There is a TON of equipment. All types of bars and lots of dumbbells as well as cardio equipment. There is also an upstairs that's kind of hidden but there is turf and other lifting equipment and it's usually quiet up there. There is also a women and trainer only section on the first floor. The machines are mostly old and everything is mismatched, but that's what gives the gym it's unique vibe. It's kind of like a workout museum and all the members love that. It doesn't get the nickname "East coast Mecca" for nothing.

Loki and his mama always made my day when I came into the gym. Everyone is so friendly, but also so focused on their goals and helping you get to yours. There is a women's only section which I loved because I felt more comfortable trying out new exercises there. I can be a bit shy, so I do not like to be on display. Plenty of squat racks and smith machines to go around. I love how they had multiple cardio options not just treadmills, but row machines, bikes, cycling bikes and more! Exile Performance Nutrition right in the front was awesome too! Always knew the answer to my questions! Great that you can get a water, bang, or Kenny's cookie then be on your way. Bmore MMA great too! Super nice that you can get discounts on memberships if you have both. Can also get discounts for teaching etc. Showers at Exile are spacious and clean! I lived in Baltimore and I would only shower at the gym. My home shower was the size of the chokey in Matilda. I worked out everyday, so this was a nice add on! They also have ice cream and refillable water at all times. They even offer towels. The workers are always kind and helpful. The pool area is always clean and welcoming. Everyone who attends and goes to Merritt Clubs is always fun and nice. It's always a great vibe, especially in the summer. When the concession is closed, you can enjoy tremendous food options in the area. There is tons of parking and is easily accessible.

I enjoy the pool and feel so much joy going down the water slide and the lap pool, especially before noon. The adult swim time is an awesome 15 minutes at the top of every hour. At first I thought it was unnecessary, but it's great and much needed, because the pool is overwhelmed with kiddos mostly without direct adult supervision. They're splash and cannonball happy which has led to a wet book and a splashed kindle lol. They're young and don't know but adults should. The pool is also full of day campers after 12:15 this summer. I've found quiet (surprisingly) near the kiddie (under 4) area and me and my books are splash free sitting on the edge of the pool near the water slides.

Never got an email from Spunk. They had my phone number incorrectly entered by one digit. The owner was a real winner. I thought I could just pay up with the misunderstanding. He said he didn't do anything wrong and said I could pay collections. I said I didn't find that fair to have to pay $60 in fees when no one notified me that it was even going to collections. He said he didn't do anything wrong and isn't going to do anything about it. Just FYI. It's the same price as Planet Fitness which is brand new and 24 hrs. Spunk has reduced it's hours and is hardly open over any holiday. He never repairs any of the equipment when it breaks down. And a good number of them are broken in some shape and form. The chiropractor uses the sauna like its his personal bathroom. Just a collecting money at this point. And cares very little about the customers or the gym.

The facilities are beautiful and clean, the options are plentiful so many free class and great equipment and everyone is friendly. I see the reviews complaining about it being crowded, but that's because it's a great gym. I haven't had an issue with finding it crowded, but then again maybe it's the time I choose. Thank you L.A. Fitness for making my strength comeback so enjoyable.

As I pulled in, I was excited as usual at the ample parking. Also, as the gym sits in the corner, it is directly in front of you as you turn into the shopping center. The front has the traditional PF branding of the open face front and vibrant attention grabbing lighting. Though this location has significantly less square footage than my home location, the owners have made great use of the space. There is a nice selection of equipment as well as the equipment is positioned in a way that allows for there to not only be multiple options, but there is enough space for you to work out in comfort and not be super close to the person next to you. The staff is friendly, the classes are busy, and the space is a decent size. Like all other OTF's, they charge you $12 for a late cancel (8 hour or less from the start of class). I could understand if the class was full and you did a no show or canceled within the timeframe, and I feel they should adjust their policy to this. Charge the $12 only if a class is full and someone does this. What if you wake up sick and can't go and the class isn't even full? I still get charged $12 for this. That's my one gripe with Orangetheory. They milk more revenue out of you for this even though in most cases it's not a hindrance to them whatsoever.

When cancelling I still got charged $70 just to cancel. Really great feeling knowing I had to choose to either cancel my membership, eat another $20 despite not going to the gym as much lately (depression is a struggle), or get food/groceries. Disappointing. I tried to read what I could before signing up, but I guess I missed something that wasn't made very obvious. What does no commitment mean in this sense? I don't really understand now. This problem is not unique to this gym chain--This happens at most, if not all of them. Still I hoped theyd be different. Egg on my face. I will not return. I'd rather save money for my own weights and a treadmill at home. Oh well.

I think there's no better value in the Baltimore area. I've been to Merritt, and although it's closer to where I live, I refuse to pay those premium prices. I was a member of Under Armour Performance Center downtown, and although that space is spectacular, the parking was a nightmare. I drive 15 minutes each way to Gold's in Dundalk and I don't have to worry about parking and I have access to a world class gym. There's something about Dundalk, but the people here are friendly and polite. You don't get a douchey vibe here. The gym went through the $1M renovation roughly 4 years ago and they are still adding machines/equipment to this day. They shuffle equipment around from time to time and relocate/repurpose. It's neat seeing the transformation. A couple of gripes I have with this gym is the dumbbell rack and the weights in the wrong place. I've provided feedback on my issues with this for years. There used to be free weights all over the floor. This has improved, but members still do not place dumbbells where they belong. I think this gym needs to label the racks so members know where each weight belongs. It looks like they may have added or upgraded the racks, but there is still some improvement that can be made. Secondly, the men's locker room is pretty gross. It seems like they tried doing something with the lockers, but the toilets and floors are pretty nasty. I do my best to not have to go in there, but I don't know if they have the means to improve this space.
