best reposado Mezcal I've ever had in my life. Smooth, refined, and every bit as elegant as a really fine scotch. This place is absolutely wonderful.

Had the first meal here in Oaxaca and after traveling for a a few days and trying out other restaurants in the area, this is the best one. The restaurant is very aesthetic and has a nice interior design. Our waiter, Juan is very friendly and knowledgeable with the menu. The drinks and food are phenomenal. Highly recommend this place!

You can't go wrong with any of the upscale restaurants in Centro Oaxaca and this won't disappoint. Try the memlitas tipicos if you're new to town. Creme de guias is great if you're just trying to get a taste of original Oaxaca flavors.

The place is pretty large. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The food was excellent.

I went here for "regular" dinnertime (AKA 7 PM) but it was a pretty empty restaurant. Because of the empty atmosphere, I had a lot of attention from the servers which was sort of odd. After trying a traditional red drink which I didn't really enjoy, the servers had me try several different Mezcals and mixed drinks which was fun but a little much. The tortilla soup was delicious and I would definitely get it again. As a general rule, I believe Expendio Tradición would be a good place to come for date night rather than a solo dining experience.

We popped in here randomly for a quick lunch. It was a super quiet but nice! We got a table in the bar area next to a window and enjoyed the views to the street. The service was fast and friendly. The restaurant is stylish and clean too! Our group of 4 ordered the Plato Oaxaneno which is a large appetizer platter which a little bit of everything. Quesadillas, Giuacamole, tamale, chorizo, queso, and several other items. The pate was enormous! It ended up being way more abundant than we expected so we didn't order more food. It was the perfect amount of food and delicious. It made for an easy lunch in a nice location.

Amazing cocktails!!! Cool vibe inside. Staff was very friendly. Only got the fried cheese balls to eat, which the only disappointment was how small the serving was because it was so delicious!!! Menu looked great

Terrible food, bad service, and overpriced for Oaxaca. Main course was not edible. Would not recommend to anyone.

We were able to get a seat right away and the servers were super helpful. My friend wanted to try some mezcal and they let us taste a couple before choosing. We sat at the restaurant instead of the bar because it was cuter and I wanted food too. I tried two of their fruity mezcal drinks and loved both. I forget the names but one had watermelon, and the other had coconut and lime. I ordered cheese stuffed plantains with mole and this was soooo good. It was very filling too!

I thought it was funny when I got the menu and the food menu was only one page while the drink menu was five pages. The outside of the restaurant is blue-ish and the restaurant has multiple rooms. The ceviche del dia ($190 MXN) was a little sweet and not as tart or sour as others I've had. The tacos de sirloin ($170) were really good and were our group's favorite. The taquitos dorados de mole negro ($140) were okay; there was no meat just in case you were wondering. The aguachile rojo de camaron ($190) were good. The esquite con tuetano ($100) was not like a typical corn in a cup but it was closer to a corn soup. For drinks I had the pequeño gigante ($210) which was good. The paloma madura and paloma margarita were both favorites among our group. We went during the day and it wasn't that busy but supposedly it gets way busier and livelier at night.
