The staff genuinely goes above and beyond to care of your every need -- even putting out blackout paper on one of our doors because we were getting too much natural light (wild!) Special shoutout to Roland, our bartender at the Botanist, for his incredible hospitality. He had us laughing all night and felt so welcome as Vancouver first timers. The food and drink at Botanist are amazing. Even the breakfast included with FHR is quite good. Room service chicken wings were delivered quickly and piping hot both times we ordered it. We had the Ofuro tub room on the 18th floor and it was dreamy to wind down our days watching the sea planes take off and land. The view is stunning. If you're a foodie, into cocktails, and appreciate food service this is definitely the right hotel for you. If you're sensitive to sound, try to get a room on a higher floor.

I've always…read morewanted to stay at the Rosewood Hotel Georgia (on W Georgia St) or the L'Hermitage Hotel (on Richards St) as they're located closer to the places I frequented when in town so this time, I checked on availability and pricing. A one-bedroom signature suite at L'Hermitage was significantly less than a regular room at the Pan Pacific and the Rosewood so I booked 3 nights ($625CAD/night). I got off the Silver Moon at 9:45am, handed my luggage off to a representative from Luggage Forward, and walked from the cruise terminal up to the hotel. My room wasn't ready, so I dropped off my carry-on and backpack and went shopping and to have lunch. I was still on my way to CF Pacific Centre when the front desk called, informing me my room was ready. I told them I'd return after lunch. Wow, I loved my room (707)! As you entered through a short hallway, you found yourself looking at a full kitchen to your right, bathroom to your left and then the bedroom, past a closet housing a stack washer/dryer. The living room was bright and airy because there were walls of glass. Past the kitchen was a den with a desk and sofa. Off the living room was a small lanai overlooking the pool. The kitchen featured a gas range, full-sized refrigerator, dishwasher and microwave. It was like a timeshare unit, not a hotel room, as there was tableware, glassware, etc. The only nitpick was the bathroom; it didn't quite measure up to the rest of the unit. It was small, with a full-sized glass-enclosed tub, a Toto (but without the washlet) toilet, and a small vanity and shelf unit opposite the vanity. It was totally functional, but I wished the tub had a shower wand, not just the rain head. If I could, I'd want this room moved to Hawaii to become my residence. The front desk staff were personable and friendly. The exercise facilities were fine. The L'Orangerie restaurant is located on the 5th floor ... more on that in a separate review. You could also take a car but unless the weather is bad or you have mobility issues, it is just as easy to walk over to the terminal. When we returned later to check in, we received more cookies. (Insert Cookie Monster meme here.) All of the staff we encountered was very friendly, even the security guard on Hastings Street, though he didn't tell us that if we would just walk around the corner to Seymour there is an entrance without stairs that is better for luggage... We didn't bother with the restaurant after seeing the prices, but we can say that the rooms are lovely. Our suite was perfect for three people, with a nice living room area and a separate bedroom though the closet was very small for a room that could potentially accommodate four people. The bar doesnt even smell like bleach because they dont clean up, and the smoking room still has it's windows up for the drug dealers to sell in privacy (DONT DRINK THERE BECAUSE SOMEONE WILL GET PISSED IF YOURE NOT IN THE TRADE). On a side note, the smoking room still feels quite smokey, even a year after the all inclusive smoking ban cleaned it up. Beer is incredibly cheap here, and the crowd a dirty mix of street people and ex-construction workers. Pints are around $3 and pitchers float between $9 and $11 depending on "how much money you have." Jagerbombs (LOL) are $3.50! More on that later.
