This was SO. MUCH. FUN. Seriously. I can't wait to go back. My son wanted to celebrate his 15th birthday there and I'm glad he did. There were five of us total and we got off to a slow start but we were really close to finishing. I already want to book another room and we just left! Friendly staff. We threw a bachelor party for our best friend by kidnapping him, putting a sack over his head, and then taking it off after he was already in the escape room. I told them the plan ahead of time, and they allowed us to sign the waivers in the escape room instead of the lobby in order to amplify the kidnapping effect. It was great. We had a blast. read more

Good to see escape rooms arriving in Salem. I hope that this one continues to improve. Arriving to an empty space with no one at the front desk, and only a phone number to call was an odd and not very welcoming experience. When a phone call was made the staff member who answered was a bit disorganized and unsure of times and availability. Beware that there are no restrooms, you will have to go to a different part of the building and they did not check on the team before ushering us in. Not all lock types were explained, which is unusual and unfortunate. Speaking of locks, 98 percent of the experience was figuring out how to open many many locks before finally getting to an actual puzzle. The sheer number of locks was probably the reason behind a 20% success rate. The scenery, props, and general theming were pretty good. Sound proofing was terrible. The teams in rooms around us could be heard clearly. There was no opportunity before or after to take group photos, which again is unusual of the escape room experience. Hope to see growth and improvement, and plan to return when it's there. read more

The escape room itself was a lot of fun! Went for a friends 40 th and we finished the Asylum room. Was a little disappointed in the atmosphere created by the staff and feel like they could do more work to make it a more complete experience. Would prefer that they worked on finishing the experience as well as they start it. Feels like you get to the end and it's like okay bye. It was our first time doing an escape room and we finished it, I would have expected the staff to offer to take our picture, maybe have a white board where you post your time! read more

Had a blast with a group of friends for a bday event. Staff was courteous and knowledgeable. We did the "Poe" room on difficult mode and got out in 55mins. Was a fun and entertaining experience with the room setup and communication with the staff was excellent!! Really enjoyed our time there can't wait to do another escape room again!! read more

We did an escape room in Bend and had a fantastic experience, so we expected the same here. However, we were disappointed. First, you can never take photos in escape rooms (though a photo when you first enter that just shows room set up would be nice, and shouldn't give away much.) But usually, you are given an opportunity to do a fun photo at the end at least. Nothing with this one. So no photo memories of our adventure. Second, the clues didn't lead you to the next clue so much and it was very unclear where to start. Third, some of the clues were very "out there" as to where they belonged and how you'd make them fit. Fourth, the walkie talky system is very odd. They have to ask you over and over again to repeat, and you can't really hear them. Fifth, in Bend, everyone escapes, because if you don't they walk you through how to do it. Basically we were shown the last area we had missed and told "you'd have found clues here." Therefore you leave feeling like failures instead of like winners! I much preferred our previous escape room experience, though the young man who took our money was nice. ALSO I'm not sure there is handicapped access, which was a bit of an issue for me as I have some handicaps. It's not accessible by the elevator, you have to use stairs, as it is kind of between floors one and two. AND we asked for a chair for our daughter who was in a walkling boot for an ankle injury and was not supposed to walk. There was a chair in one room, but not in the others. This wore her out a bit. A simple folding chair would have been a great way to add accessibility. It's not terrible, just not the best escape room I've seen. read more

I would NOT recommend this experience. My mother loves puzzles- and for her 50th birthday we took her to do this. The staff was friendly, but not very good at explaining things which was fine as we had done other escape rooms in Portland and Seattle. We worked fairly quickly and we're making good time until we hit a major road block. We finally caved and asked for a clue, only to find out we didn't have all of the puzzle pieces we needed! Communication was through a walkie talkie and it was VERY Difficult to understand each other. We asked for clues on specific things and they answered other things. I will say that they tried to make up for their mistake by adding time. We were also able to finish because there wasn't someone waiting to get in our room. I'm only giving it a 3 star because my mom didn't want me to give a 2. read more

