The biggest issue I had was that the coach did not go through the workout with us beforehand. My friend and I found ourselves confused at times about what we were supposed to do at times. Also, the workout is not really tailored to each persons needs or capabilities and you also don't really get one in one time with the coach. I know this was a first time visit but this visit essentially can help a person decide if this is the gym for then or not.

Same great OTF workout in a great location and space!…read more The Avon location is super convenient with a lot of parking, just off Highway 36/Rockville Road. I walked in and was blown away by the size of this location (twice the size of the other lol location I have been too). Clean and bright with an open reception area, lockers, three showers, and a blow-dry station - it is setup for you to easily head to work after your workout. Orange theory is a zone based workout and good for all fitness levels. When you arrive, you will borrow or buy their heart rate monitor. The monitor connects with the OTF system and displays your heart rate, zone, calories burned and the "splat points" - which are basically the top two heart rate zones. Worried people are looking at your numbers? They are not. If they are, they got ripped off because you are working hard enough in these classes that you won't have time to look over the other numbers on that screen! I have knee issues and use alternatives for many parts of class, coaches are great about that. Rowers, treadmills, free weights, bosu, TRX, etc. I burn 400-600 calories in every class I have attended. Coach Erin was great. I have also taken class from Coach Lauren, as she teaches in Bloomington too - she is the best! Give it a try! First workout is free.

There are modifications for everyone and no one wants to see you succeed more than these coaches and this community. They have a consistency club that challenges members to be consistent with attendance and offers prizes and stickers. They also have other events at the gym for charity. The space is massive and it stays clean! The coaches truly are top notch. I've been to many CrossFit gyms but this one is by far my absolute favorite. I live different months in MN & PA states & here, using the Y pool swim to ease joints/back issues…read more This is no doubt the best Y w/its clean, modern locker/shower facilities, kid's pool with slides. But, there's only one 4 lanes lap pool so I have no idea why they had to "rest/close" the pool from 1-4pm weekdays. In both MN & PA, lap pool is opened all day 5:15am-8pm weekdays. If lap pool was used for swim team or life guard training, they'd open the kid's pool for lap swim. In Philly, there is one pool with no kids' pool. So certain hours, 2-3 lanes of pool are reserved for kids lesson/ fam swim, leaving 2 lanes for lap swim. But the pool is in use fr 5:15 till closing at 8 weekdays or 6/ 4pm weekends, except for Friday 2.5 hrs of pool cleaning. They tried to maximize the pool's usage to benefit members. Why such a waste of resources here in Avon, IN? I saw that the staff were just hanging out, doing nothing near the pool while members were not allowed 1-4pm to use the pool nor the sauna. It would be the best time for some ppl to swim/sauna in these 3 wasted hours. I hope that the management of Hendricks Y will reconsider their pool hours and not waste such a wonderful resource for its community. I will upgrade this to a 5 star if this is changed for the better (or even 6; ).

We were greeted by the front desk staff as we entered and checked in. As you can imagine, the evenings are a little bit busier since people are off work. The facility is spacious enough for everyone to spread out. The machine's downstairs were full so we headed upstairs to the treadmills. They have wipe dispensers so you're able to sanitize before and after equipment use. They also have several TVs on display if you don't have headphones, etc. I would say guests are friendly.. ended up striking up a great conversation with my treadmill neighbor. We spent a little over an hour on the treadmills before heading back downstairs. Locker room/bathrooms appeared clean and the sauna was a great amenity used to end a great work out.

It's so annoying. Another thing is that you can't tell if the sauna is on or off . There isn't any real distinction like the one on Michigan road. It's horrible but I try to stick it out. The door doesn't close and there is a major gap surrounding the door. Please fix this crunch. We are tired of complaining and I'm tired of people opening the door and letting out the small amount of heat to press the button a thousand times.

I decided to save my 100th review for one of my favorite places ever…read more I guess you could say that a Groupon deal changed my life. Really. A few years ago, my friend and I needed a new place to get our regular Zumba fix, she found a Groupon for Studio Z, we gave it a shot and the rest is history. I won't go into too much detail on all the classes and instructors as the scheduling and instructors can change. I would recommend checking their Facebook for daily updates on the schedule. Let me start by saying this, this place is definitely worth visiting. Everyone here is incredibly nice and wants you to have a blast and meet your fitness goals as well. Tons of different class times and various instructors. They ALL rock and bring their own unique style to their classes. I have never not had fun in a class. You will find that some classes can be a bit more high energy/impact than others, so I recommend trying a few instructors to find what works best for you and your style. They currently offer one price to take any of the classes they offer that day, that means you could try multiple classes for the price you would normally pay for one elsewhere! They also offer unlimited type of passes. Check their website for current pricing and times of classes. Should you try this place out, don't be intimidated if others seem to know the songs really well, they just might as this place has many regulars, come try it out and as long as you are moving, you are doing Zumba right! Also, if you see me there (I try to go a few times a week), feel free to say hi to me, I love meeting new Zumba lovers! They also offer some alternatives to regular Zumba including Turbo Kick, Circuit Challenge and Zumba in the Circuit (Zumba + Circuit, one of my favorites!). Special shout out to Mary, one of the owners of Studio Z for being one of the most motivating, inspiring, crazy fun people ever. She is so welcoming to everyone and her classes are awesome. She is also a personal trainer and those services are offered here at as well. She has inspired many people (including myself) to go to the training to teach Zumba ourselves. She is even currently offering an option to allow these instructors to try out teaching with a free class option on Friday nights, amazing! I could go on and on about my love for Studio Z but really you should just get your butt here and get dancing!

They really make an effort to get to know you here, and the studio has a wide array of ages that take classes. No gymtimidation! I personally take the Pound classes, which are offered 6 days a week. It is a drumming style workout with a great mix of music. You can either pay $8 for 1 class, or do a 10 class pass for $55. I think $5.50 a class is VERY reasonable for a specialized workout like this one. They also offer lots of other classes including spinning, TRX, Zumba and more. They also have memberships as well if you want to do multiple types of classes during the month.

They offer only 2 classes but the classes meet on time, and the instructors are helpful. Compared to my previously mentioned club, where classes would not meet whenever the instructors don't feel like coming, which is a pain (club name starts with a "M". Go figure) Staff is great. There is no locker room so I have to leave my stuff in the cubbies. Which is actually okay I don't have much trouble with it. I guess the only real problem with this place is thy do not have the lying leg curl machine. I usually have to use the cable station and a machine as substitution. Other than that. It's great.
