I had a great experience from start to finish with this vet clinic. From the kindness of the front desk to all the extra help and shadowing vet techs. Hedgie had a heart issue that the doctor prescribed medication for, amazingly his condition got better not worse. I was able to love him months after his diagnosis. Unfortunately due to his age and failing liver I had to make the heart breaking decision to put him in a better place where he feels no more pain. Everything was handled with empathy and care. I trust them with reptiles as I had brought my corn snake Elote to them as well. Yes vets are expensive if you do not have insurance, but if you can't spare their health for a cost, you probably shouldn't have pets at all. read more

My elderly mom went here today Mar 9, 2026 to get a band removed from her pet canary. 45 minutes later, they come into the room to tell her her pet canary is dead. They overdosed her canary with gas and killed it. These people had the audacity to still charge her an office visit and cremation. You killed her bird, you have until end of business day tomorrow Mar 10, 2026 to credit her account for your negligence. Please be very cautious taking any of your beloved pets to this place, they may not come home. By the way, you killed a $150 male singing Canary that was just a year old. Who came to you happy and healthy. Oh I see, another expert vet who wants to take no accountability. Shame on you. I'd rather you have broken his leg than kill him. Shame on you. If you can't handle a simple removal of a leg band you shouldn't be in business. Please let me add they quoted my mom $500 low and $700 high for a routine LEG BAND removal. read more

My mother and I took her little domestic dove who is 14 years old in to see them since it's beak was having issues. It was a fantastic experience! The staff were kind, knowledgeable and caring! The receptionist was attentive, thorough and very well organized. She answered questions and was very helpful. The lobby was great with supplies for sale, exotic pet information and free coffee and water available. Due to the nature of the business, helping exotic animals , the prices were a bit high but, it is well worth it since they are a very high quality with specific expertise. I'm sure they are also competitive with other spots which are hard to find. My mother was very happy with the outcome and ultimately, their suggestions helped her bird! This has been one of the worst experiences I've ever had with any business. If I could give negative stars, I would. The staff was extremely rude and displayed no sense of customer service or compassion. We had a very sick animal and scheduled an appointment the day before. We drove over an hour to reach the facility, but were delayed at a Border Patrol checkpoint on I-19. We immediately called to explain that we would be about nine minutes late. Instead of understanding, the receptionist was rude and warned us not to be late. We ultimately arrived only three minutes later than the time we had told them we'd arrive, yet we were told we would not be seen because of their "policy" on late arrivals. I fully understand the importance of policies and procedures, but they should never outweigh basic customer service or the care of a critically ill animal. As someone who has served nearly 40 years in public service as a Fire Captain and now as a medical clinic supervisor, I know what true customer service looks like. We would never turn away a patient who arrived before closing--especially one in distress--because, at the end of the day, our duty is to care for those who rely on us. Unfortunately, this facility seems to prioritize rigid policies over compassion, care, and professionalism. I will never return to this facility, and I strongly advise others who truly care about their animals to take them elsewhere. They let me see my bunnies genitalia and teeth, etc. since I am a new first time bunny owner. I also had general bunny questions and the Dr. was very kind and patient. Not judgemental. Dr. Walth was already at capacity and was busy but I was referred to VEG for further assistance in my emergency situation with my bird. He took his time and consulted on the case and even consulted over night with the staff. He cared, sincerely and had never met my Ypse, my orange winged, yellow nape hybrid, which was my world. He made her important to him as well. We stayed the night and in the morning brought her to him to "fix" her wing after she was stable. instead she had a heart attack in my hands. This has been one of the worst experiences of my life with pets. Office manager did reach out. Told me to drop my guy off and that he would be seen immediately. When I got there receptionist told me that she did not know when he would be seen as he was a drop off (after cutting me off). It's 345pm and I am being asked to pay 1400$ to MAYBE save my frogs life for the damage inflicted by their vet. So I am having to clean up a mess they made. The office manager called me to say we can worry about finances later- like I'll blindly agree to that??? Then she told me I needed to stop out a 75% deposit down. What??? Do you hear yourself. Long story short- they injured my frogs eye and then refused to fix it. I even offered to pay the cost for anesthesia and cultures. and still no. Terrible practice. Edited 11/8- removed the photo of him healthy bc this practice decided to have it as their photo everyone can see. He is not their poster child. Still haven't heard anything. I don't even know if they euthanized him per my wishes or if someone else took him home to nurse back to health. read more

