Came here on a Friday night to do the Spy vs Spy room. We had a 9:30pm reservation but probably didn't go in until closer to 10:00pm. While that would normally bother me, our game master Chris really helped keep us entertained in the meantime while other parties were wrapping up. I could really tell he enjoys his job considering how emphatically he set up the story for us. I also really enjoyed his humor, and how he picked up on our group's humor so quickly and matched our banter. I didn't feel very much awkwardness after the first couple of minutes. Once we got into the room I really enjoyed the puzzles and how they all tied in together, as well as the AI aspect of it all. I won't get into any details, since I don't want to spoil one bit, but this set of puzzles does a really great job at keeping the whole party engaged, which can be difficult the more people there are for any escape room. We finished the room in a little over half an hour, which is a little on the faster side, but I still feel I got my money's worth since I was entertained and actively working on puzzles the whole time. I've come here before for the wizarding school room and enjoyed it, so definitely open to coming back for the other rooms, especially since it's down the street from me. read more

First time here on a whim with my friends and we definitely did not regret it! Staff is super friendly and we were so lucky to have Mac guide us through. Loved her energy and how much she made our group laugh from start to finish. We chose the Wizard room (medium difficulty) and it was super fun at $35/person as a group of 4. Our group escaped with 3 minutes to spare thanks to the CLUES. It's in a rather secluded area but I don't mind that. It did say appointment only on the door but not sure if they are strict on that. My friends and I still booked online in advance anyways. Would definitely recommend. read more

My family had so much fun here. We had our brains running at max speed and we jumped and laughed a lot everytime we succesfully solved a hint or unlocked a lock. The Butcher room was fun, its set-up was one-of-the-kind that I have not seen at other escape room locations. You should try. We ESCAPED tho :) Gigi was super nice and helpful. One of the troop members (ages middle-high school) has done the "hide and squeak" room with a birthday party and recommends that one as well. I came here with a group of friends from work past & present. This was the first time I had gone to this particular escape room and I've done one other escape room at a different place previously. We did The Butcher's Torture Chamber, which was a hard difficulty room and I will not spoil it for you, but it was great! For this particular room, you need to be able to communicate well with your team. That's all I will say. We finished with less than a minute left! Chris was our game master and made the experience fun. We did need a little help here and there but overall it was challenging but very well thought out. Some additional things they ask that you leave your items in a locker, taking pictures is not allowed (I didn't risk it!), they will take pictures of you after you finished the room. The rooms have cameras so the staff are able to assist you and make sure you have a safe experience. I will absolutely be back to try their other rooms! read more

My 8 & 11 year old did the Wizard School one with 2 of their 11 year old friends. They did it completely on their own and beat it with 1 minute to spare! My husband and I trusted the staff and they were amazing! We were able to just sit outside in our car while they did their thing. We came in about 15 minutes before they finished and we could hear them laughing and getting a hint from their attendant. It was adorable and they had a blast. My 11 yo is now obsessed with escape rooms and keeps asking to do it again! Will definitely be bringing her and her friends back again. read more

Although there are several escape room spots in Sacramento, we decided to test our intelligence at Exit Strategy Games in Elk Grove. We had planned to be in the area, thought the Santa's Workshop would be fun for the kids and they had great reviews. We were two families of 4 with the youngest being 3 years old and oldest being 13. We arrived a few minutes prior to our stop time as requested and met our host Calidah. We took a few minutes to use the bathroom, lock away our cell phones, talk about safety and then the fun began. We were debriefed and entered Santa's Workshop. We had a slow start as it took us a while to figure out where to even start but finally got things under way after a hint from Calidah. She kept a good eye on our group keeping us on track and even diverting the kids to help with another puzzle while us adults patiently worked together to figure out another. The puzzles varied in difficulty. There are some that are straight forward while others require a little more thought, memory and recognizing things around the room. We managed to escape the room with 7 seconds to spare. Calidah congratulated us and took a few photos of us that were emailed and texted after. The price is right, we all had fun and the kids are looking forward to returning for the Squirrel and Wizard rooms. read more

Exit Strategy Games put on a super fun and Christmas themed escape room! A group of 10 friends went last night to challenge ourselves to their escape room called Noel's Nutty Christmas. We arrived 15mins early as instructed which gave us time to use the restrooms, put our phones and bags in a locker, and sign the mandatory waiver in case we hadn't already. I noticed right next to the waiting area is the control room where the gamemaster's hang out, watch us, prompt clues, and scold us or give clues if necessary while people are in their escape rooms. We were greeted by gamemaster Gigi and told we were just waiting for our escape room to finish being set up for us. Once it was ready, Gigi escorted us to the entry door and gave us a brief introductory story to the room we were about to attempt to solve/escape from and set some basic rules. Gigi brought the energy and the subtle humor and we were led into the room! We watched a short animated video on the TV in our room that set us up to understand our mission and then the timer was set to an hour and we were off to solving puzzles! The room was decorated very well, immersing us into the story in a life-like way. There were many locked boxes to discover the codes for, a door to discover the lock code for, and other mathematical and artistic puzzles for us to solve along the way. It was a very fun journey that definitely required the effort of our whole group. We were given two clues throughout the hour that were displayed on the TV which helped us advance and although we had the opportunity to ask for clues from our gamemaster through an intercom, we never did. We solved the last puzzle with about 16mins to spare and as we were beginning to celebrate, our closing gamemaster, Tony came to congratulate us. He was impressed by our problem-solving skills throughout the game and said he enjoyed watching us. Humble brag, he said he thought we solved the game the fastest out of any group thus far! Lastly, Tony took three group pictures of us in the room and let us out for the night. There were shirts and themed stuffed animals for purchase on our way out. We LOVE Exit Strategy!!! The season Elf room was awesome! The games were fun and required real collaboration, which made it perfect for our family. The game master was wonderful--super helpful without giving too much away, which kept the experience challenging and enjoyable. The room itself was spacious and well designed; we're a family of five and could easily move around without feeling crowded. We've done almost all of the rooms here, including the seasonal ones, and absolutely love them. We went again last weekend and had a blast. Today we actually tried another very popular escape room company with locations in multiple cities, and it was awful in comparison. Our family went as a last minute activity for Christmas Eve and it was definitely the right choice. We had a lot of fun and a great time thanks to Chris, our gamemaster. When you enter, I recommend checking in on Yelp as it allows you to get a free water bottle (Seems unnecessary but you'll understand its need after finishing a room). Our game master chatted with us a bit and we all talked about our interests and got to know each other as our party was slowly trickling in. Chris was very patient despite our group being a bit slow. After the rules were explained, we put our items in a locker near the front and got started. The game itself was very fun, we went with Nutty Christmas to get into the spirit and because I didn't want to scare the kids for the game. When asking for hints, Chris answered with a spin with his own personality, which was nice since I'm used to reading hints off a screen from faceless game masters. This added a more personal touch. In the end, we ended with 13 minutes to spare and got our pictures taken. There was no "We escaped!" signs like I was hoping, but their photos are so much cuter. I thought it'd be a normal picture, but when he sent the pictures, it came with a super cute frame. This is probably the best victory picture we got so I'd highly recommend trying. read more