We had a blast in the "Poe" room. We had 7 people and only one had done an escape room before, so we bumbled around quite a bit but the staff was helpful. Very detailed and fun, definitely recommend Exitus to friends. read more

We went at 5 pm on Friday September 10th and did Arctic outbreak and it was great! Our host, forgot her name :(, was really personable and gave thought out and clever hints (which we needed a lot lol) that were just enough information to drive us forward without handing it to us. I recommend doing POE's legacy if you are still new to escape rooms as this one was pretty complex, BUT either way this was still a super cool and interesting room with a fantastic host! read more

We took a group of 6 into the Hermit escape room Saturday evening and were moments away from escaping when our time ran out. We went out to dinner and decided to try the more challenging Arctic room later in the evening. We escaped with less than two minutes of the hour left. Both rooms were super interesting and challenging. The employee we interacted with was GREAT! Since we were all new to the escape room experience he went over the basics and suggested we break up into smaller teams to address multiple puzzles at one time which was super helpful. We will most definitely be back! read more

Nothing to do? DO THIS! We had a blast! You really have no idea how close you are, until your either out of time or you are out of the room. We did the Hermit room, so much fun! Didn't make it out but we thought we were making great strides, but nope! Not even close! Sounds like it's the hardest room too, now intrigued to see what the other rooms have in store. read more

Yesterday was the first escape room experience for my boyfriend and me. Two out of town friends had completed one in Vegas and we decided it would be a fun experience during their visit. We tried out Poe's Legacy and successfully escaped in the allotted time, feeling challenged and having a blast working together to solve the clues. There were some great surprises and the clues for the theme were really well executed. Our friends commented that this room was much more detailed and exciting than their previous experience. This is escape rooms done right. I recently celebrated my friends 30 year old birthday party and he said all he wanted to do was spend time with friends and loves escape rooms. This place was not only perfect for the occasion but was so fun that left us with memories to last a lifetime. There were a variety of rooms to choose from with a nice range of difficulty. The staff was very friendly and helpful as well. I love what Salem is doing downtown and this place is at the forefront of where it needs to be. read more

It was fun to figure out the clues. However, the staff did not explain how to use all the different types of locks so even though we had entered the right combination for the lock, it didn't open. We had all the combinations but because of that lock mechanism not being explained, we lost with the last ten minutes just waiting and trying to figure out the lock. I would recommend that you ask how to use the locks in the room before starting. read more

Just got done escaping this escape room. They didn't have all of the clues set up in the room, so when we ended up having to ask for a hint, they had to give us the addition item we didn't have. They have you communicate with them via walkie talkie, and it was quite a struggle to understand one another. Also, the directional lock at the end stuck and it was difficult to enter the combination. I did appreciate that they gave us some extra time due to their mistake. Overall, I have been to better escape rooms, and struggled to give them a three star rating. read more

I think I'm getting a little addicted to these Escape Rooms! This is the 2nd one I've done in Salem and 3rd room ever. I always finish wanting more, even though we haven't gotten out on the first try-yet! (We did go back and finish the Hermit's Lair, which was sooooo satisfying!) I just need to go back with friends and do Poe's Legacy to hit the trifecta! These guys are clever and come up with excellent brain teasers that will help my brain stay sharp as I age. I really like escape rooms I've done in the past, but this one was weak. They give you a walkie-talkie to communicate with someone giving clues, but it's difficult to hear them and they sometimes didn't respond at all when we asked questions. And when we asked them to repeat things we didn't hear completely, they often wouldn't. At one point, we were told to go back to a previous puzzle we'd already solved to get a clue. We spent another 10 minutes before finally concluding that the person giving the hint must not have realized that we'd already completed it, so that was a total waste of time. We struggled for 20-30 minutes trying to figure out another puzzle (asking for multiple clues after a while) only to realize that the reason we couldn't solve it was that the main component we needed to solve it wasn't even working. They came in to replace it, but couldn't give us more time because there was another group behind us. We told them about these issues when our hour was up, but there was no apology or anything. Seemed like a waste of money when we weren't even given a fair shot to complete it. read more