I've been here a few times over the past couple years when I have a hen that gets sick. The staff are all very friendly, and they've been great with my birds! They're great at calming down and gently handling stressed animals. This last visit I went in with a sick hen (this hen is my absolute favorite of the flock) who had become lethargic with little interest in food or water. They explained everything clearly, they were happy to answer all of my questions, and they understood that money can be a huge factor for animal owners. When they gave the initial list of tests they *could* run, the numbers were daunting. However, at no point did they try to pressure me into a black hole of expensive testing. They were happy to help me pare down the number of tests/interventions to just the essentials, giving guidance on what was likely to make the biggest impact. They were also happy to teach me the necessary procedures to assist my hen while she got back on her feet. I went home with medications for a bacterial infection in her upper airway, and with some supplies for crop feeding and administering subcutaneous fluids (I'm a healthcare provider so I was already familiar/comfortable with the equipment and general procedures). This morning my hen is happy, eating and drinking, and even spent some time outside digging holes in the garden. read more

This has been my go-to vet for my birds and rats. I love the vets, techs, and staff. They take such great care of my animals. I don't blame them for requiring a deposit on appointments and completely agree with the policy. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to find another vet. Apparently, they are under new management and have instituted a $63 curbside fee. We do curbside not for convenience but necessity. They don't require masks (their choice) but I live with a severely at-risk person so I choose curbside. We wait out front through the entire visit. I can understand a service fee, maybe $10-20, but $63 is just egregious. I hate to switch vets but others are not charging for curbside. read more

After cancelling my appointment somewhere else with terrible reviews I brought my bunny here for an ear infection and the staff were incredibly gentle with her and spoke about her in friendly ways. I could not have asked for a better experience for myself and most importantly, for my son, than what took place when we had to bring his beloved leopard gecko in. The care that our pet received and the time and attention that everyone here gave us was incredible. Just speaking to the staff on the phone, SHOWS how much they care! I took my guinea pig to get a physical as well as clipping her nails. The staff asked questions about living conditions, diet and history of my guinea pig. Not only did I appreciate this, but the fact that they are very strict about following CDC guide lines. After the doctor called me about the exam, she answered all my questions and provided added information on how I can keep my guinea pig healthy. I loved this place! Our first visit at this Tucson location was an emergency appointment for our leopard gecko. Both the vet tech and Dr. Venegas listened to our concerns, were thorough in their exam and explained all the possible issues to us after they took the time to test him and explain our options. Unfortunately, after 6 years of a wonderful life our little guy needed to be euthanized. They allowed us to sit with him for as long as we needed to say goodbye and to hold our boy until he had passed. Even in that emotional moment we felt very grateful to not feel rushed. The entire staff did their jobs with such care and consideration- all for a gecko who was living out his last hours. Afterwards we received a clay mold with our geckos little palm prints and tail print. Then the following week we received a beautiful card in the mail from Dr. Venegas. Such small kind gestures as these made a horrible experience of losing a beloved family member just slightly more bearable. There are not enough 'thank you's that can be said to everyone who was there to help us that day. Thank you, thank you! My pet had an emergency (ultimately euthanized). I called every emergency vet hospital in town and, hands-down, AZ Exotic Animal Hospital was by far the most helpful even though the call taker assessed and quickly determined that AZ Exotic would be unable to help due to the circumstances of my pet's injury. The employee went above and beyond expectation in recommending other treatment providers, he offered emotional support and empathy, and he was beyond friendly and helpful. Superior customer service! I do not know the employee's name who helped me, but it occurred on 10/18/22 at approximately 3:00 p.m. I sincerely hope the manager can identify the employee and thank him. read more

Dr. Giles and the staff are really great, professional, and compassionate. My 9 year old chinchilla suddenly developed a prolapsed uterus that I discovered at 1 am, and I emailed then to see about an emergency appointment the next morning. I got a call 30 minutes before they even opened letting me know that I could bring her in right away (and they worked around scheduled surgery), and they were great about letting me realistically know the treatment options and the costs. Although I had to put her down, they handled the situation with great compassion and it was a smooth and peaceful passing that I was able to be present for. Along with a burial box, they also gave me a clay badge with her paw imprints, which was a nice touch.
