For the past 3 years I've had preventative treatments done in my yard for scorpions because one of…read moretheir reps came to my door when I bought my home and sold me a story about how the previous owners had an infestation. I came to find out that the previous owner lives behind me and that wasn't the case. Despite being lied to, I kept a bi-monthly plan at $60 a visit. I also found out my HOA fee pays for pest control within our tract so this service wasn't entirely necessary. Again, I kept it because it's better to be safe than sorry with my dogs. I also pay for indoor and outdoor service. In 3 years they've only treated the inside of the home 3 times. So keep in mind, I'm paying for chemicals they're not using. This month, my tech showed up and did his routine service and left. Nothing special, but my card was charged $90. I called and the girl on the phone claimed it was for an intensive scorpion treatment for an infestation. We have no infestation issues, so I told her that had to be a mistake. She transferred me to a manager who claimed it was because they raised their price to $65 bi-monthly and added a startup fee of $25 because there was a gap of more than 2 months between my services. I explained that we don't get pests in the winter so we always wait until it warms up to schedule an appointment and I've never been charged more. I also wasn't notified before my service that I'd be charged $30 more. He told me it was my responsibility to ask what their prices are, even though I've always paid $60 without any changes. I told him it's a businesses responsibility to notify a customer who is contracted into a set price before making changes to any automatic credit card charges when they change their pricing. He got really worked up and said "I don't have time to deal with you. Do you go to McDonald's and bitch about their prices changing when you can't afford it?" I went from pleasant to pissed. "No, I don't. They post their prices clear as day, if I want to pay for it I do, if not, I leave... your company doesn't display pricing and doesn't inform people of price changes so that's entirely different!" Then he said "I'll refund you $25 because clearly you need it and I'm tired of talking to you. Next time you get a service with us it'll be $85." I told him it was rude as hell to say that to someone when it's about the principle of running an ethical business, not about me not being able to afford it. I'm justifiably upset that I was overcharged and given 2 different reasons as to what that charge was for. I told him that I won't be needing their services after the way he spoke to me and he said "That's great" and hung up. This is their manager! Just a tip, line your yard with hot shot and it does better as a boundary than their crappy spray does. I've had to use it between bi-monthly sprays for pests and it works wonders for only $4. I don't know why I continued business with these people after being lied to from the jump. The red flags were there.

Then a month later sent a technician out on a day I previously told them was not a good day due to my work schedule... So even after I cancelled their service they sent a guy out when they thought I wouldn't be home... I stopped him and told no more, the technicians are skilled, knowledgeable and courteous, but they have some dirty scamming office help... Technician left a note on our door with a phone number to call for questions. Yet when I called to get information the girl told me she didn't know anything about spraying at our address, couldn't help and then hung up on me. Perhaps a more appropriate response would have been to offer to look into it and get back to me? Instead I was told that since they were technically closed at the time I called she felt she should not even have picked the phone up! Really? Then next time don't.. wait until your office is open when you might perhaps be a bit more inclined to be polite and helpful instead of nasty, rude and unhelpful. Whether your company is working a contract in a community or directly with a homeowner you should always make an effort to treat everyone that contacts your office, especially when they are using the note and contact information your technician left to use, with courtesy and at the very least an offer to try and help. This girl did neither. : (
