They were all competitively priced but each had flaws that turned us off. Lack of communication, lack of material presentation, and a lack of interest in our business. Jesse from TLC was recommended by a local material vendor. He came over with the co-owner Charles to my residence. Right off the bat, they were very professional and showed a lot of interest in our business. I shared with them our vision and goals of our project. Keep in mind I only wanted a retaining wall done, but they went the extra mile to show us what they can do for us for our whole project. This was a huge plus for us. Jesse and Charles came up with the numbers. They were priced similarly to my other estimates, but they had an awesome selection of materials that would fit our budget. They also provided a rendered drawing of what the wall would look like. They also included other possible designs that we envisioned for our backyard renovation. TLC really wanted to be part of our whole project. We agreed on the retaining wall project and signed their contract. When they got started with the project, they were very clean and professional. I did have a run-in with our HOA, but the team knew how to communicate with them so they can stay on schedule. Every day they kept their workspace tidy and kept the area safe for my dog to run around the area. At the end of the project, the family was super satisfied with the work and craftsmanship the team put into our property. They were working under 100º degrees in the summer heat. My only complaint was that they should have ended each day earlier because was HOT! They were all hard-working and the team always had a smile on their faces. You can tell they enjoyed working with each other. Our next phase is our pool, Jesse did have a few contractors lined up for us but we ended up using another contractor that fit our needs. After our pool is done. Jesse and TLC will continue renovating our backyard with pavers and landscaping.

Jason listened and took notice of every detail regarding our likes and dislikes. He presented us with images that captured exactly what we were looking for. He created the perfect landscape design in our backyard, to complement our new pool and spa. Our front yard is a show stopping combination of heat tolerant plants, stones, and artificial turf. The finished look is beyond our expectations. Let us just say, Jason and his crew were amazing! Each day they all arrived on time and worked with such integrity. They cleaned their work area at the end of each day and were completely respectful to us and our home. The attention to detail was unbelievable. Jason recognized areas that needed additional drainage and gave his full attention to our project. His time touring the nursery to view recommended plantings as well as hardscaping selections was such a positive experience. It was a great opportunity to see and expound upon our personal preferences. And when all the plants, stones and boulders arrived, he was spot on. We have had so many compliments from neighbors and people stopping by to complement the new look. We are overjoyed with the finished look of this entire landscaping project. We absolutely recommend Jason and his crew. Bob and Nora Peterson, Rocklin

I do not recommend Shear Perfection Landscape…read more We had similar experiences to others' poor reviews on here. One specific issue I wanted to note below: Here is what the contract said: "Fix and move existing irrigation in the backyard to new shape of lawn." When they put in new irrigation, they chose to bury an old sprinkler. The old sprinkler is now leaking. Why didn't they just FIX AND MOVE the old sprinkler like the contract said? Owner danced around this question, and they won't repair it. Now I will have to pay a new company to repair it. There were some other questionable events, but I will be respectful and not go into them. I DO NOT recommend using Shear Perfection Landscape.

Chad was friendly, professional, had exceptional working knowledge, explained things perfectly, and listened to my goals (so important!). He immediately understood what I wanted to do with both yards, offering wonderful suggestions based on his years of experience. The quote I received was great, covering everything Chad and I had discussed. They were able to get me on their schedule right away. The team that came out and performed the work (Romeo, Luke, Roberto and Caesar) were exceptional. Always friendly, professional, willing to answer my many questions (lol!), and their work product was perfect. Andrea was a fantastic Admin. She kept all the paperwork and communication flowing, and was a wonderful resource when I had questions. Chad was great - onsite and present often, providing information and ensuring that I was happy with the progress. The project included: demoing the bark, patio and existing fountain; removing plants; replacing old drip and lighting lines; replacing irrigation valves and solenoids; finishing all beds with lava rock; pouring approx (1000) sq ft of concrete - 2 color stamped pattern; installing a header board along a property line; and building a mini retaining wall along the sidewalk. They cleaned up everything when they were finished, it was spotless. The work done was exactly as we discussed and I am so pleased. They will be coming back out to seal the concrete after it is done curing. Based on my wonderful experience with them I highly recommend Shear Perfection Landscaping. I will absolutely be working with them again when I have future landscaping needs. Thanks Shear Perfection for everything!

Right after he was done, however, the sprinkler system stopped working!  The timer said that the sprinklers were being turned on but there was no water coming. The person who had done that work didn't know what to do and suggested that I replace the sprinkler timer for a more expensive model.  His suggestion didn't convince me, so I looked at Nextdoor.com and Yelp, and I found Phil. It only took him 10-15 minutes to find the problem: the previous guy had left a wire disconnected.  Phil's quick diagnosis for my sprinkler system troubles saved me a lot of hassles. Phil also changed a broken post on my fence; a post that had been ignored by the previous guy. Phil told me he had a lot of years of fence and gardening experience in the Bay Area. Our consult with John was thorough, and he really listened to what we wanted. He made some suggestions, and let us know the approximate pricing right upfront so we knew what to expect on the written estimate. The written estimate included pricing for each element. We appreciated this because we clearly understood the costs, unlike other estimates we had gotten beforehand. The total price matched our expectations, and we felt very comfortable that we were getting a fair and transparent quote. Once we agreed on the plan, we scheduled the work for about a month later. John walked us through how to put plants on hold at the nursery and explained everything else we needed to know. Communication throughout the process was very clear and consistent. On all the work days, the crew showed up right one time, and John was there every morning to check on things and do much of the work himself. He also ensured we knew how to use the sprinkler timer and what the sod needed for the first few weeks. The whole job was completed in four days! The crew also left our patio and driveway perfectly clean and washed down; it looks better now than it did before. We will use Caligreen for all future jobs, and we can't recommend them highly enough!
