Read the fine print- they are legally allowed to do that. The staff and aides are absolutely delightful and have been fabulous but the upper mgt and corporate people are only focused on $$$ and not your loved one and your family. We were told mom's needs were beyond their "scope of care" and we needed to find another place for her or to pay for a private aide to be with her 24/7. Atria didn't assist us in finding an aide, that burden fell entirely to us. We were also not guided in our search for another facility to move her to. One staff member said they aren't allowed to mention other facilities. When it came time to cancel the autopay- they neglected to do it and we had to intervene at our cost. We were not a priority for them anymore. It is a beautiful place and they have the facade of looking out for you- but you are a customer and that is how you will be treated. In the area- you will find more caring places- less corporate minded. Elizabeth Calsey House is a total gem. Avita is nice. Haverhill Crossing is also nice and Bridges in Andover is great. Good luck. EDIT- I'm response to business owner reply. We were asked to leave. We didn't want to leave and it wasn't us who decided to leave.

They tell you they have a good medical alert system in place and will notify you in an emergency. (Primary reason we are there.) Not so. My father fell and no one was alerted or notified. He was alone and a caregiver aid I privately hired found him on the floor with injuries. I brought this to the attention of management. No response. Nothing. No follow up. Just a blank stare. So, don't expect anything in terms of emergency. Residents are in their own. Meals are rigid. No flexibility whatsoever. The meal system is difficult if you don't want to race to a meal 30 minutes early then wait for an hour and a half, then, you are out of luck. Unless, you want to fill their forms out 3 times per day for every meal. Just a ridiculous system. Yet, you pay for it. Billing is terrible. No statements. They don't explain charges and they don't correct charges. They overbill. They sell you on the monthly charges and claim it's month to month. They rush you through a lease with errors. Then you find out it's a 3 month minimum and an additional 30 day notice. They don't disclose this at the outset. They state it's month to month. Just terrible business practices. Very false advertising and misleading. If you object or complain, they just ignore you. I'd be careful staying here. I think, they are dishonest.

I only say good because the largest meal is at lunch time. The dinner meal only consists of sandwiches. When I was growing up , lunch was a sandwich and dinner was the main meal of the day. Also they are pricing the residents out of the facility. Most residents are living on their retirement income. Once the monthly payment reaches above $3 to 4 thousand dollars, residents have to make a decision on what to do.

The apartments are much bigger here than the other places we visited in the area. Yes, the decor is still stuck in the 80's from when it was built, but who cares. Yes, maybe it needs new carpet in some areas but dad doesn't care. What he cares about is the good food (he'll eat anything so who knows if he's a good judge of fine dining!), the kind and attentive staff and the new friends he's made. A big perk to this place is the indoor pool which residents can use 9-11am with a supervising staff member. We didn't see indoor pools in the more expensive places and it's a real treat for the residents! Dad is a real bore about participating in the activities, but if your elderly loved one would enjoy them, they have plenty! There is no excuse to be lonely or bored at Langdon! If they're not feeling sociable at meal time, they can even have them bring the meal to their suite. We love the flexibility of how little or how much you want to participate on any given day. Take a tour of Langdon Place and see for yourself. It was just the right place for dad, hopefully for yours as well!

My family is from North Hampton and Rye and we have the means to obtain the best in care. Webster is truly "run" by a dementia- averse nursing manager and the leadership in this facility takes a 'back seat' to her. I have done a lot of work with the seacoast elderly community and 'the word' is Webster is truly not any more than assisted living .
